My computer randomly at time will shut off.

• No Virus
• Not Slow
• Start it back up its fine

I was thinking it can be one of two problems

• Too much plugged into the power bar(we got all the computer stuff, speakers, cellphone charger, DVD player charger and shredder)
• Overheats and can't handle it to it shuts down

To fix it I was thinking:

• Add a bigger fan

• Add more ram

Should this work? What else can I check or do to stop it from happening?

My laptop used to do that and it turned out to be because the fan wasn't working properly and it would shut down as a precaution against overheating. So you might want to check whether the fan installed in your hard drive isn't malfunctioning.

I know nothing about computers though, that's just what happened to me.

Thanks..Right now I need my computer for school work so over the Christmas break I will take it to my dads friend. He owns his own computer business and went to university and is a real computer genius and will tell me whats wrong with it.

I meant to take it in for some time becuase I got less then 1GB of ram because one of our ram died. I don't use the computer for games but only schoolwork and the net so 1GB all I want.
