| Minimizing families, Implementing districts as sub crew | Started by: WiggleButt on Dec 15, '15 01:08 |

OK so needless to say I miss the days of large families, working together as cities and really building powerhouses. Unity was more enjoyable and the ability to reach made man meant something. Working through the ranks was more rewarding and responsibilities given to you meant more. My idea is simple, a true city/family setup while using districts to implement structure within the family (sub crews) those given charge of sub crews will be slanty bold but still in management of city head. I believe it will not only bring back the unity of working together, but also bring back duties within families such as Intel gathering, large hitsquads, sub crew reports etc. For those who thrive for more then being click monkeys. Because lets face it, its hard to keep interested at times without having work to do. At least for some of us. Any other ideas are welcomed but I think this is something that could really elevate the meaning of families and rank. |

Whilst I see where you're coming from I don't think this really requires coding in as a hard change, i think it should be left upto the players and their leadership styles. I've been in many families that have ran subcrews within, others that haven't etc. I think it should be down to the users on how best to use the districts and how to set their cities up, rather than having things like this coded in. Just my opinion though. |

| As I totally agree with you Rourke, and sadly I think that was the idea with the change. However as time goes on it never fully worked to that affect, is that our fault? Surely, I just feel it would be good to try. Yes the "just rank and do something about it" can be said, but realistically trying to get people on the same page is like pulling teeth. I'm sure if enough were on board coding wouldn't be an issue, although I could be wrong. | |

I like the initial idea. However subcrews themselves I don't think need to be implemented by admins as it is something we already do either within crews or the current way cities are run with chairmen at the central districts. My personal opinion on it is that if anything should require admin coding it is going back to the one Godfather per city idea. It used to be that one Godfather would run the whole city, now yes, you can articulate that still happens. The difference between then and now is that we had between 6-8 cities at a given time allowing only between 6-8 Godfathers maximum. Now we have 6 cities with at least 3 districts within the city.. Allowing at least three Godfathers per city, or at least 18 Godfathers in the game. Each of those Godfathers have to auth someone to take the bulk of their family so now we are at least tripling the amount crews in game. Give or take as some districts are without Godfathers. Why should it be coded you ask? Yes we as players could very easily come to a consensus (assuming we all agreed with the idea) and implement this ourselves. However, it wouldn't be practical given the perks of having the Godfathers. It'a just not practical and truth be told I think this is the reason we as a community have not done this ourselves yet. Nobody wants to surrender that extra power, and why would we? I think if we have one Godfather running a city, much like I can recall from "back in the day" they would auth a captain. Once they were close to full or full they would auth another and so on and so forth. To modern times the GF could have one captain under them in the central district to serve as the underboss, and they could spread out the other auths as they wish within their city. Just as an example.. SO taking it back to the original post.. When you have the game in a state like it is currently where the need to build is greater, the demand for bodies in crews goes up. I think this is part of the reason why the meaning of rank has also gone down.. In our endeavor to achieve power we have put some things on the back burner that used to be very much enforced. All because, in my opinion, we have a severe saturation of crews that are all seeking recruitment for the most part. I think removing the excess Godfathers via code would help this situation. That is just my opinion on it though. Thanks to those that actually read this rambling! |

If coding is involved, then my idea is very similar to yours. Same thought process as far as yes it can be controlled by us as users, but why we struggle to do so. The coding will be as simple as Rh and Lh assigning with the crew page. Assign member to district and click. The godfather or captain whichever route would be taken would have control over it via crew page. Sub crew leaders would be responsible for recruiting so on so forth. More jobs will be given and the crew leader position once again will hold the significance it deserves due to the strength of achieving such. |

i like this. does seem a little wacky that there are so many godfathers that there is a new better godfather position... the districts were supposed to act like separate 'cities', wasn't that the original vision? but we kind-of got caught in an in between place where they don't make much sense. they are sort of separate but you can still see all locals, shared jails, etc. i guess i don't really get why districts are better than the independent cities that we had, and that were more in line with what you suggest - one GF and captains. |

I still dislike the districts system and especially how many Godfathers are running around (even though I've been one, I still think, and have always thought, that we just have FAR too many Godfathers now) but I think that going back to the set up of cities with no districts and just one Godfather is preferable to hard coding changes that the userbase has had years to make and clearly hasn't either wanted to or been able to make themselves. You can lead a horse to water, but if you try to drag it, it'll probably kick you in the face. Just like if you force users to do something they're not comfortable, they probably won't have fun and may lose interest. |

To go back to a time where there are not districts we may see the same cycle of the exact same people repeatedly. At least with districts, other people get a chance. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of so many Godfather ranks running around. I would love to see it be just one GF. The Central district GF. The rest could still use the districts and we could still see people getting chances. I never liked sub crews in families so not sure I like the idea of it being called that, but I am a bit torn on it. On one hand I want it to be just 1 GF per city. On the other hand I want to see chances that we sometimes see from time to time with different leaders. My fear of removing districts altogether is that the chances for people that don't fall under the besties category are going to be slim to none compared to what they are now. |
