The Outbreak Started by: Bender on Dec 16, '15 21:36

Over the last few weeks, peculiar goings on have been occurring. People slurring their speech, making absurd statements and complete falsities, as if they were genuinely true. At first Bender presumed there was a new drug the kids were doing that had them all trippin' balls.

Once or twice he'd asked around with his dealers during his routine business dealings, no one had heard anything about new drugs and none of their regulars had asked about anything new, either. Bender became curious as to what was going on.

The previous day had had someone out in the streets, apparently sober, they weren't swaying, they weren't slurring their speech, nada. They came to ask people about how they felt about something that had already happened 80 years into the future.

Alongside that yesterday saw another one of these crazies, though not claiming to be from another planet, or living in a different time zone, but making up shit about a fantasy parallel world they'd been living inBender had heard about the guy ranting atop a podium through a bull horn. He wasn't exactly sure what the purpose was but he had been delivered a transcript of the message that the man had repeated out loud to passersby several times before he decided to shuffle off.

Using his magnificent eyes which were keener than the average human's, Bender scanned the statement he had been given by one of his look-outs. He quickly picked up on the main focus of the statement.

"The death of Armorbearer" "Armorbearer would have upset the balance"

Looking up from the paper he was handed, to the guy who had handed it to him, Bender opened his mouth, about to ask who in the hell this Armorbearer was... Anticipating Bender to enquire, and to save him the leg work, the look-out had taken the liberty of rummaging through the town hall registry office, to find out who this guy was, as he clearly wasn't a mobster or even an associate of one of the families around the 6 prominent cities.

The look-out explained he had actually asked for assistance to make sure it wasn't his lack of experience with searching through records that stopped him finding out who this guy was. He then further explained, that after the search turned up no records of this guy, on his way back to find Bender he had to walk past where the man had been spouting his stuff... There was a small gathering crowd. It appeared that the man was in fact infected with a highly contagious strain of OOCitis. The look-out passed Bender a second piece of paper, this one with the words considerably more rushed and less tidy, but still readable.

"Armorbearer is dead after all." "Its not exactly unknown that Armorbearer is an asshole."

Bender told the look-out it sounds like that guy just needs to get himself some help. The look-out explained to Bender that that second transcript wasn't from the original nutball, but from someone who had stopped to listen and engage him.

Bender, completely shocked at how quickly the infection was transmitted, instructs his look-out to run to the family HQ and to warn everyone to stay away from the area the guy had been rambling. The scene was to be treated as a quarantined area and God help us all if this disease has mutated to the point it's now capable of infecting people through the air, he thought.

"No, wait! get me a hazmat suit, THEN go tell everyone to stay away!" Bender read then re-read the transcripts he'd been given. The alarm bells in his head wouldn't stop ringing. This annoyed bender greatly as he thought he'd fixed that. "AAWAAAH!" He gasped for at that moment he realised his look-out too, was infected with the OOCitis and had passed it on to him and now, so was he!

"OH YOUR GOD!" Bender gasped and ran after his look-out to stop him carrying the infection back to the family HQ.

"Stop, stop! We can't go back to the HQ, we'll infect everyone... and not in the cool way, because we weren't using protection.."Bender taps his foot, wondering what to do and now to handle the situation. Does he try and contain the outbreak himself with his look-out, does he just have fun and infect as many others as he can or does he do nothing, smoke a cigar, have a drink and hit on passing floozies. The 3 options he could think of seemed endless to him..

"Ahh, screw it. The disease has probably already spread if it's airborne and I've managed to end up with it. I'm gonna go smoke, drink and hit on floozies... Later chump!" Unbeknownst to him, someone had already reported the outbreak to the authorities. They were silently, as to not raise alarm with the public been handling it. They had removed the one man who was talking gibberish about living in the future from the public streets. They had taken the other crazy who'd been infecting people in the streets of Vegas and disposed of his body, making sure to leave a 'suicide note' for his friends to find. They'd been black bagging and burning the bodies of the infected public.

If Bender had indeed not been so lazy as to inform people there was a crisis situation afoot, he'd have publicized the fact he was one of the last two carriers of this crazy and highly contagious disease and ended up in an incinerator himself. A few moments after waving goodbye to his look-out and turning his back, to jive his funky ass to the nearest bar, a team of black suit wearing agents bagged his look-out, to process him before disposing of his body too. Bender had narrowly managed to escape with his life and the disease in tact...
