Manual WackBack Started by: Anubis on Nov 17, '09 12:06

Ok. Two ideas to pitch to you, both are basically the same thing.

This is a manual type of wackback. It puts the wackback into the victims hands.

Say I shoot at Squishy and miss. Squishy is pro'd. I can't shoot for an hour.

That's how it is right now. NOW.

Say Squishy has just shot. I shoot at Squishy. This idea is that in this instance Squishy would then be able to shoot at me, but only me, and only within an hour of the time I shot at him, as long as we are both in the same city the original shot took place. If he DOES it would boost his shot timer +1 hour.

For example:

10:40 kill bob (attack timer now set at 11:40)
10:53 frank shoots at you
10:55 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 11:40+1 hour = 12:40)
11:23 tom shoots at you
11:24 you return fire at tom (attack timer now set at 12:40+1 hour = 13:40)

Now, the second version of this would be to allow continuous return fires.

So say I shoot at Squishy. We can continuously shoot at each other, back and forth, until one of us dies or stops returning fire. This would boost our shot timers an hour for each shot, but we would be able to fight each other.

For Example:

10:40 kill bob (attack timer now set at 11:40)
10:53 frank shoots at you
10:55 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 11:40+1 hour = 12:40)
10:55 frank returns fire
10:55 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 12:40+1 hour = 13:40)
10:56 frank returns fire
10:56 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 13:40+1 hour = 14:40)
10:57 frank returns fire
10:58 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 14:40+1 hour = 15:40)
11:23 tom shoots at you
11:24 you return fire at tom and kill him (attack timer now set at 15:40+1 hour = 16:40)
16:40 kill joe (attack timer now set at 17:40)

What do you think of this suggestion?

IN THE SAME CITY. Sorry. The battle cannot span across cities.

Would this not stack everything in favor of the bigger guns unfairly?

Person A from Wisconsin is a six month old heavy hitter with a bunch of bodyguards. Person B is from Minnesota, and is six weeks having his last character die of a wackback. He has trained his gun well, although not quite the level of person A.

Wisconsin wars Minnesota. Wisconsin has fewer people, but larger guns and more bodyguards. Eventually, after Minnesota has taken out a number of bodyguards, Person B is tasked with attempting to kill Person A. He goes in with a 50/50 shot. Person A goes in with a 99% chance of killing person B. Person A kills Person no name C, and Person B tries his luck.
Fails.
Now person A can shoot person B less than a minute after killing person no name C? And should another person try after that (assuming this 'new' shot voids Person A's pro) person A would be capable of killing a third person in less than five minutes. Would this be considered too far off balance, allowing one person to wield far too much power?

Report Post Tip

No, it wouldn't cause person a to lose their pro, it's strictly a shoot back

Report Post Tip

I like the first version but not the 2nd.

Report Post Tip

This would for sure make wars a shit load shorter.

Report Post Tip

I would see this working if the % of that person actually hitting the first shooter was the same percentage as Wackback now

Report Post Tip

Pro's wouldn't be taken into account at all?

Report Post Tip

I like the idea but I think there needs to be some kind of cap on how many times you can go back and forth because otherwise you could potentially spend all day going back and forth with the same person until one dies or stops shooting

Report Post Tip

That's pretty much the idea Ricob. It simulates a shoot out in a real mob war. Think of it like this, in a real mob war if you're target doesn't die on the first shot, are you going to stop shooting and be all "Ok, I missed, he's alive, let's find someone else." I think not, you're going to try to kill him. But after that first shot you want to make damn sure that he isn't going to try to kill you. If he doesn't, he might not have known who it was, so you're in the clear.

Otherwise it's a fight to the death. You shooting at him, him shooting at you.

Report Post Tip

Any other input on this by anyone?

Report Post Tip

wow... a very fresh idea... question?... would this only take place in war? or during a war?...

Report Post Tip

I have a question or two about a pro'shot...

10:40 you kill bob (attack timer now set at 11:40)

10:53 frank shoots at you

10:55 you return fire at frank (attack timer now set at 11:40+1 hour = 12:40)
10:56 (pro'shot?)

So after you return the shot at 10:55, you're obviously going to be vulnerable to another shot from Frank. But, are you vulnerable to any other shot besides Frank as well?

If so....

Is it possible to receive a pro'shot immediately after the 10:55 shot to protect yourself from a manual wackback and all other shots?

Report Post Tip

I reckon this has the potential of having some what negative draw backs. As it will in the long run make wars much shorter and few and far between.

We're already at a time when war is rare, so to say that one person will have the potential of going through a whole family on no more than 1 hour to 2 hours. E.g. He is an OWP hitter with 300+ kills, he may go through the city in a way similar to this:

10:40 kill bob (attack timer now set at 11:40)
10:53 frank shoots at you
10:55 you return fire at frank and kill him (attack timer now set at 11:40+1 hour = 12:40)
10:55 tom shoots at you
10:55 you return fire at tom and kill him (attack timer now set at 12:40+1 hour = 13:40)
10:56 jack shoots at you
10:56 you return fire at jack and kill him (attack timer now set at 13:40+1 hour = 14:40)
10:57 Clyde shoots at you
10:58 you return fire at clyde and kill him (attack timer now set at 14:40+1 hour = 15:40)
11:23 Batman shoots at you
11:24 you return fire at batman and kill him (attack timer now set at 15:40+1 hour = 16:40)
and so on...

I just don't see the benefits in this idea. Wars will happen less, because city heads are going to BG up their top hitters and send them out into the war just to wade through the shots that break their pro so they can fire back, bringing the war to an end in no more than a hour.

Report Post Tip

Could you do the same thing with pickpocket and the sorta thing?

Report Post Tip

RampagingFox, that is the real positive of this change and I've been trying to play Devil's Advocate coming up with negatives to this - unsuccessfully.

With the BG changes, uncapped and killable, wars now extend into days rather than hours. Even winning a few of these leaves you asking if it was really worth it and 9/10 times it wasn't.

If the idiot hitsquad leader in your scenario send 6 hitters in a row after a big target without weakening it, hell they deserve slaughtering.

This would be a great addition, potentially reducing the time of a war drastically without (from my understanding) drastically altering anything else.

Good suggestion.

RampagingFox, as has been said before, the shoot-backs would NOT remove the protection of the shot at person. So if PersonA shoots PersonB and personB shoots back, PersonC can't come in and shoot PersonB until AFTER PersonB's pro-time would NORMALLY run out.

Report Post Tip

put it like that, seems fair...

Report Post Tip

Well that answers my questions hehe!

In THAT Case.

I'm down for the second example. Continuous fire seems like a great addition. As Grin pointed out this will punish idiot HSLs and well....staying up for 3 days sucks.

Badly.

Also how would BG wacks work? Someone shoots at your BG can you return fire aswell? Perhaps a new BGWB system in place aswell.

Back when I can think of moar wackchanges. :)
