Immediately I have no idea what you base this on. Clearly it was not the content, because you and just about every poster prior to you have agreed with me and at the very least noted that "what you said does have merit". I have one of the most established and knowledgeable bloodlines within our cities and whilst it is nice to take people under your wing (Prem/Gaius example being applicable given that you can't seem to make a post without mentioning it) sometimes people need the tough love. Letting Bobblegob convince himself that he did great things as Death-Knight would likely give him an over-rated opinion of himself and his past performance. Therefore he would try to emulate rather than improve. This would be bad for him, bad for St Louis and bad for MafiaReturns.

The fact that you would sit and be little a man that even ACHIEVED the rank of Godfather in the first place is disgusting.

Wait, what? Believe me, if I was belittling Bobblegob, he would know about it. Probably something akin to the puppy statement I started this with. Unfortunately, not every Godfather is great, Tallien's successor in New Orleans is at the forefront of my mind as I think of them, and as my learned friend TitoSantana points out, it isn't quite the milestone and pinnacle of perfection it once was. There are doubtlessly legends amongst the Godfathers of yesteryear and some of our current crop as well, but it doesn't apply to all of them.

If you expect me, in the OOC forum, to defer to someone who made huge mistakes and allow them to credit themselves on a job well done, then you going to be perpetually disappointed. What started off as a thread with DK clearing his chest, possibly more for himself than for those 3 or more that had questioned him, has now turned into a bit of a verbal bashng about his previous account.

I don't believe there was any intention by DK to "big up" his Godfather account so to speak. Although things may have gone wrong on his past account, I believe as many others do that people can change from whatever mistakes they have made in the past.

Whether the post was neccessary or not to previous posters is irrelevant, what is relevant is that DK found it neccessary and so has decided as I said, to clear his chest and perhaps to profess to everyone that if a chance to become a Godfather came up again, he would think twice about the consequences of taking up such a position. I for one applaud him, for he has already learned one valuable lesson that some of us are reluctant to admit. That lesson being that we all make mistakes and we can all move on from them.

I don't think an explanation was necessary either, but quite frankly if Bobblegob came out and said "I retired my DK account simply because it wasn't fun for me anymore", that would have been just as good a reason as any. MafiaReturns is a game. If the kid had exams and felt that MR was interfering with them, then more power to him for stepping away. Towards the end of his reign, I doubt it was too pleasurable an experience for him, and certainly not one worth flunking his classes for.

As for the people that have used this thread as a vehicle to shit on the guy, sure he had his fair share of issues that eventually snowballed into him losing control of his city. Perhaps you all would have handled it better than him if you were faced with the same circumstances. Probably not though (well, maybe my Grinnybear would have). As far as his legacy though, compare DK's funeral with some of your own father's funerals and see who was more appreciated in their role.

You know what, if Bobblegob wants to think that he did the best he could whilst acting as Godfather of New Orleans as Death-Knight, then so be it. Embrace your perceived awesomeness, Bobblegob!

I may have got this wrong but from memory you were a UK
based player, so you have quit on your Godfather account because your GCSE's
were coming up. I swear GCSE's are sat in June but that's a side issue. Between
2nd November and now there is not even a month so there isn't much
chance that you could have sat all your GCSE's.

I haven't been a godfather but I imagine that if you have
the correct structure in place it should be a breeze using delegation to the
right people. Hell Clause has managed it twice but he has had Sprozz to lean on....

The OOC forum is for out of character game related discussions, occasionally there will be updates regarding the game posted in the OOC forum rather than the News forum.

Out.. of.. Character. It has nothing to do with your character Caius. It's the player behind the character speaking here. You do know the difference between "out of character" and "in character" right? If you wish to refer to this in an in character discussion I suggest the Streets where our characters speak as our characters, that's call role play. What people are sharing here are not the feelings of their characters, but their feelings as a person who plays this game.

As for flaming? I see an intelligent and well spoken conversation on Grin's side, while yours is resembling that of a bumbling idiot grasping at straws trying to win an argument that really has no point as you DID agree with what Grin said in the first place.

This post was about a man who just had to let something out. I dont like to see people saying he shouldnt have posted this, I myself was wondering why Deathknight really retired but didnt actually know who his next character was to ask. I've seen a lot more shit posted in the OOC forum and the streets that has recieved more positive replies then this one. Now i guess we can all agree DK was not the best GF but he was a great CL and better then most of the idiots who manage to become bold. I think Grassboy knew this too and thats why he gave DKs new character another chance at CL cause he was good at it.

Also bobblegob there is no need for you to apologize to people for posting this thread. I see nothing wrong with it and it actually makes ya think how much this game can consume our daily lives if we let it.

Bobblegob, I respect you for coming out and posting. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea, but the fact that you are taking the beating and insults of others, who probably shouldn't be talking because they aren't perfect either, shows guts. You have been a good friend of mine and always looked out for me. You made a mistake and others should forgive and forget. Holding grudges never got anyone anywhere except for taking a few steps backwards.

Also! Even if what you did was a stupid idea, it created action. Wars started and people were able to do what they had trained for. I honestly think it made things even more interesting for a while. Yea, it made a lot of people mad, but the only people who should matter are the ones that have already forgave you. The rest don't need an explanation. So my advice, forget them and ignore the idiots who bother you about this. If people can't respect your decision then tell them to pack their bags becase you're done with them.
