| Possible Change to DFPs | Started by: LukeSkywalker on Dec 29, '15 14:18 |

Having read the previous thread about DFP changes, I almost posted my thoughts to it. Instead though I figure its better if I post my own thread as the idea I had is vastly different. Kudos to that person and their one line though that made me sit and think about this...
I think there should be something done about DFPs. They are just a goldmine for people that can grab them. Contrary to what Cordelia said, I'm not sure that the population is still a factor. Its my understanding there are a limit to 3 per district now and I've not heard of that being exceeded. I think perhaps the best solution would be to make them restricted by Rank. Currently the higher the rank, the better the drug. Instead I think you should always have the option of whichever drug you wish to use and can only purchase the DFP between Gangster and Wise Guy. If you are promoted to Made Man, you lose the drug lab. This would be to allow the lower ranks a chance to make money, but would also ensure there was a frequent change of ownership in the Labs. Right now a lab could be owned somewhat indefinitely by a high rank. Sure, they have a minor requirement to Bribe, but its not hard. Especially with things like Custom timers and Apps that send us Alerts. Plus add in the fact there are people that have the Perk where they can set the bribe for a very long period. Also when a new district is opened is usually the only time to grab one, which means its always going to be the CL and their chosen few that get it. Subject to then waiting for it to be lost by someone, the chances of ever having one are very slim which is a shame for the majority of the community. How would this improve the game? Wealth is spread a little, allowing those that otherwise couldn't afford various features to then invest in them, such as CAs, BGs and timers. How would this have a negative impact? I could imagine some people might remain at Wise Guy to remain in control of their DFP, which would make it somewhat pointless to alter. But this requires sacrifice on their part through other things, such as the loss of income from Organise Crime. So I don't see the impact being very negative. |

It's 6 per district, not 3 :) I don't think restricting it to associates helps a SINGLE bit honestly. Example; I'm a 45 unit Don without a dfp. "Hey boss, can I leave, you reinvite me and I buy a DFP and stay at wiseguy? I'll make more money that way". It's effortless money really.
Not sure where you're getting that? I've seen DOZENS of people (Crew leaders, Dons, yadda yadda) Lose their DFP's before. I've personally gotten a DFP for many of my accounts under the rank of earner in BUSY districts. It's not hard. I click on the 'Buy DFP' out of habit and it's mostly the same, none available, but sometimes you get lucky. Alternatively, I have 'Drug lab raided' in my mIRC highlights for #divinelunacy, so if one gets raided, I know about it immediately. It's effort, but it's not impossible.
Uhh.. Wealth is already so easily acquirable with 1 little thing.. Effort. I make millions per day at wiseguy and I have a good feeling I outearn many people above my rank. I don't think this needs to be changed at all. Maybe it's just our family here; But usually when a member wants a feature such as CA's, BGs, timers, the family helps and we give them the knowledge and communication to help them achieve what they want to do. Need credits? #Divinelunacy once every 24 hours.
It depends on their rank to be honest I suppose. I'd much rather get a free 450k a day than a possibility for more from OC's. What if my city is small and I don't get OCs done very often? Although, if such a suggestion was to make it through, I think them remaining at wiseguy and losing out on a higher % of OC money is a decent mid factor to negate them winning completely.
It's not a bad idea, you have brought up some okay points, but personally I do not like it. I don't think it has any reason nor need to change right now. |
