THE MISSION TO MOLAR HILL

The year is 1942 my name is Jacky Nixon and im a lieutenant in the European war. Under my captains orders me and my platoon shall invade Poland and release a town called molar hill which wasn't its real name it was just called that cause of the germans dug in so good like moles, and its large hill that it's lying on. Under my command are 4 sergeants you got Bucky he's a vet, he also try to be like John Wayne which he's from Alabama, so I guess that's why he plays that role pretty good, but he's a small feller with a big attitude. Priest, he's my other sergeant, they call him priest cause that's what he was before the war, but he's about plain as a stick so ant much to talk about him just a kind of man that you would go to for advise.

Johnny he's a wild cat, and boy he sure can talk a lot of smack. Johnny is a little bulky and doesn't have much knowledge of what he says most of the time. Johnny has a lot of heart and god knows if everyone had his spirit we could end this war in 2months. Finally you got Nick; Nick is this broad shoulder man, with a square jaw, and his got this serious look on all the time, like a man you wouldn't wanna get into a fight with. Anyhow that's my 4 sergeants which they consist of 8 men each. Were headed across the border into Poland this is the story of my platoons' version of the war....

I'm leading the pack of men toward a town which seems to be already bombed by the allies. All we can see are crumbles of the brick buildings surrounding fire and smoke. We halt about 10 clicks in front of the town, and I order all sergeants to a tree "aight, lads I need my sergeants over here" I say. We all gather around like a football huddle and I start to speak "ok, we ant got much Intel on this town, so Bucky I need you to send out a cpl of scouts to see what's left in that town." Bucky replies " aw hell boss let me and my men go in there and tear it up with nothing, but are m1s." Nick burst in with a few words "yea, you go and do that will be setting up your grave just for you." Bucky just stands there and says nothing. "aight men calm down, Bucky do as I say." Bucky replies "yes sir."

Well 10 minutes done gone bye and the scouts report there is no enemy in site, so we move on into the town, and by damn by time we got to the front entrance enemy machine gun nest open fire on us. I yell "get down, get down behind the rumble!" heck I layed down right were I was, and started looking around all I seen was bullets firing over my head, men going in chaos to take cover, and Bucky yelling out saying "is that all you got? Bring on the heat baby!!" priest was looking like he seen a ghost, he didn't even try to move or anything he just buckled up behind this bolder, and started to pray.

Nick runs over to me and says "I got 4 men sweeping tha right flank, and Johnny and his men are taking tha left flank, so you and the rest of the platoon hold here with cover fire." About 5mints latter of constant fire from both ends and left to right, we seem to have taken some ground. Once I observed the towns middle I noticed it was only about 10 Nazis holden the center fountain, and bye that time Johnny hade swooped around them. Then all the sudden you hear nick yelling and his men charging the right side of the nest bunker, and then one of nicks men throws a nade in tha nest window with a Boom! Following that throw. 4 german soldiers run out the back, and was wanting to surrender, but johnnys crew open fire upon them. After all the yelling and gun fire done stop 10 germans lay dead, an 3 of priests men are injured.

I heard priest start to talk beside me "Johnny you idiot those men were gonna surrender" Johnny replies " well, hell priest they didn't look like they wanted to surrender about 5mints ago" priest shouts with anger " no need to do more bloodshed as needs to be done". I jump in before the arguing continues "listen up!" "check on the hurt, and Johnny you and your men search the town". Well Johnny does as he is told, and we set camp here for tonight so we can rest. All the men are in separate groups around different fires, but its always the lieutenant an sergeants at the same fire. Well we all sitting there afraid to talk about the little surrending situation earler. Nick starts to speak "boss, I hate to say, but if all these little towns are like this we will never make it to molar hill".

His eyes are glared at the fire with a facial expression of no hope. I know deep down that he is right, but part of my job is to keep the mens morale up so I speak back with some consent of humor " well nick with men like ya'll im sure we could reach all the way to Berlin" all 4 sergeants starts to laugh. Johnny goes on talking about some chick he use to date back in Tennessee, and Bucky well, Bucky gets up and starts walking toward an old library that use to be standing out from the rest of the crumbled town, and I soon follow him to see what's bothering him. "Bucky what's the matter man?" Bucky replies "sir, I didn't get much action today, and I figure since I came all this way why should I sit on the sidelines." I respond with so few words "well no man goes 100,000miles away from home to do nothing." I didn't really even listen to myself, heck I would love to set on the sidelines or go home from this madness. Bucky glares at me like a starving dog on a cold night looking to get inside and says "I guess your right sir."

Well me an Bucky depart from each other and all soldiers hit the nap sack. I couldn't go asleep that night without thinking of the next day, so I stared off at the glazing stars and wondered what tomorrow holds for us soldiers....... To be continue
