Well, today I did a search for the name "Panda" because I was thinking my next account should use the name. What I found disappointed me.

The system has kept a name from February. Before you start correcting me, I know that if it is the master account, it will not be deleted until they make a new one. My suggestion is that all inactive names before a certain date be deleted. Chances are if someone has a character still in the database from February and are not actively playing, they are not coming back.

I am not sure how hard this would be to change.

Pros: People will not be limited in their name choice because some random gangster from three months back took the name and went IA.

Cons: I do not see any.

Feedback please?

yea i agree with you Bloedsuier i mean if some one hasnt made a new character since febuary they arnt going to make a new one.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.. On occasion people take an extended leave from the game and do return.

Well, in that case, they could resign up. I just do not think there should be accounts from months back sitting in the database.

If they were deleted, it would make the database less cluttered and it would give people a bit more choice with their names.

No disrespect at all, but this suggestion is quite easily sorted with a simple solution that doesn't require any change to coding.

Lets take the name Panda for example you can add a characteristic or some kind of adjective. So thinking of a Panda drinking alcohol (quite odd I know) but then it can become DrunkenPanda.

Or even if you take me I went from simply being "Fox" to "RampagingFox" whether there is already a "Fox" in the database I don't know but the modifier gives the account some kind of character.

45 days and you would have a cleaner database but thats relatively short.
If anybody can tell me why people would not log into the game for over a month to then just start playing again.

Perhaps the odd extended holiday but not commonly done..

Kerrrupt is quite right. 45 days does seem quite fair to all involved.

However, I do feel that Godfathers and Godmothers should never be deleted. That is simply because of what was achieved. You already have something like that implemented, I believe.

That is the point, RampagingFox, we should not need to do that every time we make another account. I mean, if someone has recently used a name, yeah, it is quite obvious you would not need to use it.

Look at it in an RP perspective. Our names are like nicknames of the people we impersonate. Take mine into consideration. Alexander "Bloedsuier" Nacht. Of course, no one would be able to steal that name from me anytime soon. However, if in a few months(In RP that would be several years) someone popped back up with the name, that would be fine. It has happened in history.
