So for you fellow College Football Fans...

6pm this evening ND announced they have fired Charlie Weis (no surprise, you can't be the ND had coach and lose that many games).  So the questions arises - who will ND find to replace Weis?  Will it be another colleges Head Coach making the move or will they bring in another former assistant from the NFL?  Will they promote up a current assistant (like they did with bob davie)?  Will they make another complete error in vetting like they did with Kent Baer? 

Regardless, Weis is leaving with a fat pocket of cash... I'm sure it was quite the chunk of cash to buy of his contract (through 2015)...

No one is going to come in and live up to the expectations that Notre Dame has. Granted, Weis failed misserably, but Notre Dame supporters still believe that school is a title contender and they're not. I look for them to throw alot of money at Tommy Tuberville and the coach from Boise State.

It does not matter who they bring in, they will still fail.

They could bring is Meyer and I gurantee they would be better. But he's staying in Florida :)

I would bring in John Gruden...with the right pay check Im sure he would sign on with the program. Not sure how he would fare in college ball but what the hell give it a shot, he's young and a great coach. Or they could just hire me for $10,000 a year :)

Your right about ND having high standards, and while thats great for the student player it does handicap the program (unfortunately. ND players have to know how to spell and not just be athletes).

Every time this happens I chuckle to myself about how the alumni who pushed Holtz out have yet another reason to regret that decision. 

Whoever they decide to bring in they need to be smart and hire a head coach... an experienced head coach.  Weis was great for our offense, but we've seen what happened on the other side of the ball over the years.  Methinks weis learned a valuable lesson about laying all his effort on one side.

Maaybe they should look to south of tennessee to find a coach... Bobby Bowden is available

Well Golden Tate and Jimmy Clausen both announced today they're going to NFL and not returning..

Not a surprise for me, with the cap being put on in next year, the ones who CAN go now likely will...

Seems it's Brian Kelly coming to ND. 

I found it rather poorly handled by Kelly in regards to how he handled things with his current team.  Not sure how he could have gone about it differently and still please both sides, but he really hurt his cincinnati players feelings.

ND is in trouble, losing tate and clausen.

lol, you say that as if ND wasn't already in trouble ;)  Clausen is a good QB, but I'm not sold that he's the rock star he was made out to be.  Tate, however, he's gonna go far.

I heard Dan Marino's going back to school to be their QB :S

Tate is a very good player and Im sure will go far but as you said Clausen isnt the greates.

Well, ND has tried the 'move an asst to head coach' move and the 'grab someone from the pros' move... about time they actually hired a college football Head Coach. 

jim harbaugh said he was happy at stanford and he didnt plan on leaving. not that a college coaches word means anything thou.

Nd got cins coach and now the cins ofense cordinator has to step up lol
