The Last Letter. Started by: Merlion on Jan 17, '16 12:17

Merlion just got off a boat from a distant land. He was in search of his father. Holding on to the piece of parchment so dearly, he travelled by foot to the given address. Walking through New York, he was horrified looking at the pile of bodies that was strewn all over the place. He heard gunshots when the boat was docking in the harbor, but never did he imagined for it to be this massive. Trying not to trip on any of the bodies, he managed to reach his destination. He recieved a letter that held a key and a note the week before.

The letter wrote,

I'm sorry I've been neglecting you all this time, Son. It would mean the world to me if you could drop by and visit me in NY, Brooklyn. We have plenty to catch up on.  I've attached a key to this letter, so you can have access to it anytime you drop by.

Heaven's Guard HQ

Brooklyn, New York.

-Ilammo

It has been years since Merlion last seen his father, who left to find better opportunities in the city. Checking twice that he's got the correct address, he slotted the key in and unlocked the huge, wooden doors.

It was full with boxes. It seems like his father has just moved into the place. He was wandering down the hallway, looking for any sign of life when he came upon a corpse. She was a fine looking lady but she had a gunshot wound straight to her head. She was pretty. At this point, Merlion was no longer fearful of any dead body after tripping on a few on his way here. He pushed on and ended up in front of a door, with a brass nameplate emblazoning on the red, meranti door reading "Don Ilammo"

Merlion knew this was his father's office. He knew what was behind this door, as he can see light creeping out from the bottom of it, but it was silent. He grabbed the knob and mentally prepared himself. He knew, that whatever was behind this door is no longer living in this world.

Ilammo was dead, right at the end of this long room. Merlion noticed that his father was holding on to his gun, and there was a single shell at the end of the room. His father died duelling someone. Merlion was speechless. He felt no remorse, as he wasn't close to his dad but it was weird looking at him lifeless. Ilammo had a gentle smile on his face. It was a smile that could comfort a crying baby. Merlion had to walk away from his deceased father and approached the big oak desk that was sitting infront of the fireplace. There was a note. It was clear that Ilammo had plenty of time to write that, as it occupied two piece of parchment. Merlion sat on the chair that once housed his father, and began reading.

Most of my friends are dead. I've just set up HQ by the orders of my boss, Don Sinfest and less than a few hours, everybody was dead. I have little regrets living this life, maybe I should've gotten that last mug of milk before I have to lock myself in here. I'm dying from thirst being locked up in this office which took me ages to achieve. I shall embrace the GrimReaper when the time comes. RoryRourke is on his way here right now and I'm writing this letter as a note to all the remaining survivors of THC. It's been fun knowing all of you. I'm sorry our adventure ended so abruptly. I only wish things turned out a different way and we'd still be having fun in HQ. All the best for your future endeavors and hopefully, we'll meet in hell again one day.

To my son, I have only one request. Do not bear grudges on those who decided on my execution. I chose this path and I would much rather go down with the sinking ship than bailing and saving my own skin. Loyalty is hard to find in this world of ours, but I hold it with high regard. It was a pleasure to have met everyone, every mafioso from all the different cities. I've been through countless of wars, and I'm glad that I will see no more of it. It is painful losing friends, but what is more painful, is not being able to apologize to you. For not being there when you were growing up. I hope you grow to be a useful member of the community. Be it here in the mafia, or the outside world.

I guess my time is up. I can hear Rory's footstep approaching . Gotta go find my lucky coin.

Love,

Ilammo.

Merlion finished reading and pushed the letter away. Tears were now streaming down his pained face.  He collected his belonging and left the premises. Never again will Merlion step in New York, Brooklyn.
