Merlion just got off a boat from a distant land. He was in search of his father. Holding on to the piece of parchment so dearly, he travelled by foot to the given address. Walking through New York, he was horrified looking at the pile of bodies that was strewn all over the place. He heard gunshots when the boat was docking in the harbor, but never did he imagined for it to be this massive. Trying not to trip on any of the bodies, he managed to reach his destination. He recieved a letter that held a key and a note the week before.
The letter wrote,
It has been years since Merlion last seen his father, who left to find better opportunities in the city. Checking twice that he's got the correct address, he slotted the key in and unlocked the huge, wooden doors. It was full with boxes. It seems like his father has just moved into the place. He was wandering down the hallway, looking for any sign of life when he came upon a corpse. She was a fine looking lady but she had a gunshot wound straight to her head. She was pretty. At this point, Merlion was no longer fearful of any dead body after tripping on a few on his way here. He pushed on and ended up in front of a door, with a brass nameplate emblazoning on the red, meranti door reading "Don Ilammo" Merlion knew this was his father's office. He knew what was behind this door, as he can see light creeping out from the bottom of it, but it was silent. He grabbed the knob and mentally prepared himself. He knew, that whatever was behind this door is no longer living in this world.
Ilammo was dead, right at the end of this long room. Merlion noticed that his father was holding on to his gun, and there was a single shell at the end of the room. His father died duelling someone. Merlion was speechless. He felt no remorse, as he wasn't close to his dad but it was weird looking at him lifeless. Ilammo had a gentle smile on his face. It was a smile that could comfort a crying baby. Merlion had to walk away from his deceased father and approached the big oak desk that was sitting infront of the fireplace. There was a note. It was clear that Ilammo had plenty of time to write that, as it occupied two piece of parchment. Merlion sat on the chair that once housed his father, and began reading.
Merlion finished reading and pushed the letter away. Tears were now streaming down his pained face. He collected his belonging and left the premises. Never again will Merlion step in New York, Brooklyn. |
