Mano di Morte Rises Started by: Anna on Jan 18, '16 23:19

The last 24 hours had been a whirlwind for Anna. After the heartbreak of saying goodbye to her beloved Godfather Kimble, she found herself in the unlikely position of being offered a crew of her own, where she might try to bring some of her old friends and family who had been seperated, under Godfather Ronin in Old City District, Philadelphia. What better place to try to bring together her old New York family and friends than the city of brotherly love?

She'd set about trying to think of a name for her crew, and had sat for several hours staring into the fire flickering in the fireplace of her small apartment. As the fire was burning down and Anna was almost dozing, she felt something of a calling stirring inside her.

It was her history, her families ancient history. History that went beyond the very shores she stood on and history that predated her bloodline, but history that shaped her, to this day. It was a name and a way of life that she would always be proud of and that she would always try to live up to, and it was, right at that moment, absolutely perfectly clear to her what this new crew would be called.

Jumping to her feet, Anna called up Roland, who shared similar, though longer, history to herself. She was so excited that she could barely get the words out to explain the thoughts that had come into her mind, tripping over her words and stuttering her sentences. The result of the call was that he jumped on the next flight to the states, eager to share in the family history.

Her next calls were to Nighthawk and Predrag, would would stand before her, some of the last of Godfather Kimble's district and two of her dearest friends in the world, as her right and left hand men. She arranged to meet them by the building that Godfather Ronin had assigned to her, and hung up, almost ready to set off into the night.

The final thing she had to do before leaving involved the quick and virgorous search of a box of possesions so old that the cardboard almost fell apart at her light touch. At the bottom of the box was a tarnished, silver plaque, salvaged by a far distant ancestor in a far off land. On it were engraved the three words, "Mano di Morte", in neat script. Anna held it tightly and nodded. The plaque would hang by the wall of her new building, and those three words would be tattooed to the skin of all those who called her family home. It was time for Mano di Morte to find it's new generation.

She arrived to meet Nighthawk and Predrag a few minutes early, and set about fixing the plaque securely to the wall of the building. As the two arrived, Anna smiled and hugged them both in greeting. Without another word, she turned to face the streets.

"Ladies and gentlemen. It is with great pride and pleasure that I stand before you today, a proud member of the city of Philadelphia and ready to join the ranks of the fine folk already leading this city.

A little over a day ago, I was mourning deeply the death of Godfather Kimble, a man I will miss deeply - a man of conviction and strength and a man who gave me a home and tried to see my worth. A friend and a comrade.

Today, however, I stand before you excited, and ready to face the challenges ahead. Today, I am bringing to our world a legacy, a name that means family more than any other to me, a name that means honour, loyalty and respect. I am bringing Mano di Morte to our streets, and continuing an ancient and long lost legacy.

I would like to thank Godfather Ronin, not only for the opportunity to bring this legacy to a new life, but also for allowing me to set up here in Philadelphia. It brings me great happiness to begin to provide a home to some of the survivors of the horrors of war that New York has seen in the last week and great happiness to begin to provide a home to some new faces too.

Mano di Morte is open for busines and accepting new members; if you are family orientated, loyal and able to crack a fantastic pun, please get in touch with myself, or one of my sponsors."

Congratulations, Anna.

Your line has certainly been here before, but never with me. I have read in granpappy Vegeta's journal that your ancestor was to be his left hand in Queens, just before he got the entire district decimated. Heh.

I am looking forward to having you here in Philly and expect big things from you.

Still dressed in the black suit he had worn to the funerals of Godfather Kimble and JackRuby, Malcolm stood in the street listening to Anna's speech. Those two were dear to him, and he still mourned their passing. Nevertheless, this was a time for looking forward not back, and he had much cause for optimism.

"Anna, we have worked together for a long time now, from our first days in Kimble's HQ as lowly thugs up to this point now. We will both miss him, but to see you here today having been given the keys to your own HQ is a very proud moment. It is up to us to do proud the memory of our fallen comrades, and I know that we have the greatest of opportunities to achieve this with you. Congratulations, and I can't wait to get started."

Malcolm handed Anna a bottle of the finest Scotch he had brought with him on the journey from his homeland all that time ago. He had been saving it for a special occasion. This undoubtedly was one such occasion.

Anna, your credibility and or judgement  looks quite smeared  on a previous note.  Keep drowning the qualified and you might get as bored as we are.

Standing in the street in disbelief, Malcolm watched as Yoddle stood there frantically waving telegrams and talking gibberish. Out of nowhere, he heard a shot and watched Yoddle fall to the ground. Normal service promptly resumed.

Making her way to the new HQ of her good friend Anna, Lucy was a tad tipsy after trying a test batch of Rory's latest moonshine. The stuff had made her eyes water, her legs tremble and when she looked down her blouse to see if it had put any hairs on her chest she was pleased it hadn't. Deciding that this was a gift to bring the fabulous new Leader in Philly, Lucy also grabbed a box of varying fruits and vegetables from the local market on the way.

Anna my love! I am so happy that you have got this opportunity to lead a crew. I know you are a hard worker, just what we need in these dire times.

Lucy stepped forward and embraced Anna then handed her the box of fresh produce with a wink and a smile

I've also brought you a bottle of RoryRourke's latest moonshine sensation...I am sure you will love it!

Lucy's attention was drawn by the rambling of some strange little man, garbling his words and throwing bits of paper up in the air. Lucy turned to Anna and rolled her eyes.

Oh dear, I think this poor guy tried a dodgy batch of moonshine, I recognise the signs. He should have stuck with Rourke's Moonshine, its much more superior..I wouldnt like to be in his head if he wakes up tomorrow!

Anyhoo deary, I just want to wish you the best of luck with your family and the great city of Philly.

walking down the road whistling out of tune he stumbled across a large group of people surrounding this person who he did not know as he never met before but stands there and listens to what's being said, he steps bit closer to hear whats going on but as he gets there the speech has finished and then he suddenly realises its another family in the making and smiles and thinks too himself Philadelphia will be nice with another family even so for making new friends and partnership's, he pulls a letter out his black shiny leather jacket and asks the person in front to deliver this message to the new family leader which says "Hope you enjoy your stay and if need any help or what so ever then please dont hesitate to ask" and he opens up his wallet and slides five thousand dollers into the envelope with the letter hands it to the messenger and walks off whistling out of tune to continue his daily routine

Samael stands and listens to his old friend give her speech smiling as he did so, for this was indeed a happy moment a ray of light in a world that has been quite dark of late, he watched as Anna finished her words and then listened to what some of the people that had gathered had to say..

One thing stood out though a small gentleman seemed to appear from nowhere talking gibberish about drowning or something which was somewhat confusing given that Anna spends every sunday afternoon teaching us all how to swim! good exercise she says although I'd rather be down the pub having a pint, ah well I suppose I had better say something.

Congratulations my dear it trully is wonderful to see you given the opportunity to run your own business, our families have known each other for generations so I have no doubt whatsoever you will do a fantastic job, I am thrilled to be going on this journey with you as you know you have always been a very dear friend to me and I wish you all the best for the future, much love.

Roland had been reading through the same ancient leather bound journal since he began his journey to see Anna. Once the call came in, he retrieved this artifact from his safe deposit box. On it was a note scribed by his grandfather, to read through this journal when the time was right and the call was made. After reading through the journal, Roland began to understand. The dated yellow pages revealed much about an organization that once thrived, but had long since returned to the underground. An organization built on a code of respect.

Standing in the street before Anna's new office, Roland took a deep breath and composed himself before entering. He and Anna had much to discuss.

Entering the HQ, Roland was greeted by Anna, "
You missed the speech and celebration, old man!" Roland grinned smugly, "You know I would never intentionally miss you speak. How have you been?" The two moved to Anna's office to first catch up on lost times, then focus on the road ahead.

Once the discussion of initial HQ plans and family structuring was complete, Roland reached into his coat pocket and removed the journal, lying it on the table before Anna.
"It seems, dear, that we have taken on an old legacy. A burden as much as it is a pleasure. Read through this, and it will tell you everything you need to know. Most importantly, know that I am proud of you and believe in my heart that you were made for this. Congratulations, and here is to our future."

Seemingly from the moment he had re-entered association with the life of crime, Ras's mailbox had been overflowing with letters from those swearing they recognized him. Most of them went unanswered, though a fair few warranted responses. Of course he looked familiar. The Lazarus Pit and him had...an understanding, to say the least. Shaking that thought process for a moment, Ras began to sift through the piles of mail.

There were a few decent offers on the table, muffins, cookies, a Right Hand spot - presuming he lived long enough to take it, money, and even a quite scandalous offer involving a goat and some gold coins. That one was almost enticing enough for Ras to make up his mind, until he fell upon Anna's mail.

The woman was straight up and truthful, up front about her inability to offer 'the world' as they say. It wasn't hers to promise, she had stated simply, with a promise that at the very least they could have some fun. Ras pondered upon this for a few moments.

Sure, he could take the easy road, associate himself with some contacts his line knew were good to come through on their promises. But where was the excitement? The challenge? Ras didn't go through the painful reincarnation process of The Pit just to lead a mundane criminal life where he would be thoroughly bored and almost automatically promoted, after all. He wanted to work, to earn, and most of all...to have some fun.

And as he came to that realization, in that moment, he knew that Anna had him hooked. He would join the city of Philadelphia and become associated with Mano Di Morte. He would hold her to the promise of fun, if nothing else. With that thought in mind, Ras smiled and set out to the Streets where he knew there would be a gathering in Anna's honor.

Slinking his way from alley to alley, staying within the shadows, Ras proceeded to find the right group of people. There were quite a few familiar faces which was no surprise to him. Then there was the random babbler, and even an exciting appearance from one of the Gods. Heh. That was rare, Ras thought to himself before walking up to Anna.

Tapping her on the shoulder, Anna almost jumped out of her skin. Ras had that effect on people. All too often they didn't hear or see him coming until he spoke. With a slight grin on his face...

"Congratulations, Anna. Though I have only been officially associated with this crew for a day now, I must say it's an honor to be here. To be told up front and truthfully what's what, that was something I will never forget and it was quite refreshing to hear. I very much look forward to helping this family prosper and I can only hope that one day I can update the tag on my suit to read 'Member'."

Anna, this is great news. I know Kimble would be happy to see you here. He always held a special place for you in his heart. You have always been a good friend of mine and Ronin, and I know you will do great things for him and everyone else in Philadelphia. Please do visit Lucy to give her grass though. She gets a bit mad if she doesn't have her grass.

After the war that took his Godfather, and loyal comrade Kimble to an early grave, along with his trusted Right Hand Man Jack Ruby, Nighthawk found himself at a bar drowning his sorrows on a side street in Brookyn, a light flickering and a tear running down his face. Bodies were seen left, right and centre, while some loyal members who had made it through were digging graves for their lost leaders.

24 hours later, a welcome face came into the bar, one of Anna's bodyguards with a telegram to meet her in OCD, Philadelphia. He jumped into the nearby Sedan and sped off towards Philadelphia. He knew this news could go either way, good or bad and had so many thoughts of what she could want.

Arriving in Godfather-Goku's city, an honorable man he has worked before, Anna was standing outside a newly refurbished HQ. Nighthawk thought to himself 'This can't be!'. While Anna started her speech, he knew, he could see it in her eyes as she announced..... she'd be setting up her own HQ under Godfather-Chairman Goku. Without further ado, Nighthawk spoke:

'Anna, our lines have now great friends since our ancestors times in the Suburbs where I sat as your Underboss. Having worked so well together, our lines have never been apart since, and have now been around the block within this life of ours many a time, creating new stories and living the life of crime. It was an absolute tragedy that Godfather Kimble was gunned down along with Jack Ruby and the scars will never fade, but I can assure you his last words would've been to keep his legacy going into a new era'

Taking a breath, Nighthawk carried on.

'It would be an absolute honour, as always, to serve by your side as your Right Hand Man and help you grow OCD and Philadelphia under the reins of Godfather-Chairman @Goku. We're in good hands and I cannot wait to see the future holds for us and this great city'.

After handing Anna the finest bottle of whisky he could get his hands on, he sped off into the distance to get to start filling the HQ with potential mobsters fresh off the boat.

After speaking with Big_AL after his profound speech on the truth must be told, Tostitos was surely hyped to find some more truth. She heads down the road and is suddenly stopped by a familiar voice and face. Tostitos reaches for her phone and confirms recent news that involved this mafiaso.

Tostitos screams over the voices of the crowd that was apparently initiated Yoddle..

"Excuse me Anna. Aren't  the requirements to obtain what you are boasting/babbling about only gained through  backroom meetings with comrades across these shores? "

Tequila keeps a distance. He's not very known within Mano di Morte yet, but is very pleased to be a part of the new crew. Tequila has a great respect for the crew and the members a part of it. He does not say a word, he simply watches along. Tequila is also affected by the recent loss of his father, Vendetta.

Tequila vanishes from the scene shortly afterwards..

While mourning the loss of our great Godfather Kimble as well as many other good people, Misty realized she'd missed the grand celebration of Anna and her new family. Through her tears, Misty managed a smile and thought it time to put her sorrow aside and offer her new leader a few congratulatory words.

Congratulations Anna on your new family and HQ..It is indeed a grand place and I'm nothing short of positive that you'll do wonderful things with this opportunity. Cheers to a new adventure.
