Daisy. The word etched into his new brown leather journal. His pen the kind of pen that would make any hand writing look impeccable in its most refined black ink. The journal, It had that smell, about the kind that would bring him to the most perfect moment of memories. Those memories he chose to withhold to all but himself, until now. Those memories that nick nor Jordan knew about. Those memories that were simply shared by the two most absolutely flawed creatures, both Gatsby and Daisy. Gatsby had spent the entirety of his adult male life seeking after her heart. Changing the very core of who he was due to the shame of the past he was born into. If i could but touch you once more...Kiss you once more...Tell you that after all this time... The glowing green light caught his attention. It was, by every mark, the symbol of hope for him. The idea, the bare possibility, that one day she would be in his arms and he would kiss her lips once again. The light shone across the waves of the lake that distanced him from her. Suddenly it felt so near to him. He felt so close to her closer than almost he had ever felt before. His longing for her did not cease. His endless desire, perhaps most unfair and deeply saddening, that if nothing else, he loved the idea of her and not her herself. These written pages that were in his journal were no doubt kept from everyone but himself. A new fascination as it was no one really knew Gatsby. They only knew the man who portrayed himself on the outside. Gatsby, the first to seek out and the last to be sought. Perhaps due to his almost standoffish nature, or maybe it was due to a pretend sort of extroversion that would make others think that he was so interested about their daily lives. A riveting reflection of his love with Daisy, as it was always Gatsby who sought her, and her his possessions. Daisy never loved Gatsby, she as he so depressingly put it, loved money. But maybe just maybe she could love him. Wolfsheim is here for you sir. His butler in the fanciest of tuxedos loved working for Gatsby. He felt as though he was privleged to work for Jay. He was able to take off the weekends and ride the cars around town. He particpated in all the parties and loved every moment he shared with Gatsby. But Gatsby never shared a moment with him. No doubt Wolfsheim had some kind of scheme of murder, prostitution, bootlegging, or gambling that he wanted to bring Gatsby in. This is the reason why you know of Gatsby now. He is involved in your line of work. This was not something Gatsby particularly enjoyed, this type of work, but it was a means to an end, an end that involved being with Daisy. It was all to win her heart. Though those means were kept hidden and words were kept in the deepest recesses of omerta, Gatsby was simply known as a man who inherited a lot of wealth. No one ever knew him to be a man who situated himself with such thugs and gangsters. The Dons from on high favored him with a love that was more a love of what they could get from him. I will be down in a moment old sport. Gatsby was already dressed. He was wearing his classing grey three piece that he only wore when he was with or knew he would be seeing Wolfsheim. He only said this as he knew Wolfsheim, as a paranoid organized crime ring boss, was probably listening nearby, and he was not yet done writing. His focus was to get Daisy back. From here on Gatsby knew that he would be entering deeper into a world that did not forgive, a world that held murder as a thing to respect, a world that would forget your name tomorrow. Gatsby desired nothing of it except from what he could gain. He touched up his hair and proceeded down the hallway. Before walking down the staircase he paused and remembered he had yet to finish the simple introductory. He quickly turned back to his room. Picking up the pen he scribbled down the last words of the first page. I love you. There could be nothing greater than a man who would sacrifice for love. That of Gatsby, he decided to sacrifice his entire being for this one woman. Though she was married and now with a child that would not stop him from pursuing her. For you listener, i wish you to know, This will not be a story about Gatsby and his affairs with Wolfsheim. This will not be the story you have heard of with Jordan and Nick. Yet as they may incorporate all of these things This is, primarily, a story of Gatsby and Daisy in their younger and more vulnerable years. The time before he got shipped away in the great war. When he was still young and innocent. When he was but a poor farm boy who enlisted and fell in love with everything he ever longed for by sight alone. Who knew he would never recover the moment his lips met hers. This is the beginning of Gatsby and Daisy. If you follow closely you, who may know the story of Gatsby, will understand what attracted him so much to daisy. I am but your narrator a person who simply wishes to tell you about them. So enjoy the stories that will eventually fill your mind and have you wondering, eventually, "What if!" As you walk to your local move theater or grocery store you will find your heart riveting with thoughts of Daisy and Gatsby in their beautiful infatuated years. Mayor WolfSheim. It is an honor to have you hear. What sort of business do you have to speak with me about today old sport? |
