Hope Comes to a Pause Started by: JayGatsby on Jan 27, '16 18:20

Gatsby took out one of his favorite pens for his journal and began writing. The stillness on the lake really made him feel more calm than usual. He set the pen to the scratchy journal and began to scribble his thoughts down.

"I cant stop. I have to be with her. We were meant to be together. I have dreamed of someone like her all of my life. She is everything i long for. Everything i most desire in another. Once i kissed her i knew it would all change. Daisy. The most perfect person my heart could imagine."

Gatsby thought about the moment that for their first date they decorated a christmas tree together. She wasnt able to do that so he went out and bought one. He decided to get those wonderful christmas ornaments of a same theme. Red. They decorated that tree that night and spoke about the life of Hector. That hero of the war long past. He couldnt stop thinking about her.

Sir...Someone is at the door for you. I was not allowed to ask for a name.

IN these cases it was undoubtedly someone most important. Someone with a type of flash that was blinding to even the most keen eye. This person was perhaps well guarded and secured to be past the gates. They had to be someone classy and dangerous otherwise those guards would not have let them enter.

Gatsby set his pen on his journal and kept it closed. He immediately went over to the mirrior and began adjusting his tie. Staring at himself he found himself lost in a trance. What if it was Daisy. What if the butler did not want to ruin the surprise. What if she knew that all this time all these parties Gatsby was waiting for her. For her to be ready as he was always ready.

I...Im not ready old sport. Please entertain her at the door.

At your command Mr. Gatsby.

He didnt correct Gatsby. It was a her. He rushed to his room and immediately threw clothes around trying to find the most proper outfit to wear. Was it Nick? Did he invite her over? Was it the butler? Perhaps she was just free for the moment and meeting neighbors. Perhaps she didnt even know it was him that lived just across the lake.

The clock. The ticking. Gatsby couldnt help but smile staring at it mockingly.

Of course you can...Of course you can.

That time he once desired so deeply to repeat he would now finally get the chance. He knew all that lost time would have is chance to be made up once and forever. Finally he was ready. He looked once more into the mirror and smiled that infamous Gatsby smile. It held that mysterious gaze as if there was so much unknown about him. That gaze that made others fill as though they were inadequate for whatever reason. It was that gaze that made you feel that in this moment you were the focus of his entire world. The Gatsby gaze.

Ill be down in just a moment old sport.

Writing once more in his journal he decided to write an entry that would hold such a broken spot in him forever. He would regret these words and fill the pain of hope for the very first time.

"Finally."

Jay hurried down the staircase and turned the corner. His eyes fell on a woman no doubt but a woman who was not the love of his life. It was not as he would put it, his soul mate. Gatsby looked disorientated. This is what happens when hopes mix with reality. A leader of one of the newer crime syndicates she was not a woman to be forgotten.

Lily.

That was her favorite flower.

Of what do i owe the wonderful pleasure my friend?

Gatsby took her by the hand and escorted her into the library. Both sets of hands filled the room as well with the bodyguards. Gatsby was not nervous nor was he let down that it was Lily more so that he allowed himself to be swept up in a thought that rang in his heart. He was so filled with the idea of Daisy he did not allow himself to be present to the possibility that it was someone else.

Turning to his Right hand dredgen_Yor

Would you mind pouring us some tea old sport?

After he sat and waited for Lily to speak.

Lily had been exchanging letters with Jay for the last little while. It all started with a troubled soul that just couldn't seem to find his way in this world. The two had quickly become friends, there was just some kind of connection they had. Like a long lost brother kind of a thing. She wasn't planning a surprise visit, work just happened to lead her to New York and she just figured this would be the perfect time to drop in. Plus she really needed something to do, to much work is never fun. She was in the need of some kind of excitement.

It didn't take her that long to find Jay's place, in fact she didn't do any searching at all. The joys of having people to do that for you, saves time for her to do other things. She was ushered right up to the front door. Though she did make sure to leave her guards outside, having them around was nice at times but they were always there. The personal space was quite limited, it was nice to have breaks when it was possible.

Lily proceeded up the sidewalk, which was quite a lengthy one. Felt like she had to walk forever just to get to the front door and it was a bit brisk out then again it was winter what did she expect. She knocked on the door which was quickly answered by Jay's butler, the two talked for a bit. Her hands were starting to get cold before she was finally let in.

She stood in the hallway patiently waiting for Jay, it was ok though it gave her time to glance around his place. Which was quite stunning, almost museum like. She had the urge to touch things especially shinny and breakable things, she did all she could to resist but the longer she had to wait the more the urge she needed to touch something. The butler kept a conversation with her as she proceeded to walk towards a very fancy vase, she was just about to reach out to touch it when she heard a voice call her name.

"Lily"

She quickly turned around to see Jay standing there, there was a slight look of disappointment on his face. As if he were expecting or hoping that it would be someone else. She quickly shot him a smile.

"Didn't mean to drop in unannounced but I was in the area and figured I would stop by. If this is a bad time I will come back later."

Jay shook his head and lead her to the library. As they got into the room Lily's eyes opened up wide, she was amazed by the amount of books. She had been in libraries before but nothing like this. It was one of those places that if you were looking for something specific to read and you couldn't find it there it didn't exist.

"There are a lot of books in here, wow...."

Jay chuckled and nodded, they walked further into the library and came upon a couple of chairs. One of which was already occupied by one of Jay's most trusted me. She politely introduced herself and pulled up a seat and Jay directed him to gather some tea.

"This is quite a nice place you have here, very impressive if I must say so."

Jay thanked her and handed her the cup of tea that dredgen had just brought over. Lily took a small sip and placed it down on the table in front of her.

"So you may be wondering why I randomly just decided to pop my face in. Yes I wanted to come and see you but I also know this is your home town. As you can obviously see business has brought me here and I will be in the area for a couple days. Now that being said the business is quite easy, I really don't even need to be here for it just need to show my face once or twice."

She reached forward picking up her tea and took another sip before placing it back down.

"Basically, I need something to do. I need to get my hands dirty, perhaps get into a little bit of trouble. Was kind of hoping you had something going on or know of something that we can plan. I actually have a new associate of mine with me, left him in the car while we talked. Would like to have him gain some experience. That is of course you are interested?"

Gatsby noticed Lily was still trying to warm her hands from the chill that was outside. He was quite flustered as to why she would have to wait in the cold. Something that no woman should experince. He couldnt but think if it was Daisy in the winter storm if she would ran off back to the security of her vehicle. Then in moments drive off to never be seen again.

Winston. I dont want anyone to ever sit outside again when its this cold outside. If they have to wait in the lobby or in a room that is fine. Never again, do you understand me? Good. Now go.

His eyes scanned the room. He himself loved books but no where as much as he thought Daisy would. Every page, every word written in them was dedicated to her. He knew that if she was here she would never find herself bored or with nothing to do. It appeared as though Lily too enjoyed literature from time to time. Perhaps with how eloquent she actually was she did frequent reading.

She brought up a young man who had shown her promise and earned a spot in her crew. A man looking to better himself and better his crew.

I wish first and foremost to, if you are comfortable with it, If i could share with you the plan that Wolfensheim is putting together. It is not your average or sub par plan even. Now im not really to involved myself as really i am the decoy.

He pulled a pen and began drawing on the back of a note he had previously written to himself. He drew out a square and a few lines.

This is one of the most prestigious banks in New Jersey. Everyone from the president to local citizens have money in here. Wolfesnsheim plans to hit it. He needed me to go in dressed as a new customer. Fancy clothes, no affiliations with organized crime, and a smile that would put him at ease, the manager that is. While i am in there, alone with him, he would give me a tour. At the moment i am actually in the vault the plan is to strike and send in several men to rob the bank.

Gatsby continues to draw lines illustrating the streets and the escape routes.

There are moments where the cops would do random check ins to make sure everything is going well. As soon i am actually in the bank there will be road blocks placed on both sides of the street. The exit will be down from the hill and a few cars will be waiting for the robbers. I will stay in the bank to help disorientate the witnesses and say the opposite of what they saw.

Sitting back Gatsby adjusts his tie and glances at Dredgen who was flipping through one of his favorite novels.

This is all i have been made aware of from Wolfensheim. Now Lily, you and i could go in together. We could then pretend as though we are business partners looking to mutually invest our money after stumbling upon a large lump some. There should not be a single death or wound given as far as i understand. Is this something you find your member to be willing to take part in?

Lily listens intently as Jay went over his part in an upcoming plan. By the sounds of it there was a bit of deception involved and of course guns and money. It was some of Lily's favorite things all mixed into one, how could she not get excited about that type of plan. She did try to restrain her excitement though, as she kept a straight face throughout the entire description. Even though with every word out of his mouth her excitement level rose.

She nodded her head at him every time he looked back at her, she made it look like she was contemplating everything. Really though she knew already this was something she wanted to get involved in. She listened and listened some more until Jay was finally done speaking. Lily sat back down in her chair and made it seem like she was thinking somethings through. She leaned forward and began speaking.

"You know, this might be just the perfect thing to get involved with. More or less keep ourselves clean and out of harms way but still play an important part. I would love to get go in there with you as your partner. That is if you will have me?"

Lily sat back down in her chair as the thoughts were going through her head.

"Oh yeah about my gun, he won't do anything to jeopardize this. I have confidence in him, this is why I brought him along with me. If you would like I can have someone go fetch him so you can have the pleasure of meeting him."

With a slight Nod Gatsby affirmed the idea of Lily grabbing Dubliner.

Well yes i think it would be most exciting to meet the guy that i have heard so many promising things about.

As Lily ran out the door to retrieve her member Gatsby had to finish a line in his journal addressing the most portent person he knew, Daisy.

Dubliner was walking around the main room of Gatsby's elegant mansion. His home was quite a representation of a Hotel de Ville in Normandy. As they were entering the driveway of the mansion, Dubliner even noticed the Rolls Royce that had gained quite the reputation around the city of escorting several high profile guests to and from Mr. Gatsby's lavish parties. Dubliner also noticed a quaint little cottage that stood not far from Gatsby's mansion and immediately felt sympathy for the homeowner who had to endure many nights of loud music, obnoxious guests, and surely a lack of privacy... Rumors of Gatsby's great parties were aplenty; men and women would come and go like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.

It was a mansion of the highest regard. Those who had no money dreamt of merely entering through the threshold of the double doors at the front, while those WITH money longed to own it. Worth millions of dollars, Gatsby's home was a fabulous Gothic-style manse. Adorned by architects from all over the world. All of this to impress a woman, said the rumors.

"Surely not," Dubliner thought to himself, "Surely one would not go to such lengths to impress one broad. Surely such love doesn't exist in mere mortals."

He looked all around him. Enamored by the crystal decorated, golden chandelier that hung above him. Candle stands stood all around the room, unlit and seemingly unburned--never once used. Bouquets of Daisies were aligned on either side of the room leading towards a spiral stairway that led up towards where Lily had gone to meet Mr. Gatsby.

"You ready?" Lily called from atop the stairway.

Dubliner looked around startled as Lily's voice echoed through the room bouncing back and drumming on Dubliner's eardrum over and over again.

"As ready as ever!" Dubliner called back as he began to walk up the stairs, "So what's this all about?" Dubliner asked Lily as he reached the top of the stairway.
