Weapon of Choice Started by: Dr_RickMarshall on Jan 30, '16 16:35

DrRickMarshall doesn't just go out into the Streets with any weapon, he chooses something that's going to fit him . Now a weapon good for him may not be the same for the next person, for him it boils down to three simple factors.

(1) Reliability - Is the weapon going to function properly on a daily basis.

(2) Firepower -does it have that have that extra kick.

(3) Your relationship with the weapon - Are you familiar with your weapon of choice.

Now for Dr.RickMarshall, being a man of adventure and expedition it takes him to some remote places where the beasts range in size from small swarms of spiders to large dinosaurs. Dr.RickMarshall use's a .357 magnum, being a Revolver it won't malfunction if properly maintained. It definitely has the fire power with the stopping power of the hollow point magnum round it can take down large bears. Dr.RickMarshall has been using The Revolver since the beginning, he knows his maximum range he can shoot and the way the weapon kicks. Once he got that down he could hit anything in range, so the TylerDurdens' crew were just turkey shoots for Dr.RickMarshall and his trusty Revolver.

[The Revolver is Dr.RickMarshalls' weapon of choice and that coupled with possible explosive objects there is no job he can't handle]

BretTheHitmanHart heard Dr_RickMarshall speaking about his weapon choice. Like the Doctor, Bret had made a similar speech regarding finishing moves. Bret has move into hand and hand combat and strives to use it daily. He wasn't too fond of guns as guns made things easier for people. He enjoyed the good ole beat down and wrestling was his thing.

"Good Doctor... I must admit my weapon of choice are my two hands. My two hands don't need to be maintained with grease like a gun. They don't need required ammunition. Nor do they require a safety. Even though sometimes, they should have one on."

Bret lets go of a corny chuckle as he continues to speak about his hands.

"Even with the TylerDurden, you'll find me placing his members in holds and breaking them. My sleeper hold is actually my second favorite move after the Sharpshooter. I am eager to hear about other people's weapon of choice though. It is really intriguing."

What’s my weapon of choice Doc?  Hmm......I'll have to go somewhat with Bret on that one. Up close and personal! Like Bret, I think hand to hand combat is great!  Although choking a man out is much fun, nothing makes me smile with glee more than carving someone up with the humble knife.  A dime a dozen, these things doesn’t need reloading,  they don’t jam, miss fire or need much maintaining and I think it a knife attack leaves a much more personal statement than other weapons.

If somebody commits a murder or assault, either by choking, stabbing or making bodily contact, it always speaks to a level of rage and perhaps a personal connection to the victim that shooting with a gun does not.

When you are stabbing someone, it's close and in your face. The experience is more visceral and more graphic, more provocative. It speaks emotionality, whether rage or paranoia.

Handy wee things too, very versatile, useful for a multitude of tasks.  From sliding silently between a person's ribs to the fine slicing of an onion for the evenings chilli dinner, to the removal of an eyeball during those boring, but sometimes necessary interrogations, the knife ROCKS!

I've a collection...

.....in my memory box...

Listening to the good doctor, Al had only one simple thought...

The best weapon any of us have, is the mind. When to attack, when to stand down.   How to set up a situation that can be controlled or the ability to recognize a bad situation that puts you at risk of losing more than you could ever gain. The ability to see the dominos fall before pushing the first one makes for a weapon that is far more effective than any tool.

"Like Big_Al explained. The only greater tool than a gun is your brain, use it correctly and it will be nothing but success in the long run, but to be said there are many obstacles and blockades that prevent you from reaching success, overcome them and you will nothing but a valued individual."

[As Dr.RickMarshall strikes matches and puffs on his pipe he listens intently, to the very good points that are brought up]

"Ahh yes, a tool fit for any Adventure"

[Absorbing any information he nods his head in agreement an waits to hear from anyone else who wishes to share...]

BlackAtom overheard a conversation that took place and later commented to Dr_RickMarshall.

"My weapon of choice would be a 'saw'd off shotgun'. The spray is ridiculous. I can hit like six bodyguards with one squeeze of the trigger! Not to mention my ability to properly smuggle the thing into pretty much any type of event," he rubs his hands together,"Cloak and shotgun working on the Detroit Durden hunt."

BlackAtom opens his overcoat just enough so that the wood grain shotgun handle was shown and closes it back, giving a slight grin.

Yes the mind is the best weapon of choice, awarness is also key but as for hardware I'll have to go with the sweet Thompson Sub Machine gun as my weapon of choice.  It  is compact enough to not get tangled up when chasing someone through washing lines full of clothes but accurate enough to hit targets some distance away. It spits out multiple rounds of ammunition in quick succession and is simple enough that a monkey could clean it and disassemble it without losing the important parts. It has realitively little recoil but project enough lead to kill the enemy with the .45, handy too cos my Colt 1911 takes the same round.  Take the stock off, trim the barrel a shade and throw a drum mag on and you've a room clearer for sure.

[Dr.RickMarshall continues to puff his pipe while BlackAtom intrigues him with the reveal of his weapon of choice]

"Devastating effects at close range..No doubt, much like the mussel loader boom stick of old"

[Dr.RickMarshall puffs his pipe and ponders on how far the technology of weapons has evolved, from mussel loader flint locks to a compact cartridge that holds the gun powder, primer, and projectile]

"Imagine what we'll think of next...", Dr.RickMarshall says aloud after snapping out of his daydream

[After coming out of his daydream, Dr.RickMarsahall empties his pipe by turning in over and tapping it against his hand. He then starts to pack another, as he does he listens to JohnDoe...]

"Mmmm The Thompson..", Dr.RickMarshall says as he strikes a match an puffs.

"A handy piece of hardware indeed, JohnDoe" Dr.RickMarshall agrees

[Dr.RickMarshall has a flash of the getaway, he and BlackAtom executed in the Streets. Dr.RickMarshall thinks of when the high speed chase came to a climax as he maneuvers the car and BlackAtom unloaded the Thompson into the car chasing us]

[Dr.RickMarshall nods in agreement, then pockets the pipe after outing it. He then pulls a Strawberry Cough filled blunt from his ear and proceeds to striking a match an sparking it up]

"Ahem?!?  Are you going to want to smoke that all Dr.RickMarshall?  It's just I'd be partial to a bit of Strawberry Cough and don't seem to have any..." JohnDoe says with a cheeky wink.

Report Post Tip

"By all means, be my guest"

[Dr.RickMarshall hits it twice more, then blows the ashes off the cherry before passing the blunt to JohnDoe...]

"Cool!" John says with a smile as he gently takes the beautifuly rolled blunt off Dr.RickMarshal and spends a moment admiring it.  He skillfully traps it between his little pinky and his wedding finger and then cups his hands tightly together forming a makeshift pipe.

John exhales deeply. John eagerly puts his lips to his cupped hands and inhales deeply for a good five seconds, through a tiny hole he has made with his thumbs.  He holds his breath for another five seconds which blows John's cheeks out with the effort.

Dr.RickMarshal notices that John's eyes are already starting to glaze.  With a steady controlled exhale John breaths out and then says in a panic, "Shit sorry man!", and he quickly offers whats left of the blunt back to Dr.RickMarshal.
