He rolled the name around his mouth like a fine wine, trying to decide whether he liked it or not. "Brutus" he eventually snarled. He detested the name that had been bestowed upon him, he detested everything it stood for. A real semantical field of shit he always thought to himself, and that was before he even began to think about the connotations a name like Brutus implied. It wasn't the first time time he'd had this mental fight with himself, and it wouldn't be the last.

He sighed and picked up the receiver, and span the rotary round, almost dropping the cigar stub wedged between his fore and middle finger.

"Hey Sal, it's Brutus. Yeah, the very same. You got time for a coffee. Great, I'll see you there.

He placed the receiver back with a click, and his mouth curved upwards into the beginnings of a smile. For all he hated it, the name Brutus often worked in his advantage, it wasn't an easy name to forget.

He heaved himself to his feet and began rummaging around for his gloves, it was a cold New York morning and he didn't want to arrive after Sal.

*Olivero is ambling down the street on his way to a meeting. He should have been there 10 minutes ago, but has decided to procrastinate to make the other guys sweat. He overhears the man on the telephone.*

"Brutus, eh? That can't be an easy name to carry around. I suppose it could be worse: at least you're not called Judas!"

On hanging up the receiver, Sal glanced down at his aging hands. Despite the wear and tear of his long life, the splendor of his wedding band still shined in the ambient light. He missed his wife. Tragedy was a part of life, indeed but to suffer lose of his wife and unborn son... this plagued the man, this eroded his core... his essence. The charismatic and energic business man was leveled by these events. His sins and his investment... he did this all for her and for him.

What is left? These thoughts echoed in his mind.

Coffee or a warm bath and my cyanide tea?

I am a man of honor. I must commit. Why burden the man with the discovery of my corpse. I shall live for this day.

With that Salvatore set off to join the man for coffee. The coldness, this did not bother him... it more over relaxed the bitterness that dwelt in his heart.

Salvatore was already in the coffeehouse when he get there, and Brutus cursed himself silently, although he wasn't sure why. He glanced through the window at his old friend, and it soon turned into a stare. It had been a long time, but Father Time had not been kind to Giaquinto. Ol' Father time hadn't been too kind to himself either, thought Brutus.

He walked into the cafe and pulled his gloves off, shaking his shoulders as if to dispel the cold. He made for Sal and slipped into the booth across from him.

Hello my old friend. I heard about...My condolences. I am deeply sorry.

The moment had come, and Brutus had fatally misjudged it. His usual eloquence had ascaped him, and Salvatore frowned sharply at his choice of topic. "Shit, he think's I'm powerplaying him" Brutus thought. He needed to backtrack, but more ill chosen words would only dig him deepr now. A change of subject was needed. He stared into Sal's once lively eyes for a long time before finally averting them and speaking softly, his voice almost lost in the warm coffeehouse

I found him Sal. I finally found him.
