| Sentimental Value | Started by: Foyle on Feb 10, '16 00:06 |

"Look, I've made you a more than reasonable offer for the painting, twice the going rate. You're being unreasonable." Foyle's voice is a growl, as he slams a fist down on the collector's desk. While Foyle only moved to the states a few weeks back, he wasn't the first in his family to have made the trip. With a wife and family to raise, his granddad had ventured out to the land of promise to try and make his fortune. All he found was a dead end line-worker job, and a shitty neighborhood. He spent his free time painting, and while he'd never made much money from the pursuit he'd become popular a little while after his death. "The value just keeps on climbing", the collector replies. "Everyone knows that these works will increase their resale value in the next few years. And besides.. You seem like a guy with cash to spare. I'm pretty sure you can pay even more". The man's calculating, smarmy voice rubs against Foyle's nerves like a cheese-grater, and it is all he can do not to fly off the handle and beat this guy to a bloody mess right here in his office. Instead he takes a deep breath and smooths out the sleeves of his pinstriped jacket. When he looks back to the man across the desk his eyes betray his fury, despite his ice-cold voice. "This isn't about the money any more, sir. I made you a good offer, much more than you'd get from anyone else, and instead of jumping on it you took me for a chump and tried to wring even more cash out of me. Good day, I'll be seeing you again very soon." On his walk out of the office Foyle's eyes are alert, taking in every inch of the layout, and noting every security measure he can spot. A few moments later he's in the back seat of the car he arrived in, directing the driver back to The Cure's HQ. It wouldn't be the easiest take in the world, so he'd have to recruit some help. But some guys just deserved to be stolen from. |

Lily was sitting in her office enjoying a nice glass of Merlot with her number two Lucrezia. It was one of the things that they always did at the end of their "business day". Lily had her feet up on her desk and was sharing a couple laughs with partner in crime. They never talked about business while sipping on their wine but rather random gossip. Lucrezia leaned forward and was about to get into some juicy gossip when suddenly Lily heard the HQ front door slam shut. It wasn't the first time the door had been slammed shut, sometimes in the mob people tend to get a bit irritated over certain situations but normally they calmed down once they got a drink in them and sat down with a colleague to vent a bit. Lily had paused for a moment as the sound echoed through the building, there was a brief moment of silence. Lily shrugged it off and was about to continue talking to Lucrezia but before she could muster out her first word a thud and a yell come from the hallway. A scowled look went upon Lily's face, she placed her glass down on her desk and quickly made her way to her door. "What the hell is going on out here?" Lily yelled out in a bit of anger. She looked to her left towards the front door only to notice Foyle leaning up against face first against the wall. He had his first clenched, he reached back and pounded it against to wall. It wasn't very often or at all for that matter for Foyle to be that upset over something and show his anger out in the open. She knew something was wrong but also knew she couldn't let him keep pounding on the wall. In an angry voice she called his name "Foyle" her voice got a bit muffled with the sound of the pound, at the top of her lungs she yelled "FOYLE." This time it caught his attention, he slowly looked to his right a noticed Lily standing in her doorway glaring at him. He slowly pushed himself off the wall and took a big sigh before fixing his clothes. Lily watched as he primped himself to his standards, when he was done she signaled him into her office. As she walked in she walked straight to her liquor cabinet and pulled out a bottle of scotch and a glass. She opened the top and filled the glass near to the brim just as she turned around with drink in hand Foyle entered her office. "Have a seat." She handed him the glass of scotch she has just poured, walked over to her desk picked up her glass of wine and sat down. She took a big sip before speaking. "So what was that outburst all about? That was very unlike you." |
