Upon hearing this cry of shock and horror, people run over to a sobbing SB and wonder what is going on, crowding around the shuddering wreck on the floor. Sexy leaps up, forcing the gathering crowd to fall back into other mafioso creating something not too dissimilar from the domino effect. Everyone, pay attention! There is a reason I was a wreck on the floor! Oh yes, I may have been suffering from a slight case of hypochondriasis (RonMexicotis is hereditary apparently) but lend me your ears!! Metaphorically of course. There have been far too many Shakespeare quotes on these streets of late, and I apologise for my quote. Now, the reasoning for my said shuddering... I will share this with you in due course.... Or I'll jump straight to the point for the want to keep your attention as it was momentarily steered away as I digressed. As if I would do such a thing... SexyBack suddenly shouts again, shocking the surrounding crowd as it began to disperse to other speeches because of the apparent lack of concentration on a topic. To the point! Who, like me, believes there is more to a Crewleader than the hard exterior often exposed to us? Who here believes there is a soft centre inside the crunchy outside? Is that essential for a CL to have to empathise with the common gangster, goomba or earner? Or is empathy not relevant for a CL to have? Should the CL remain detached from his lower ranks? I have questions, many questions, but I'll leave you to answer these ones before I pass my judgement in another long winded, digression-free contribution... SB steps down, plays with his artistically moulded hair and tries to prevent his tears, as he thinks about a CL that does not have the soft exterior, before smiling when he thinks about his own CL - Minstrel-esque - and whispers... Mmmm, soft middle.... |

Too many Shakespeare quotes? Wow, and here I was thinking that displaying stupidity on one's sleeve was a bad thing. Empathy, as you put it, is an essential quality for any Leader to have, a leader unwilling to communicate with the members that keep him where he is is a person undeserving of their status. |

I'm sorry, but I didn't join the Mafia for my boss to hold my hand and plait my hair. I don't want my boss to be my friend. I don't want my boss to emphathise with me. I don't want my boss to tuck me in and read me fucking bed time stories. I don't know what's going on in these parts nowadays, but sensitive thuggery is not a good look (no matter what Cleric has been telling you). |

A CL needs to know who his lower ranks are for in time they will rise up through the ranks and gain more authority and responsibility. Also if the CL's don't take the time to notice who their lower ranks are how can they securely give out promotions and such. Also a good leader needs to know who follows them, who they can count on for different situations that might arise. |

An interesting point Cahty, but empathy and other such qualities are of paramount importance; much more so than in the old country. (Real life) A Boss who distances themself from their members will find themselves deserted in their hour of need. People are too sensitive these days, much more so than in times gone by, and though I do feel the need to quote a good friend: "Dumbing down for the masses keeps the masses dumb" (In other words, accomodating the majority) However, we have reached a point of adapt and survive. |

| In my opinion empathy is a good thing. If a boss has empathy and communication with his lower members then he will earn their respect and loyalty, rather than just receive feigned respect and loyalty. I agree that a boss is owed these things as a matter of course, but I believe that he's far more likely to get them if he isn't completely cut off. Of course, he's the boss so he can do what he likes, but if he never earns the respect of his lower members, then how many of them will truly support him in times of need even if they should? | |

| It is nice when you know your CL, but we have a chain of command for a reason. A CL trusts his RHM & LHM & SCL's for a reason. It would be real hard for a larger families CL's to get to know everybody under them on a personal or even a non-personal level. That is why the CL trusts these people to get to know the lower ranks and trusts their judgment as they begin to rank. | |

SexyBack leaps back up again and steadies himself on Brutus. Take no offence to my jibe at Shakespeare quotes dear friend, I was merely jesting. Back on topic before I divagate again, I have to admit that I'm sitting on the fence for the time being as I like to have a Crew Leader that talks to me as I progress through the ranks, to make me feel a part of the family, and actually know who I am working for, earning money for, puttin my life on the line for and in some cases training my gun for. However, a structure is there so that the Crew Leader can remain relatively detached from the rest of the family. The members talk to the SCLs, the SCLs talk to their SC Manager and so on, depending on the crew structure. This method means that the CL only empathises with his or her inner circle and the ones they trust. Surely this would mean they empathise to an extent, but just not to the whole family? Then again, the term "family" suggest closeness does it not? And should the CL therefore look after each individual member properly and know them relatively intimately? Or does a member only become "family" once they've reached the coveted rank of Made Man? It's true, I have many many questions!! |

| I would say if your out there really working hard and ranking in your family doing all that is epected of you and you never hear from your CL at all....well then that just would not be a very good CL. Because it is a family. But it is a two way street. If you want to be noticed then you need to make yourself noticed. Most CL's are not going to spend a great deal of time trying to find out how every member is doing that day, though some may. | |

| All I have to say is....I wish McTavish would have tucked me into bed and read me a bed time story when I was part of Badass INC. .....So um....yeah....I think that the crew leaders should be at least known to there Lesser ranks. Since it is a "Family" not a job...so COME TOGETHER! RIGHT NOW! OVER ME! | |
