4:44 AM - The Streets It was a cold and stormy... no wait, fuck that. It was sunny as hell. Wait, there was a lightning storm! Yes, yes. That sounds very fitting for this kind of story. The rain pittered and pattered against the window of the old butcher shop. A small glisten could be seen from the street. If you hadn't noticed the lone light you would think the establishment had been boxed up for years. The closer you get, the more you can hear. A slight murmur at first... But none of this matters because it has nothing to do with the story. Sucks, too. Whatever is going on in there was probably really cool. No, my friends, the real story happens behind the run down building in a spot that not many dare to go. The wonderful world known as the sewers. 4:50 AM - The Sewers "Hello everyone, and welcome to the third annual festival for animals in the mafia. We're a very underrepresented group and I'm afraid that if we don't speak up then in a few decades no one will ever know exactly how normal it is for a creature other than man to be involved in the mafia. Just the other day a boy said he had no idea who Jack 'One Eye' the Russell Terrier was. Can you believe it?! One of the most famed mobsters in the world and people already are starting to forget." One of the cats in the corner lets off a loud pitched meow and walked away. A group of badgers followed. He was losing the crowd and the Owl wasn't sure exactly what to do to keep their attention. The span of an animal was a fickle one at best and they'd always had a flair for the more dramatic. So he did what he had to do and pulled a few sparklers from his pocket, setting them on fire he watched as their attention was won over once more. "I know this is hard stuff to take in - a few miles from here a pack of wolves got taken down who were running drugs for the New York mob. If the same thing happens to the Gazelles then we're well on our way to being a dying breed. We need to work together, right? Well I think Mister Walrus brought up a wonderful idea earlier, and I'd love to have him reiterate it for us now." Mister Owl looked over to a small pudgy man wearing a birthday hat and frilled up his back feathers. After a few minutes of staring, he gave off a small hoot and nodded as if to agree with everything the man had apparently just said. "Yes! Exactly. We need to start being more aggressive! I want a lion on every street corner, a baboon in every speakeasy, and an elephant collecting money from all of the local establishments. We need to let those damn humans know we're just as good at this as they are, if not better." Fixing up his suit he flew around the room looking at all of the creatures standing around. It was a much better turn out than he could have ever imagined, and they were clearly excited about what he had to say. Being an Owl, he was one of the wisest and everyone had always went to him for advice. Then it happened. 5:03 AM - The Sting Sirens filled up the streets above them and the animals began to scatter in every which way. It was mayhem. They must have been tipped off from the rats - they were the only fuckers who refused to join up with the rest of the coalition. He had to get out of there, if he went to prison this would be the end for the animals in the Mafia. Fuck. "Everyone get out! Down the tunnels! Just like we planned." Obviously plans go smoother when they're tests rather than the real thing, because no one listened. He was going to get caught and needed help fast. But from where? 7:02 PM - Meanwhile in another part of town It was a group of three or four men (my eyesight isn't what it used to be) all sitting around a table drinking a few beers and eating some unpronounceable deli meats. They looked dapper as hell and and they were discussing something... my ears aren't that great either. I'll let you try figuring out what the fuck they're talking about. "Boss, what are we gonna do about that Owl?" "That crazy bastard? Don't worry. I've already taken care of him earlier today. He won't be a problem anymores." They all laughed or something. What do you want? I'm not here to explain everything. Get off my balls. Anyways, yada yada yada they all thought the Owl was dead, but you know what? I'll let someone else tell the story about how fucking wrong they were cause I've already been here forever. I'm sure its going to be good though. |
