Money spending Started by: The-Reaper on Jan 12, '10 19:54

okay i just thought this up so it wont be very detailed but i think we should have more stuff to buy because other thank the credit market and drugs, dfps, and casinos there is nothing to spend real money on (real as in large sums) and all these do is give you more money to spend on nothing i mean there really is no point in making money with no non-profit buys, credits are the only for jail busts training and bailing outa jail i mean if you could buy homes that show up on your profile or something that can make the the game a little less...i guess pointless i mean don't get me wrong i like MR but in a while it'll get boring and the game will just drop, this might also help keep players in, some people just create an account and once they see what it has to offer they leave because there is nothing more than money making.

Report Post Tip

Most of the money earned should be going to your leader for the most part at which point they either use it to provide further protection to themselves or the next person inline requiring more protection.

Money=Bodyguards and they dont come cheap.

Report Post Tip

I realize that money should indeed be donated. and protection is really needed but other than that it become repeditive and once you have all the protection and your donateing large sums regulary it becomes mundane and starting an heir account just postpones the boredom that repeting brings.

Report Post Tip

once you have all the protection

There's no such thing. At least at the moment there's not. Even if/when a bodyguard cap is/might be introduced (and assuming someone even reaches that cap), they will have rhm/lhm/important members to protect. No family ever has or ever will reach a situation where they have all important members at a high enough level of protection.

If the game was to give me $1 billion right now, I could easily have it spent in minutes and be in need of more! :D (all donations welcome btw!)

As for needing more to buy... if it's simply to add 'fluff' for the sake of it, I'm not for the idea. If there are realistic reasons (in terms of stats/gameplay) why any/some of these additional purchases are positive, sure... throw them out there.

Sorry Ms.Deimne i meant that once you have all the protection  you realisticly need i mean i have no important place in the crew and in some truth im glad of that because my schedual doesn't always account for allowing me on here daily or even weekly i could be at a friends or even out of the country. but as for the fluff i didn't mean to add it where it would have no real effect on your game play it could add some type of improvement on how  Tips or crime works like a nice car would allow bank getaways easier because no one suspects a limo or something. or a house could cut on the DFP upgrades cost and as far as how someone like you or another city godfather/mother would have need for insene quantities of money yes that is a given at that post for buying so many guards a perinoid man would say that is too much, or loans, constant moving by private flight. etc.  and once again sorry for my Typo didn't mean to put that.

Report Post Tip

Ms? Hmmm, and I didn't even shave today.

The point is, you work for a leader. You kick up tributes (or you should be!) to that leader for the protection they give you, which allows them to buy protection for them and their (hence your) family.

That leader NEEDS cash. Lots of it. There is nobody with "all the protection they realistically need". Not one person. As given a war, they (they being everyone including me) will lose some of the protection they currently have... be it specifically bodyguards or even the family/members around them.

A paranoid man would say I haven't got a fraction of enough bodyguards to keep me safe... and guess what, I am a paranoid man ;)

Possibly I'm in the minority, but I feel that adding in new 'items' which have little/no impact on gameplay as being negative to the game. Sure, it 'adds something', but it makes the game more complicated without benefiting the gameplay. I see no/little benefit and see negatives, in terms of the impact on the game and the requirements to code them into the game.

Report Post Tip

oops sorry bout the Ms. part got the name confused, similar. and as i can see you do have a point, and can see there is nothing i can to to convince you otherwise, so i won't try to. and as far as the record goes...I'm a paranoid man too ;)

Both make valid points.   I had a couple suggestions up a while back that serve your idea, and supports Deimnes point of a necessity behind this: Godfather SafeHaven & Godfather Airfield.

I tried to think up other things for lower ranked players to spend money on, the concept behind these was a money sink, but everything I came up with I chalked off as 'fluff'.   The expectation of increasing family strength outweighs most anything you can come up with.  Also, you don't want to put forth ideas from other games, as then your just mocking other games.  Pets, cars, houses... these are all things you can do elsewhere.  The key is to find an original concept for a money sink, and one that causes either an advantage for the spender side or a disadvantage for the spender to assign.

Report Post Tip

hmm, that is vary helpful Mike thank you.

and i did think those ideas were fairly resonable ideas for high rankers. and yes i do know that homes and pets etc are in other games and i didn't mean that we should turn this game into something like the mafia underground or other games like that I couldn't think off the top of my head real things that would be availible in this time. but when i did give an example those were the only ones i could think of and i put them. but im not saying that this has to follow a consept of luxury things it could be something as mundane in real life like well okay i just drew a blank but you understand the point.

Report Post Tip

What a waste of time... next you'll suggest we spend money on other things like Michael Jackson gloves, or speedboats or Shagpile carpets? who cares about such things, there is always enough to spend money on. I'm a capo and I'm spending money faster than I can earn it, and you wanna bring in more shit to spend it on?

I have an idea, if you have too much money, give it to your CL, or better yet, help a charity and give it to me to help save endangered species.

Report Post Tip

Has there ever been a mafia billionaire?

Report Post Tip

I very much doubt it and I certainly hope not.

Money doesn't keep you alive, so building up such a large stash is totally counter productive. As mentioned, no family/city EVER has had enough protection (there's no such thing!). So someone not using that money productively and investing it into themselves and their guys would be idiotic, at best.

Report Post Tip

Very True Deimne sir,

As pertains to Mafia Returns, in most games if you find yourself overflowing with money your obviously and don't know what to do with it you aren't doing something correct. The idea of money and profit are there for a reason, and to go with that the stuff that you need to be successful are not cheap. i.e. BG's and money spent to build up a family. (Bodyguards are extremely expensive now days). Also families are structures that are built from the ground up so it takes a lot of money to get and keep things in order.

To ask for so more options to spend money Reaper is a great suggestion, nevertheless the is a lot of things money is needed for currently.

Report Post Tip

I think owning homes, or perhaps properties of some sort...if there was some reason why it could be used...could be a good idea. If owning properties maybe let you get more drugs from your DFP...then maybe you could have some sort of system that would let higher ranks own and rent out properties.
