Hello

I've been tinkering for hours with virtual dub, gimp and the like forever to get a decent animation under 10Mb. Many other profile picture people will agree with me, it's quite a restriction. Not that it's only 10Mb, but that it is so in gif format. A WebM can be compressed much more than a gif can. You can pump out more pixels per Mb and in higher quality for a lesser size.

Here's a further explanation by the imgur (image-sharing social network) staff https://blog.imgur.com/2014/10/09/introducing-gifv/

Perhaps we could even embed directly from imgur, saving some bandwith, if their eula complies (I think it could work since it's used to share picture on reddit).

looking forward to hear back from you
