I often peruse the Forums -whether it be out of boredom or to provide accuracy to a bloodlines words etc, and often times I find it hard to sift through the many forum posts using the number selector. So I was wondering if the threads could be posted in accordance to the year published in maybe a drop down menu at the top. The select page would still be available just add a year menu as well, and in order. Let me try to explain a little more or to maybe create a diagram.
2016
2015
2014
And so and so forth. The Months would be hidden until you clicked on the year, and then the drop down menu would appear. This could be a task that you could give the "street sweeper" if you would like. Also, I am too lazy, but I was thinking to add to the overall ease of access -the years are horizontal rather diagonal, but that is just me, but diagonally might just be easier on the eyes, and probably wouldn't be as cluttered. |

So if we did a "Historic View", are you talking broken by date the thread was created, or the date the last time a thread was active? |

I've always been able to find the things I was looking for pretty easily by using the "search" option. |

PeterPerttits, I take it you've never typed in a general title before? Or forgotten a title? |

Squishy -Hmm, if we did it by the date that the thread was last active that could get a bit complicated. Someone could comment on a thread that was made back in 2012, and it would be marked under this year.
I was thinking along the lines of broken down by the date that thread was created -it seems the easier of the two. |

Being honest, Aislin, I tend to just search for my previous characters to see how much better I used to be at this as shameful as that is. I'm not sure searching by year would help all that much, but would the search option returning all threads that character posted in too be more helpful? Perhaps a check box for what you're looking for akin to the character search... |

@ PeterPerttits There isn't anything shameful about that. Everyone likes to see their progress :) Although, that would be a nice addition to the search feature that is not what my idea is about. My idea is simply to categorize threads by year of publication -to be able to search faster. |

Personally, I don't get why people would want to post in threads that have not been used in god knows how long. Like with player searches can you not simply create an archive area for threads also? So threads that have not been active within 3 months are deemed inactive and archived? But once those archived threads are posted in, they then become active again and moved back to their original place? I think 3 months is reasonable no? https://gyazo.com/77adf5e34d4b0c7eeaf40e22031e3d7e So right under the search bar, you could have a link that directs you to the archive area for threads? Just a thought. |

My apologies Esau for taking so long to get back to you. A thread only dies if the OP allows it to, and what if I wanted to bring back a thread from years ago, what makes that thread not as important as today's? It hurts my RP heart to hear you say that. You're telling me someone's words no longer holds any weight after they die? They are no longer important? People post in those forums to bring life back into a post, they post for the sheer pleasure of doing so, or maybe they simply liked the thread. It makes no since to create another thread when there is a perfectly acceptable thread already posted. I am honestly not a fan of the archived threads. |
