I must say, this is a very good question. I for one am a Made Man and also LHM. Although i think the position of LHM is a important one, i would treat the ones that are higher ranked than i, with great respect. I am quite aware of this situation, and i am in a delicate position. But higher rank or not, as LHM... i am in title of a certain amount of respect. Because who is in charge when the CL and RHM arent around. Me... when they arent there i am the one to solve issues that need to be treated immediately. LHM is a position of power, but this must not overcome the respect the higher ranks deserve. The family structure hierarchy is important, but also the ranks. So, one of my priority's is to treat the higher ranks with great respect at all times. But i must say, it is a very delicate position. We get the ranks from doing our daily drug deals and other achievements, but we gain a position by showing the high ranks we have leadership skills. This last is'nt for everyone, but ranking is... most of us have no problem with ranking.

I give more respect to rank hands down. Positions can be given to thugs....which (to me) makes them devalued. You have to put in time to rank...you may not have to meet all the requirements everyone else would to be promoted (Cant say I agree with that either) but you still have to work.

both until they show that they do not desert to be respect . because to get respect u most give respect after that u most earn it   . u will earn 2 keep it or to lose it. b cuz u can not give respect to some one who did not earn it or dessert it.

I think in this world of ours we have come to show respect for the position.  Perhaps not even the position within a crew but the position in the society.  This position in society is typically passed down in a lineage.  A son will take the place of the father upon the father's death and will likely continue in the father's shoes before they became cement. 

Furthermore, the second function of respect is rank.  Upon promotions to the higher ranks of Capo, Boss, etc. it becomes another aspect that gives respect.  First and foremost, however, is the family line that people will look at when choosing to give or refrain from giving their respect.

Like father like son I suppose and so to give the son the same respect of the father may be a reasonable position to take.
