Will was scribbling at his desk. Charlie, Brigid Ewiv and Johnny were all standing nearby, waiting for instruction. He'd called 'em all in so they could assist in this endeavor. Aside from being his band for the occasion, he'd asked them to work on some additional lyrics. "Okay, look. You know how hard Via has worked for us. She deserves some pubilc acknowledgement. Now, what do you got so far?" He looked over the sheets they handed over, took a couple, tossed a couple aside, and then stopped. "This is the one! Wait! This is the one I wrote." Will scirbbled a few more notes, got up from his desk and began walking; his band followed. He headed out of his office, down the elevator, which stopped on the second floor. He got out, looked at his watch and began to quicken his pace. "Shit, she should be coming soon." He knew her schedule like it was his own. He rushed down the stairs and out the front door, to the stage that had been set up for the occasion. He grabbed the microphone, set up his sheet, and nodded to his band. He looked down the street and just as he spotted Via make the turn and head in their direction, he raised his right hand and waved it quickly, the signal for the band to begin playing...Nothing. He did it again. And again...nothing. He turned and glared at them. And then he raised his right hand a third time and waved it yet again, and finally they began to play. And Will stepped up to the mic.
Ah Via! The most compelling sound I've ever sighed Fierce Via,Kind Via, Diligent, Luminous, Idealist, Just Via!
Ah Via! My Right Hand is a girl named Via And suddenly I see How perfect family can be!
Ah Via! Show her respect and she'll protect you-- Disrespect and she'll send me to get you-- Miss Via-- I'll never stop loving life with Miss Via! The most magnificent sound I have ever heard-- Via!
Ah Via! I will rise a million timse for you, Via And I'll do it a million times again, Via For you For you
Ah Via! I promise we'll take the Rock to it's feet And move hills, and take it to its feet! For you For you
Ah Via! May be clumsy and fall down a lot She's still the best partner and we'll plot our path together!
Ah Via! Fierce Via! Miss Via! Just Via!
...and with another wave of his arm, the band stopped playing and the song was done. He took a deep breath, stepped down from the stage and nodded to the band. "Good job guys." "Thank you Via. For everything you do. I don't embarass myself for everyone, but you're definitely worth it. You are definitely the workhorse of this family. I appreciate everything you do. And couldn't do it without you. You are Black Rock." Will waved to the crowd. Some cheering, some laughing, and made his way, quickly, back into his HQ. His face crimson, he decided hiding was his best course of action.
(Disclaimer - Will would like to think future authors of such musicals as West Side Story and Epic, who may write songs that contain lyrics similar to those you see above. To them, I say thank you and you're welcome. You may use my lyrics.) |

For the third time that day, Via'd stepped off a curb and stumbled, miscalculating the drop from the sidewalk to the asphalt. Why did it seem that every bloody corner in Detroit was a different height? Will said it was just her imagination and there was that one time she'd left headquarters and walked all over Downtown in two different heels, but that was beside the point. He'd sent her out for bagels that evening and she hurried out to get them. Now, as she was cursing the curb height she thought more about it. Who the hell sent out for bagels... in Detroit? At night? On a f***ing Sunday? It didn't make sense, and when she turned the corner to see him waving his arm like a madman, it made even less sense, until the band started playing They weren't bad. Ewiv actually played a mean jazz flute. Like, really good. Like he'd been handling a flute all his life. And then Will started to sing (or at least what he considered singing) and she heard her name. She smiled, she laughed, she blushed. She growled a little at the clumsy remark, but checked to make sure she was at least wearing matching heels before returning her attention to the song wrapping up. Via was definitely among those cheering, and dropped a bag of bagels. She scooped them up and hoped no one saw. She heard his dedication and her own cheeks turned crimson as he turned to leave the stage. Bagels in arms, she jogged after, careful to jump onto the curb and for once in her life, stuck the landing with passable grace. "Will! Will! That was beautiful!" she called out, trying to catch him before he disappeared into the black granite building. "I loved it, and I will always be there so we can plot together, rise together, watch some nutsos die together." The grin spread just like the crimson on her cheeks, as she caught him and grabbed his arm. "Thank you. I love Black Rock just about as much as I love ... well, sports! And you know how much I love sports." She sighed. "And this job? You make it easy. I'm happy to be the family workhorse--" The smile dampened and the realization set in. "Workhorse?!" Will's eyes gleamed and he set off toward the stairs at a run she could not match in her heels. "Did you just call me a f***ing horse?!" |

Her Gibson electric bass strapped to her back hung loosely across her back. Strung with a black guitar strap that had roses and skulls embossed into it. She adored skulls and roses to her they represented the spiral of life an death. She shakes her head and mutters something about perfectionists as Will found his own song he wrote. She knew he would choose his own work. It was for Via after all, and should be from him. They were just back up. She followed him with the rest as they made their way to the stage. She looked perplexed at the others as he signaled them not twice but three times. What were they nervous? They had no reason to be she thought, or maybe they did . She began strumming the melody on her burgundy colored bass as he started singing. The musicians were in sync now as he sang his ode to Via.
She over heard Via say something about a workhorse as Will walked off to the HQ. Smiling and shaking her head she slung her bass back over her shoulder and walked through the alleys back to her flat she shared with Virgo. |

Americas Best is running a special right now. In the meanwhile, I will give you a slight boost at no cost.
Heads up though, being stealthy is something you cannot work on. |
