Cathy stands in the Winter morning cold and feels herself shiver slightly. She pulls her trenchcoat around her and folds her arms, she has a few hours before her flight out to Vegas is due, and has some time to kill. She blows into her hands and squeezes them together to get the blood working. She spots one of the House's bag boys and waves him away, signalling that she'll meet him for the collection shortly.

Turning her attention back to some people who are eyeballing her, she begins to speak.

"We see a lot of people fresh off the boat everyday. People who come into the Life wide-eyed, innocent almost. An innocence that is quickly destroyed once they begin to learn of our ways. We talk so much about trying to keep these people safe, train them, accept them into the fold of many who have been in this thing of ours for years.

"But I want to talk today about deciding that the Life isn't for you any more. Has there ever been a moment that you've thought to yourself, I don't want to follow in the footsteps of my parents and relations before them? Have you ever decided that you you'd just had enough of the stress and the danger - too many eyes that have stopped seeing and cold faces?

"Obviously no one who ever managed to get all the way out would be able to reply now - perhaps they're the lucky ones. But I would like to hear from those who honestly considered leaving, but something made them stay, an inexplicable allure. Was there ever a moment you thought you were out for good, but just couldn't stay away?

"For my family, it wasn't that long ago that we'd decided enough was enough - too much death and sorrow. My sister had arranged it for us to travel South, out of the grim streets that I now know so well. I was barely out of my teens then, and trusted her implicitly. We even had the tickets for the train, but the night before we were due to leave she got a call. A voice on the other end of the phone that had pleaded with her to stay, she was needed. The tickets were pawned off the next morning and we found ourselves set up in a small apartment in the heart of New York.

"I often wonder whether she'd made the right decision then, what it would've been like if she'd never had that call. But most of all I ask myself, was she addicted to the Life and what was the allure that couldn't let her leave?"

Rogue walks threw the streets look for old ladies to pinch from.. He spots one and runs up to her, the old ladie turns around.. Rogue looks at her and realises that the old ladie about to hit him, is infact Cathy_Parks.

Now, I agree with what your saying here Cathy.. Lots of new people come to these streets, some of them learn quickly where as the others aren't so fortunate.. Some, if not most aren't given the chance that they deserve.. this "48 Hour Rule" that is in place still isn't helping the young ones survive.. No one says anything to the news ones that dont find them selves a home.. They just sit and wait.. till that 48 Hour Rule doesn't count no more... I guess what Im trying to say is something needs to be done about it.. As Soon As Possible really..

Rogue grins at Cathy then runs off to the proper old ladie across the street

A few years back.. just a typical day on these streets I stood in a backalley counting the notes I had only moments earlier swiped from the till as the store owner lay on the floor screaming in agony, clutchin the bullet wound in his foot.

200, 250, 300, 320...

"It's easy money" i mumbled to myself as I folded the notes and tucked them into my pocket.

As I turned and started walking to the coffee shop I couldnt help but think about all the people that had suffered so that I could enjoy and easy life. How much longer can I keep this up before I am beyond redemption, before there would be no turning back? From what started out as a picking up a little extra cash has now turned into a lifestyle for me. Where is this all going?

Right then and there I decided that this would be the wrong path. My hand went back into my pocket as I passed a busker on the street. The whole wad of notes left my hand and splayed into his upturned hat.

I enetered a coffee shop and as the waitress poured the coffee, I contemplated my next step. A new era in my life. Maybe I'll start a small coffee shop, like this one, with the savings I have made over the years. Maybe I could move abroad and start a whole new life for myself. The options seemed promising.

As I took the last sip of coffee I stood with a smile on my face, looking forward to this new path I have chosen. I walked to the door as I heard "Hey mister, you gonna pay for your coffee!?".

Without hesitation, more like a gut reaction "Va fanculo!" left my lips, I pulled the pistol from my holster, aiming at the young waitress' face i thought to myself. "I guess i'm sticking around."

-canine- listens to the speech. He smiles slightly. This way of life is so different that the mafioso of his anscestors.

It used to be all business now it is just fun and games. A social club. there is so much happening that would never had happens years ago.

He laughs. A thug as a RHM. What a joke. A street urchin the second most powerful person in the family. With most families having made men, capos and bosses as subcrew leaders a thug, someone who has never proven him/herself in that high a position of authoirty.

He snmirks again, the same bosses , capos and mades are again snubbed when a wise guy is made boss of a city. This is definately not the streets his parents walked.

Cliques, social clubs, -canine- shakes his head and smiles again. He knows his days on the streets are numbered. He also know that none of his future generations will ever walk the streets again.

Elaina listens to the woman she calls friend, who was a past co-family member too and for whom she had a great deal of respect and belief in. After hearing the few standing around reply, she steps up and handing Cathy a pair of gloves, because as usual she was out and about without hers, Elaina spoke to her

I had an ancestor who did make it a little bit further then your sister, she also kept receiving calls to come back and tried very hard to ignore them. But those and her memories and the writings in her family's diaries haunted her. The ones she had killed and seen be killed, the innocents who had been gunned down so close to her that their blood stained her clothing. None of them would leave her alone and being out of this world, there was noone to talk to about it, to understand. Then of course, there was the lack of family, a feeling despite a few relatives and friends of being alone and unprotected. All of this is what drove her back and because of her experiences, have kept my family line in this world since, struggling at times, succeeding at others, trying to make a difference but knowing we are here for good
At that, Elaina adjusts her holster, buttons her coat and heads for the airport herself
