You must now do enough petties to earn a gun before you can post a hit on the hitlist. |

can a gun be bought to bypass this? |

You can not purchase a gun until a minimum number of petties/minimum rank has been achieved. |

Definitely a step in the right direction but I think should have to be a made man+ to hitlist. The average civilian wouldn't have the connections to out a hit out, it would take time working your way up to get those kinds of connections. |

I would agree with DertyDurnel on that point would make more sense |

Making it just for mademan+ kind of eliminates the entire purpose of the hitlist. The hitlist is so that low rankers cant be completly pushed out by the upper echelon. |

So instead the low rankers can swipe a credit card and take out huge hits on the upper echelons because they're pissy? It seems to me that being able to buy large amounts of credits with RL money and sell them on the maket place for in-game cash for hits kind of eliminate the entire purpose of the hitlist. Just sayin. |

The hitlist does not run on credits, Viviana. People buy credits for game cash, and game cash can only be seeded into the game by playing it. |

People use the credits to buy cash from the maket place, like I said. People buy 500 credits, sell them all for 300k a piece and end up with $150,000,000 to use for hits. That's enough for 3 $50,000,000 hits or 10 $15,000,000 hits.
So yeah, using that method the hitlist does run on credits. |

There is 1 billion cash available in game, and looking at the hits posted yesterday they were all bought off. The hitlist can only run if there is cash available to put a hit up.
Stop offering to buy credits at 300k each. Offer for 200k instead, that way more credits would need to be liquidated to meet the hitlist target. One of the main goals in this game for most is to make money. The marketplace is a tool for that. Bunny used to make loads of cash back in the day by buying credits when the marketplace crashed and selling it when it sat near the 500K mark. There are many ways of hitlist-detterence and hitlist tactics, even so much that I'm able to deliver hour-long lectures on the topic and commonly do so, pro bono.
Also, I know your scenario is just an example, but someone willing to spend $500 for $150,000,000 is just moronic. With my services $500 USD would get you $500,000,000 should the capital be available. Though this is commonly reserved for members in my present city as it carries a higher degree of risk - just like hitlisting people. All of this however is covered in my lectures. |

If someone wants to blow $100 or $500 or $1000 of their money because they don't like someone in the game and want to hitlist them... shouldn't that be THEIR problem? Okay. So you're on the hitlist. Big deal? Is someone going to shoot you who couldn't have shot you before that, just because you're on the hitlist? If you're a leader, can't you just have your peons - I mean, crew members - send up the cash to buy you off the hitlist?
I get that being hitlisted is an annoyance. But come on. That's all it is. An annoyance. And I hate the idea of regulating it, and I REALLY hate the idea of regulating it to the point where only high ranks can post hits. That idea is absolutely absurd. |

Agreed entirely, Wednesday. You are considered to be over 18 to play this game, and in most countries 18 is the age of adulthood. We shouldn't have to play nanny-state if someone wants to hand over US Dollars to fuel a vendetta. Donation comps are made for this sort of thing. |

Yep definitely an interesting scenario. I have never hit listed an individual nor have I been hit listed, that I know of. personally I enjoy the idea of someone having to do a certain amount of pretties before they have to post a hit. I guess the only modification other than that I would prefer to see is legitimate reasons as to why one posts a hit. When Wigglebutt was getting hit listed like crazy I personally never knew why. The reasons were similar to that of saying, asshat or, just because. I think there would be a certain kind of realness to a posted hit. To make the game seem more mafia authentic. or if the poster of the hit died the actual hit would go away as well. To me this one never made sense. It's as if the money gets stored somewhere and as soon as you kill them you get the money. It's a bizarre riddle I find that you can still receive a payment even if the payer is dead. So yeah two suggestions but truthfully idc either way. |

Hey Zoey,
The hit already goes away if the poster dies, IF the hit is not anonymous. One of the benefits for paying the anonymous fee is that the hit is not owned by you, it is owned by the player account Anonymous (an NPC account that can't be killed, rather like House). That is why when hits are posted anonymously they cannot be cancelled, despite what Flash-Fire may say, because the hit is not owned by the player who posted it. That is why the fee for posting anonymously is so expensive - it factors in the cost of the hit staying up if the poster dies. |

Snuupy I don't remember ever saying an anonymous hit goes away when the player dies as I know that isn't the case.
Mr_Wednesday since when has Made Man been a high rank? The points can easily be attained in a couple of days. Sure some families may make you earn the rank but if your only objective is only to cause trouble it's not hard to find a family that just promotes people.
Another reason for this would be that people would have something to lose by posting a hitlist rather just a 24 hour wait for gangster and 4 hours(ish) of petties. Also they could also give the money to a made man that they trust to place the hit for them still but then that person is taking the risk. |

@DertyDeneral I never said you said that an anonymous hit goes away when the player dies. I said that despite what Flash-Fire may say, anonymous hits cannot be cancelled. I can reference discussions that took place on IRC when I hitlisted him for I don't know what it was, I think a 50 million 62.5 buyoff in the first round. But it was said that there would be consequences if the hit wasn't cancelled, and when they were bought off Flash-Fire assumed they were cancelled.
Hits aren't cancelled on death if Anonymous, that was clarified to ZoeyH. Anonymous hits cannot be cancelled period unless an admin does it. |

Well being that I am Flash-Fire I think I know what I said. Also I believed the hits were placed by Jeddy and I assumed they had been cancelled by the hitlister as no one claimed responsibility for buying them off. I never once said that they were cancelled by the hitlisters death. |

I like that the hitlist is being used. I think it actually creates something to talk about...at a time where very little gets talked about. I think this change is a solid one, it makes some effort required before you can actually use the hitlist, but it isn't so restrictive as to make the time investment substantial. Making it Made Man+ would be a mistake, in my opinion. There are plenty of things people wouldn't have connections to that are permissible regardless of rank and forgetting the realism aspect for a moment, as someone stated before, if a chap wants to spend $500 on stupid shit like hitlisting someone, let them. You know what they say about a fool and his money; may as well be here. I am also interested in attending one of Snuupy's lectures on the subject as that sounds like a worthwhile hour. |
