Loui steps out from the office on this fine blustery but yet sunny morning. He takes in the sweet smell of the surrounding streets,the sound of violence and on the odd occasion the sound of a gun shot,now for him and his farthers before him this is exactly what he expected from the life all of his kins have chosen and infact he loves it!

With one step infront of the other he makes his way down these fine streets,feeling dressed to kill, his suit said everything about what man he is, sharp,pressed, stylish and expensive,infact it cost the taylor his life but thats an other story.

If i learned one thing from my father it was this "son your suit is what makes you,it defines you and is one of the first things that any crew leader will see, keep it simple and to the point!"

Now on his extremely enjoyable morning walk loui keeps his eye out on all the street corners and the usual hustler spots,even tho he is enjoying his walk he struggles not to notice one very important thing. This something that he feels very strongly on as it has been past down the familly line.

What has really got his goat today?

Whith that loui pulls one of the young gun gangsters aside and asks.....

With that loui takes another deep breath of the crime infected air that surrounds him,puts his hands in his pockets and takes a trip to his local watering hole.... It terms of the stupid threats and 'badges' as you've called them that people adorn themselves with are mostly bought out of a naivity. They've heard about our way of life and have a misguided perception that they'll stroll straight off the boat, punch the Godfather in the face, spray his bodyguards full of holes and then rule the world happily ever after.

That isn't how MafiaReturns works. Once upon a time these lessons would have been learned with a bullet, but we live in generally less violent and more tolerant times. We educate as much with the word as the fist these days and a result the lessons take longer to sink in.

I would suggest that the majority of people who make threats and demands in their profiles do so because they are a cocky young thug who doesn't really understand how the world works. As they grow, develop and expand within their organizations they'll be expected to mature and realise that this isn't how you do business, especially not with Made guys. When they don't, as shown by MickeyTheAnimal's recent 'badge' they are likely to have their wings clipped and to have to learn the lessons all over again.

I haven't been around long so I want you all to know I mean no disrespect by this at all.The people ahead of me on the food chain did so through hard work and effort and I respect them for that. That being said...

The problem starts at the top. See what's happening is people are doing the right thing for awhile and climbing there way up and once they reach a certain spot they think they can break the rules and instead of those higher then them taking them out or teaching them that they can't.T hey just let them continue breaking the rules because they've read a certain spot.

Respect in this thing of ours isn't something that should just be with you if you're young or poor but it should be with you all the way to the top. I understand that I'm young and naive but a made men should not be telling another guy he's going to shoot him in the fucking face in the middle of the street without any sort of action being taken , wether it's an attempted wack on that person , one of there body guards or a verbal warning I don't know. That's for the higher ups to decide

Why? Because it brings in heat from both other crews and the police , which isn't good for business and business should be the main priority of anyone in this thing of ours.

I don't think these people are born disrespectful , I think they either learn it when they're growing up or simply aren't taught that  that isn't the way to go about things in this thing of ours.

A lot of what you've added is right, business is our priority.

However, the people at the top don't lead by example, they lead because they have the power to do so. Nobody should tout themself as a paragon of Mafia, because Cosa Nostra itself isn't about equality it is about the disparity between having money, influence and power and not having money influence and power.

A low level thug doesn't do something because he saw a Made Man do it, he does what he is told to do. I, as a New York Capo, could well be expected to tell my associates what to do, just as SpaceMountain as my Boss will tell me what to do. We are very unlikely to treat people the same way and we wouldn't be allowed to treat people the same way by our tradition and by the very nature of our thing.

It might be easier to visualise your career as a mobster as a collar. When you're a thug that collar is tight to choking point. You get squeezed by everyone above you and if you make too much noise, bring too much heat, piss off the wrong people, a little more pressure and the life will be choked right out of you. As you progress higher and higher up the food chain, you work a little more slack into that collar that your bosses have placed on you. By the time you get to Made Man you've earned a little breathing space, a little respect and tolerance from your family, because you've made your bones. You earn the right to be a little bit more arrogant, you earn the right to share your thoughts and maybe even debate with the more established men in our thing.

This doesn't mean you get to be openly offensive or disrespectful though, as your example found out to his cost yesterday. Being Made is the culmination of your hard work and is the highest honour many people ever achieved. You've earned the right to be treated better than some Thug, but you've also earned the responsibility of living up to the expectations of your position.

The position entitles you to certain things, just as you become entitled to uphold certain things. Therefore I would suggest for a Thug it is a 'do as I say' rather than 'do as I do' because they haven't earned the right to act like a Made Man.
