A young man staggers from the ally beaten to a bloody pulp. A kid runs up to him asking him if he's alright. The man is dazed but continues to try and walk but stumbles with each step. His suit is torn and dirty from the foot prints of several men and the moisture from the sewage in the alley, his cash is gone and he doesn't recall where he is. The kid asks once more if he needs help. The man stares at the kids face with one eye, only because the other is somewhat blinded from the blood and swelling. He's trying to recognize him but is unable and says nothing. Again the kids states sir do you need help? That's when the man looks at the kids face and shakes his head no. He leans against the brick building trying to get his balance. At that very moment the cops pull up in their squad car merely patrolling there beat when they spot him.

The police pull their car over and walk up to the beaten man and kid; they stare for a minute then they ask for his name. The man refuses to speak a word to the police, he simply smiles, his oath of omerta keeps him from talking to the cops. So extremely devote he won't even tell them his name nor who or how many men attacked him. He smiles as they ask several questions, the cops become frustrated because he won't say a word about who did this to him or why. He stands upright as his strength starts to return as they start to cuff him. Then three black Buick sedans 40 series pull up and men jump out and run toward the gentleman and two of them take him by the arms supporting him as they walks towards the car's. Seven others run into the alley but find no one there or nothing that belongs to the beaten gentleman. One of the well dressed men tells the cops everything is ok and that there's no need to report this incident. He hands them a white envelope and smiles as he walks towards the car. Once there he leans in and then quickly turns towards the kid and reaches into his pocket and gives him twenty dollars.

Sitting in the car, the driver asked who did this to you sir. The injured gentleman simply leans back and closes his eyes, as he recalls the day he arrived to Chicago. His father Pop's Diamond was a Capo for the of the largest family in New York before he was wacked. His father told him that this line of work was not for his son's that they were to smart and should become a doctors or senators. Never wanting to be either and only dreaming of the power his father held and closeness of being in a family is exactly what all the kids wanted out of life. He remembers his father's death and how his father's bodyguard handed him his father's guns wrapped in a blood soaked handkerchief on Christmas night. Then he sits up and looks at his own bodyguards. The look informs them to stop talking. If looks could kill the men in that car would be dead. They take him home and he starts to think back to when he arrived into this country how everything looked new and everyone was kind. How he had always been told that in America the streets are lined with gold. How his father told him that America is a cash cow with a few diseases. He recalls his mentor and dear friend telling him that it's better that this country has these diseases now rather than later in life. He recalls the train ride to Chicago and being picked up by a made man and how he was introduced to everyone as a friend of his. Then after a piece of work weeks he was introduced as a friend of ours by a Capo in the family. He is known as a standup guy, a top earner but now he must be known as man that will kill without hesitation. The car picks up speed and he leans his head back slowly and looks at his own bloody covered hands. He thinks to himself; dry, sticky, red from my own blood, my blood, they tried to kill me but why, how can that be, why they would treat me this way is unbelievable and intolerable. I worked in peace, I worked with everyone, and I treated all my partners fair; I made money for all my partners.

The car comes to a stop as it reaches its destination. The car door opens and he is helped out. Over and over and over again he hears sir are you ok, sir what should we do, sir is there anything you need. Yet he still has not said a word. Hours have past seven stitches later and in a clean suit he sit's by the phone. It rings at exactly 5:00 am he talks for 2 minutes then he hang's the receiver up. His guards surround him as they wait for instructions. He smile and walks into his bed room and pulls out an old shoe box. He opens the box and unfurls the oily rags to reveal two nickel plated colt 45's that once belonged to his late father. He stands to his feet and thinks that today he will become a teacher. Those that set him up for whatever the reason they will learn that he is a businessman with a strong heavy hand. Never to be played with or underestimated. Never to be counted out or tossed aside like loose change. This is a lesson his enemies will learn the hard way. A lesson that will spread rapidly; like wildfire in dried elephant grass. Those that betrayed him will be his first student. They will wish that they had feared him and those that know him will now Know that he only teaches his class to you once and if you're in that class it's too late you're already dead and you just don't know it yet.
