| Bodyguards are worthless - sell them all | Started by: Maranello on Feb 17, '10 16:29 |

Well bodyguards do have their place BUT for the most part if someone wants you dead - you will die. I'm not trying to change the Mona Lisa here but there seems to be a flaw with the current design. Wacking skills can almost be trained to infinite by more wacking (1w), the training range (2w) and even more so by the recent addition of NPCs (3w). Yet defense can only be inherently trained by surviving shots (1d). In the very very very old days we might of survived multiple shots throughout our lives and this worked well. These days, before the culprits gun is even finished smoking the killer is shot down and so our defense resembles that of a little girl. This problem results in shots hovering around a 90% success rate (I realize IAs somewhat distort the numbers) as we speak, short wars and the slew of high ranks - Godfathers included who have been shot down with an army of bodyguards surrounding them. I suggest then something be added where our defense (not more bodyguards) can be improved, perhaps a type of armor or a special training range, something - anything to increase our defense. Now I'm not talking about Godfathers missing Goombas here, but something This will allow those who are prudent enough to improve their accounts and not just those who stash away millions and load up on bodyguards at Thug. If you look at a number of other ongoing threads and discussions, you'll notice that there are a majority of people who feel that defence currently far outweighs wack in the game... so far from a 'black and white' argument you have put forward. 1W, 2W and 3W can all be summarised as 'wacking', so technically you can just as easily claim there is one way to train wack, with wacking (a range is nothing more than being given a sure kill, for a set price (both cash and time), with a cap on how high you can train with it). |

I don't think the argument that defense outweighs wack in the game holds any water to be honest. None in recent memory have even put up close to a good fight. More like shooting fish in a barrel. The way I see bodyguards is that they are a fake sort of defense. Bodyguards can be taken away and the user is left weak and vulnerable. If one trains their gun to be able to shoot say a Boss, it should not necessarily mean that they will be able to shoot another Boss which has put in double the work of the first Boss. But that appears to be how it is. (ex. Our rank is our only defense and you know how much variation of work can exist between those of the same rank) What I am talking about is adding is an INTRINSIC defense (because there really is none already). The issue of it turning in to another skill that is bought can easily be avoided by making it an activity that is completed like a petty, felony or even like a MUC that is done at more extended intervals. |

a very good point there Maranello, as we all do petty and felony every day we might as well have another thing to do ( giving more options for players ) making the game even more interesting, adding defense and getting a new way to get 1 or 2k a click if this is to be implemented... this does not have to be a range or an Armour but simply a normal petty like the one we have that increase defense |
