Jail % Started by: Aftershock on Feb 17, '10 17:44

So I know the % goes down to keep people from ranking like mad but really I see no point in making the % go down. They're going to rank anyway. Also I pay for my credits so why can't the % last longer for each stage?

125% is like up to 15
100% to 50
75% to 150
50% to 250
25% to 251+

I just don't see the point in such a rapid decrease. It lowers the interest of me wanting to purchase more credits. Yes it overall boost the purchase rate but after so long we should get more out of each crackdown.

Maybe make the chart this:

125% - 50
100% - 100
75% - 200
50% - 275

Just a slight change but would make people want to jailbreak more making more credits purchased as well. Or maybe for every 500 or so jails thrown up by users we get an entire day of free jailbreaking?

Spit balling ideas here but I'd love to see some change come to this system.

I think the system is fine as it is - it was implemented to stop people from ranking way too fast, along with bringing back the age limit, of sorts. There's a very fine balance in play that has served us well for quite some time.

After x amount of hours, (I think 3 or 4) your proper percentage is restored - what's the rush?

Report Post Tip

I don't know. I feel like it should be slightly increased or rewarded since people throw up credits all the time. It's not like a huge alter anyhow. It's slight at most and would increase ranking yes but I can get to 25% in like two hours. I find it poor that after two hours it's practically useless to keep going especially since I pay for the credits to be used towards something like jailbreaking. A slight increase isn't much to ask.

Report Post Tip

You already do have a slight increase. 25%.

Perhaps an increase of 100% up to say, 75 busts. The majority of users aren't jailbreaking to those kind of extremes though - people who are hitting those 50% and 25%'s are generally the hardcore rankers who end up min timing everything anyway - it'd only serve to reward a very small portion of people out of a giant pool who are fine with the current system.

Report Post Tip

Okay but considering 100% is the full effect why not make it last longer than the 75, 50 and 25?

Report Post Tip

I suggested that it could be bumped up to 75 busts.

But considering you already get a bonus at the beginning anyway, and that a very large portion of the site won't be hitting anything past that, it's not really necessary when you include the fact that it resets after a certain period of time.

Report Post Tip

I just would prefer more bang for my buck.

Report Post Tip

I could put in code that stops you from throwing crackdowns when you are getting close to below 100%, but honestly, I think its best if its left up to you, the crack down thrower, to use your own judgement if you should buy a crackdown or not.  We try to write this game to give you as many personal choices as possible.  When you no longer think its worth it, stop throwing them and wait until you are a higher % again.

If it was 100% 24/7, the jails would be a way for someone to rank *way* too quick.  I don't think someone should be able to rank to capo points, on the same day they start their character, but if we had it at 100% 24/7, that would happen waaay to often. Everyone wants to rank quicker, but when will it stop?  Wouldn't the game be destroyed if you could be Don in 3 days?  Godfather on your 4th?  I really think the diminishing return on a long JB run is a positive thing for the game, and I think it would take a *lot* of user support and a *lot* of logical arguements for me to consider removing it.

Report Post Tip

It's not that I want it raised to 24/7 but more the fact just raise the limits. Like I said bumping each stage up an extra 25 busts or so wouldn't be that crazy.

I do understand the perspective of not wanting anyone to rank too fast but I think there could be a little give here. Asking for the limits to be raised a tad bit wouldn't change the game drastically.

Report Post Tip

Then after people are accustomed to the new "give", they'll want it upped again. And again. It'll turn into a long, drawn out cycle. The system is already set up in a way where you can easily get a good rank in under a month - Back when a few years ago, it would take ages to rank because there wasn't a crackdown system, there was user generated jails - we're talking maybe just edging Made Man in a month, and Don taking a two or three month minimum.

Report Post Tip

That's not necessarily true Swayzak. If Squishy straight up said "No that's completely pointless and would do absolutely nothing at all to up the value of a credit." Then I'd believe it. Yes people sell more in the marketplace because it forces people to jailbreak more if they are trying to rank that hard but....

If they see that they get more bang for their buck then they'd in turn purchase more either with IG money or RL money. No matter what it should generate a little bit more money for the site.

This is a beta version anyway, what's wrong with testing it for a bit to see what happens with ranks and profits? Worst case scenario it get's switched back. Everything is backed up on this site so it'd be easy to simply restore that part.
