| Background checks | Started by: Sneek on May 25, '16 19:42 |
| I think it would be good to be able to run a type of background check it would cost credits of course and would be done by cl or gf so they can look in to the past of people to see if their trust worthy to be made of cource it only shows any one in past lives who lived more then 1 month or so | |

I think that's something that can be handled at a player to player level. :P |

Yeah, sorry this is one thing that shouldn't exist in this game. Permanent death should mean permanent death; allowing players to hold future accounts responsible for the actions of their present account is a dangerous path with absolutely no upside. |

No Sneek - anyone who actually considers the ramifications of this suggestion would oppose it. This is a horrible idea, sorry. |

Gotta add to the train of no's. A couple of reasons why: 1) This would eliminate the ability to rebuild who you are on subsequent roles. Right now someone has the choice to make their new character a continuation of their existing by openly showing their bloodlines or they can decide to go an all new direction in a new life. If you allow them to be tracked to old accounts they would lose this ability in some ways. 2) Death would simply become a forced reroll. The character would not actually be dying but just being demoted all the way back to citizen. 3) Bloodlining would be rampant and we would likely lose a lot of players. Anyone who has ever done anything to piss anyone off would have to worry that they would be bloodlined. I could easily see people getting frustrated and moving on after this happened a couple of times. 4) It punishes people for past actions without giving them a chance to redeem themselves. Part of the true death is that the death is the punishment and after that you get a chance to do it better next time around. This would eliminate that - this ties into the above but I think it is important to point out the need for people to learn from their mistakes without a bulls-eye on their backs. 5) Finally, it lessons creativity. This ties in slightly with 1, but if someone can always look back and see your old accounts it removes your ability to try something quirky with a character and then move on to a new if it doesn't work out. Having the ability to try new things is part of what keeps the game interesting and it would be a shame to give that up. |
