MY WILL Started by: D_D on Mar 05, '10 06:27

I don't how people would react to this .

I want to suggest that there should be a system where i am allowed to write up my will .When i die some one should get my hard earned money .Or atleast my crew leader should get it as a donation to be used for my family .

Atleast some percent of my hard earned money should be useful to some one after my death.

Report Post Tip

I agree that would be a big improvement. If you are extremely rich where does the money go after you die or retire? The will would be a really big improvement.

Report Post Tip

That is not a good idea, because eventualy... they would be no more cash flow. Everybody would be extremely rich!

Report Post Tip

The problem with this is, at this moment in time, we have TONS of money flowing through the game- and not a lot leaving it.  Think about it, really- what are the ONLY things you can spend your money on?  Bgs?  Credits?  Drugs and donations to the family?  Death, and therefore the forfeit of all money on the person's body, is the only way to really balance out this delicate system.  If we were allowed to keep the money our Fathers and Mothers made, they would have to lower the amount of drugs we carry, or up the price of body guards.  Or hell, even eliminate the amount of petties and felonies we can do.

See how that works?  Every action is tied in with another action/reaction.  If you tweak one thing, you have to be prepared to tweak another.  While I can understand the want for a Last Will and Testament of sorts after the latest war, it just isn't a justifiable addition (at least in my eyes).

If you're worried about dying "extremely rich", and your leader or son/daughter not getting the benefit, there's one simple solution: donate it to the Boss in the first place.  If you take care of your Boss, I'm sure they'll be more inclined to take care of your next of kin should something happen to you, God forbid.  :)

Report Post Tip

What if a part of my earnings is forwarded to the boss

or atleast the credit i have on me that could be forwarded

Report Post Tip

All credits carry over to the next character providing you use the same email address.

Cash, however, does not carry over.  If you want your cash to carry over you need to send it to someone before you die, and collect it when you come back.  We use death as a way to keep the cash in the game in check, if money carried over on every account, then the value of money would be much less than it already is.  Also, this would provide a unfair playing field since people who has been here since day one, would have a HUGE leg up on others in the cash department (think 3 years of cash saved) versus a new player whos been playing 2 months.

So if you want wills, or trust funds, or any sort of bridging the gap between a dead player and a live player, it needs to be done by you as a player, we cant do it, since it would defeat our very purpose of having it :(

Report Post Tip

I like the idea of getting money in a will. The amount we get right now feels like an insult.

Also, this would provide a unfair playing field since people who has been here since day one, would have a HUGE leg up on others in the cash department (think 3 years of cash saved) versus a new player whos been playing 2 months.

But how does this give a player an advantage? If they have 3 years of savings then they obviously are not spending. How does money alone help the player? Had they used the money to buy BG's then they would have less cash, so the cash would still flow I think (unless I'm missing something).

Besides new characters are weaker than existing characters. The higher a player reaches the harder they are to kill I think. So then don't war survivors have an (unfair) advantage over players that died in the war. I agree brand new players would have a disadvantage, but on the other hand, when that player dies, if he or she gets a lot of inherited cash would that not entise him or her to stick around?

Report Post Tip

This is coming from a role playing perspective, but people forget to write a will you have to be able to claim that money was made through "legitimate means". The business of the mafia is anything but legitimate. You could never claim dirty money legally without it being laundered first, which is not an option and should NOT be. Therefor, this idea is impossible for a role playing standpoint.

Report Post Tip

Yeah but there are other inaccurate things from a role playing perspective. Like why are questions not asked when $2,000,000 goes into your bank account? Since you have no way of showing you aquired it by "legitimate means".

Also since most people think of the last character as their father/mother why would they not get the cash? In this world I see rich men and women walking the streets with no protection. Rich is $1,000,000 (Hardly a sum you could carry) Would anyone carry their entire earnings with them? I would think they'd leave some cash at home (Hence why a pickpocket can only take $5,000), maybe in a safe. If this is the case I would imagine the rest of the close family would have the combination.

Report Post Tip

Because the bank managers work for the mafia i guess! Even though we see no cash going in their pockets. So for it to become "legit" there should be a percentage going to the bank managers pockets. Although i hate having to share my cash this would make it a little more realistic and explains why there are federal accounts. But as for heritage, i dont like the idea. Because then what would be the point of this game... no more challenges the way i see it. I'd rather start with very little and end up with everything... would'nt you? If you have everything from the start than the game becomes boring to me!

Report Post Tip

From the RP prospective, I feel the killer should get the money from the victim, at least part of the money the victim is carrying.

Report Post Tip

I like balian's idea and what it could be is say they have up to 100,000 then you get all money if they have 100000-200000 you get 90% and so on.

Report Post Tip

I find that quite a few people disagree with this. I see thugs after a war, walking the streets with masses of bodyguards. I also see people below the rank of made, getting RHM and LHM. This is far from starting with nothing.

From the RP prospective, I feel the killer should get the money from the victim, at least part of the money the victim is carrying.

This is one of them double edge things in RP. Whilst it is possible that the killer might do this, it is equally probable that they would get out of there as soon as possible.

I don't like the killer gets the cash idea, simply because it is an idea to make the strong stronger.

Imagine city x in a war. They whipe out city y. City y players start with nothing. City x players have the millions they got from killing the citizens of city y. They buy Bodyguards with the cash. Next war they are much stronger.

Report Post Tip

yea actaully after reading Son_of_a_bomb's statment i am changing mine to i don't like either idea because i didn't think abot the strong and rich just becoming stronger and richer.

Report Post Tip

So then don't war survivors have an (unfair) advantage over players that died in the war.

That statement makes me laugh. Of course they have an advantage over dead people - they are in fact still alive.

There is no logical way of justifying handing over all the dead accounts money to the next one. If I kill someone by burning them alive in their own house, along with their entire house and everything they own they obviously don't get the money, right? Let's say that I kill someone by plain shooting them - I'm pretty sure I would arrange a few thugs to 'randomly' attack his house and burn it to the ground as it's one less safe-house for them to use.

And what about players like myself, who don't always consider their last character to be related to their current one? Where would the justification be to hand over all that money to a completely unrelated person?

Being Right Hand or Left Hand or having hundreds of bodyguards does not change the fact that we all start with nothing. If that person's leader or Godfather decides to give them money for bodyguards it is their choice - we still start with nothing.

is say they have up to 100,000 then you get all money if they have 100000-200000 you get 90% and so on.

Honestly now, in realistic terms who would be wandering the streets carrying 100k on them? I know I wouldn't. The most amount would be during a drug deal, which with 65 units would be around 650k if selling Cocaine. But after a drug deal you're gonna want to stash your money where only you know where it is - and if you die not long after stashing it who would know where it is? Nobody, cause you just died. Now if we think a little more down to earth - not everybody has 65 units. In fact I'd imagine most people have about 30 units average, which is about 300k with selling Cocaine. Also, if I have just killed someone, the first thing on my mind is dumping the gun and getting the hell outta there, not 'how much money did this guy have on him for me to steal?' - people who do things like that are the ones that get caught.

Squishy and Felicity summed this all up quite well. There has to be a balance. Money comes into the game, and it needs to come out too.

Report Post Tip

what if then something was added that would take out more money? like being able to actually buy guns? or in the businessess you have to actually pay for the service. also in the will you should be able to leave things such as DFP'S and what not

Report Post Tip

Sorry Fulmineo... listen to yourself.

'in the will you should be able to leave things such as DFP'S and what not'

How will you enforce that? How could you execute a will like that? The government would contest each and every will.

To my Son I leave my Drug Front and $5m. To my former CL I leave the rest of my money...

Just wouldn't happen mate.

At the moment you get a small stipend from your Parent, that's enough.

You introduce wills and things get fucked up. I'll give you an example. When Diemne reached 1 year, he was given a huge sum of money by the NY families... more than 500 mill.

He WBs 2 seconds later and comes back as a thug, with 500m to buy BGs... even if he came back with 1/2 or 1/10 its a huge sum.

Wills are a horendous idea and would eventual;ly destroy the fabric of the game mate.
