*Slevin lights a smoke as he stands on the street corner outside the HQ, listening to his crewmates talk about their friends in other families. Giving a slight frown, he strokes his chin in a thoughtful manner and interjects.* "Guys, don't mean to throw a spanner in the works, but I have to ask: Just how good can a friend be that isn't in your family? I mean, don't get me wrong, I have friends in other families too, I guess the real question I'm asking is what's more important, friends or family... It's a popular belief that family comes before everything, unfortunately I don't see many people practising this belief too often anymore, far too many people are only out to watch their own backs. But is this belief fundamentally flawed in this world of ours? I'm a friendly guy, which means some of my close friends are in other families, so what happens if our two families go to war? Loyalties are something all leaders should be very aware of. Rules would dictate that if I was at war with another family, I'd possibly be put in the situation where I'd have to pull the trigger against, say, Alfieri, one of the coolest people I know. I'll have to be honest with you, I don't know if I could do it. I mean, we can all say we'd be loyal to the family, etc etc, but how many actually are?" *Taking a long drag of his cigarette, Slevin lets his words sink in for a few seconds, then continues.* "Personally, I'm loyal to my family, and as to situations like I just mentioned, I really couldn't give a straight answer til I was put in that position, hopefully it'll never happen. Then again, I suppose we've got the opposite to think of as well. Say one of your sworn enemies joins your family, you have to work alongside them? That's a tough one too. Imagine it was someone who'd killed your best friend, or your Father, who knows, the possibilities are endless. I guess diplomacy has many uses in this thing of ours, I'm sure there are vendettas after vendettas that have been calmed due to inter-crew relations, last thing anyone wants is a war, after all." *Stubbing his cigarette out on the wall, Slevin flicks it into the gutter.* "Well, there's a bit of a smoke-break thought for you anyways, what would you do in those situations?" |

This is a very interesting topic for discussion, and one i am sure alot of people will have different opinions on. Now if it came to a situation where my family and another family went to war and i had a close friend in that family, i would rather have them shoot at me and kill me than some jack i dont know or even worse an enemy. We are all on the same boat here no matter who's boat it is, I am on my boss's boat and my friends on on theirs, i know i would stay completely loyal to my boss, and i would honestly hope that my friends would stay loyal to their boss. As for an enemy joining the family, wee i am a true believer of every person has a good side to them, and i am willing to get to know that side. We can have more than enough enemies, but i dont think you can have enough friends |

Wacktard leans against a lampost taking what Slevin has to say then stands up straight to respond. To be quite honest with you it's family first, say for example Jay & Mr McTavish went to war (however unlikely) & I was asked to shoot Sonicz his right hand & good personal friend of mine I would do it. I wouldn't enjoy doing it but I would because thats the way this thing of ours works. Now the other scenario you pose, an enemy joins your familys ranks. That is such a simple thing to deal with in this thing of ours, get close to them make them think you have put grudges behind you & plot the downfall. |

It's highly unlikely that the individuals down fall would have a major impact on the family, the fact that they have come from another family as it is means we got on fine without them & that they are possibly disloyal & are looking out for them selfs only. However if that was the case then I would probably just not acknowledge their exsitance & get on with my life. |

I'd like to think he's come to value my opinion since then..." *Slevin stroked his chin, and continued.* "But I see your other point, in ignoring them. I guess that's better than the alternative." |

As a leader, I encourage and maintain many inter-Famiglia friendships. The key is they are friendships, though, and family comes first. However, I discourage friendships with Badass, Inc. as (with the help of my evil twin, TylerDurder) we will be overthrowing them this weekend, so it's pretty much pointless. Oh, dear, I've said too much. *runs away* |

| Business is business and friendship is friendship. Best not to mix the two. Don't the happenings of business influence your friendships and don't let friendships influence your business life. When it comes down to it. Business comes first. | |
