True or False Started by: Peralta on Jun 04, '16 14:56

Peralta was just casually slaving himself away in his apartment, he made his way over to the living room where he started to look out the window at the remaining traffic and people walking up and down the streets; most with bags and others having casual conversation while walking as he smirked, beginning to depart from looking out the window he walked outside of his apartment and down onto the street as he looked left and right as he started to walk towards a telephone booth. Peralta decided to go ahead and call up an old friend, hopefully to rise up his boring afternoon mood with his somewhat baggy eyes resolving around a bad night's sleep, calling up Nakamura and putting the phone next to his ear so he could hear it ringing as he awaits a pick-up with hope that his known associate isn't so busy at a time like this.

Hearing the phone get picked up in the background, Peralta started to talk into the phone and ice some casual conversation.

"Hey, it's Peralta. Just wanted to check up on you and so on, nights over here are pretty rough for me right now with all the damn shots I hear at night, but hey what can you expect? Living in the heart of Chicago it's like a new world order but I was wondering if you wanted to come over and chat, probably discuss something new because I hear rumors almost everyday; always better to check up on it then leave it in the dust right? I'm doing good so far if you wondered but I mean my eyes are so dragged up right now because I can barely sleep like I said before."

"Word on the street is, some of these cops are cracking down on some businesses but god knows what; that's just what I hear, they say it's because some of them operate stupidly or they just don't pay what they need to pay, but today's the day they said. You got any plans tonight by the way?"

Peralta probably kept the conversation going on for a while, almost getting fatigued by just standing in the booth for a while but it was more or less important as most rumors he's heard around town are sparking up around the streets; only with a case to figure out who's saying what and what is the truth and what is the lie, considering it a riddle, one that he wasn't deciding to pursue but another part of him wanting to pursue he just slouched against a part of the telephone booth as he looked at people walk around, the streets were crowded with multiple types of conversation as Peralta stood withdrawn in the booth.

An eventful afternoon of boiling water and diced tomatoes, Nakamura was in his apartment preparing a nice dinner.  He had not been home in a week and it was nice to enjoy some quiet time with a book and a bowl of tagliatelle.  A nice tagliatelle with a rich, hearty tomato sauce was a slice of heaven.

His phone began to ring as he had just poured a glass of wine.  He had thought to let it continue ringing, but after a few earsplitting rings he had enough and answered.

"Yeah?  What's going on?"

Nakamura listened as his friend continued on about rumblings and rumours on the street.  The Durden threat had been calmed again and things were starting to resume to what little bit of normality these streets can usually hold, but something was still not right with the police.  Detectives have started raiding a few business fronts and brothels.  The FBN have been intercepting more and more bootlegging in the past few weeks.  The authorities would seem to damage the on going relationship between themselves and This Thing of Ours.

"Yeah, I've noticed the cops are cracking down on a few our business ventures going on.  I had one of my customers refuse to pay to me the other day.  He told me that he didn't need to pay any longer due to the streets being cleaned up by savages like us.  I broke his arm and took $100 out from his cash register."

He continued on for a little bit longer explaining some of his recent discoveries to the situation.

"Say, Peralta, where are you?  I'll swing by to pick you up and we can go take care of a couple of things."

Peralta listened to his continue the conversation on, hearing about the situation of one of his friends and the recent money situation, nodding along carefully, though his mind jumped at the idea of going to take care of "some things." He always knew where that ended up, at least in his past experience it was either in jail or almost brutally injured; but he can't really expect any of that happening anytime soon after the recent Durden threat was over. The end of TylerDurden was the downfall of the Durden takeover.

"I'm at my apartment just down the lane, you remember where it is right? By that one liquor store on the corner near the Lane? I'm at one of the local phone-booths right now, and I don't have anything else on my plate this afternoon so you can come pick me up here, I'll be waiting at my door so for you. What things you want to get taken care of? Unless you wanna explain that in the car when you get here, then it's pretty much fine with me."
