…he quickly turns the corner narrowly missing a small child polishing shoes for a nickel. He leans forward and grunts hoping to increase his chances of getting away, and not a moment too soon. A cop comes sprinting around the corner a second later, clearly in pursuit of the man. Once he gets towards the end of the block a smile comes across his face; He can now see the dock and his get-away boat. He jumps down and starts to paddle with all the might his exhausted body is able to produce. The cop is sprinting so hard he begins to trip over his own feet, his training kicks in and is able to turn his falling down into a full forward leap. As the cop soars through the air he reaches out and is just inches away from tackling the man off the boat…

A knock on the door wakes GreenBean up just in time. He looks around and sighs in relief. He knows the cops were on the payroll but it felt so real…

GreenBean shouts, “I'm up. Let me guess, you need me to do something?”

An unknown man answers, “No, looks like we have the day off”.

GreenBean rubs his eyes and stretches his arms while looking out the window. The sun is shining brightly without a cloud in sight. Children are playing in the streets, the milkman is on schedule, and there are three old ladies on the corner who look ripe for the picking.  He turns back to the closest and notices a new suit with a note pinned on it, “Great job last week. Keep it up. -B” He glances in the mirror noticing that the suit fits perfectly, “I don’t know how you did it Bobby but damn do I look good!”

He makes his way down the street where he last saw the old ladies, hoping for a quick score. What he finds makes him wonder if today is his lucky day. One of the old ladies dropped her coin purse and inside are three ten dollar bills, “Looks like lunch is on you”.

Greenbean stops at The Smackdown to get a piece of their famous pie. After purchasing his slice of pie he notices a few big timers from L.A. in the corner. He walks over hoping to get in on the action, “Hey guys, what was my role in all of this again?” He hoped no one would notice he wasn’t supposed to be there. Bobby looks over with a confused expression, “GreenBean? What the hell are you doing here! You are supposed to be keeping an eye on the truck depot and waiting for the others from Detroit and Chicago.”

GreenBean smiles and starts to head towards the door, “Oh shit! Sorry boss. I’m heading that way now!”

Upon arrival there are only three trucks, “The boss won’t like this”. He makes his way over to one of the truckers. Once he is about 10 paces away the man pulls out a shotgun and points it right at Greenbean, “What the hell do you want, kid?”

Greenbean stops and places his hands in sight, “I’m just looking for someone to take a job. It pays cash and it isn’t illegal.” The man lowers the shotgun and smiles, “Boy I nearly filled you with holes” Greenbean laughs, “I appreciate you leaving me whole, sir. All I need is to get as many trucks here as possible. It’s my employer’s birthday and he loves trucks! I will give you fifty dollars for every other truck you can get here within the hour and fifty dollars for each of the other drivers. As a sign of trust between us, I will give you two hundred now.”

The man takes the cash in hand then grabs his radio, “Boys, get over here now and there is twenty dollars in it for each of you.” He turns back to GreenBean, “Eighty for each of them to me and twenty to each man who brings a truck, if you can abide by that then we have a deal.”

Greenbean grips the truckers hand tightly and nods, looks like they’ve got a deal. Now that everything is in place he ducks behind a bush and lays down to take a nap, “I’ll just wait here until everyone shows up. So far, today is a good day.”
