| long road ahead | Started by: Damut on Jun 17, '16 10:08 |
| Damut lit a cigarett as he walked back to his 1 bedroom flat. Itd been a single day since he had made the decision to work for a local powerhouse, and was offered the chance to become what he had only dreamed of. Theres not much glory in snatching handbags from the elderly, but as damut walked up the steps to his dingy chicago apartment with a wad of cash in his left pocket, he felt a small sense of acomplishment. Once Damut layed his head on the hard twin matress, he thought of what was to come. "Theres a long road ahead" he muttered to himself as he drifted to sleep. | |

At 5:30 a.m. Damut awoke. He turned to look at the cracked clock and shook his head when he saw the time. "Barely slept a wink". He sat up on the edge of his matress and lit a cigarette, looking out the window behind him while doing so. The sun was well on its way up. He stood and walked into what could hardly be called a kitchen. "Coffee" he said to himself. "I need coffee". He pilfered through his cupboards for the makings, after finding what he was looking for he turned on the sink to fill the pot. Instantly he realized he must have forgot to pay the water bill. "Great" he muttered to himself. Damut pulled on a wrinkled pair of slacks and his cleanest shirt. After slicking back his this blonde hair he headed for the door, not quite sure of his destination. Damut walked into a nearby diner, and sat at a table next to 4 men in suits. The waitress that greeted him there was attractive. Very attractive. She was maybe 5'3, and had the friendliest smile he had seen since moving to chicago. "What'll you have?" She asked him in a peppy voice followed with that smile. "Coffee. Black" He said, not knowing what else to say to the pretty waitress. When his coffee arrived he sat quitely thinking and sipping, until he over heard the four men talking. "The loop, head there and speak to the guy i introduced you to" "You sure we can trust him boss? Seams unlikely he'd do business for so cheap" "Of course im sure, forty five hundred a key. Now go, you've got a deadline to follow." Damut felt for his small wad of cash. Just over five grand. He rose as the man exited the door and began to follow. This could be his chance to move up in the world, and out of his shitty apartment. |
