Hi guys, The Mafia as far as I know, was an organization of organizations which originated in Italy and spread to the entire world.Sure, it is known by different names in different places but the term -'Mafia' is synonymous with organized crime in each and every corner of the globe.

Hence, I feel, to widen the user base of MR, it would be very much helpful if the game was to envelop the entire world instead of only the United States,or, at least only Italy and The US. I do agree that most of the players are from the United States but I myself, invited eight of my mates(I'm from India) and the first thing they said was 'Oh Crap! This stuff is dated, we could live with that but it is based in the US,mate, most of us don't know what was happening at that time and we could not possibly RP here' .

 This version would also have other benefits as it would also lead to different variations of RP and hence increase the variety of the game.Please do give your suggestions.

I think what you are saying Joel has many valid points, however one thing I would like to point out is that not knowing what was happening is all part of the game. You learn what happened and RP your particular side of it (if you are truly interested) into your character. I do know that adding other cities has been mentioned as to growing things a bit.

 I agree with you that if those cities are say; International, then it would be a great advantage to the RP aspect. As well as allowing US based players to learn more about organized crime overseas. I cannot imagine what a private flight there would cost!!

Time and time again this has been brought up and we have to constantly remind people that is game is about the AMERICAN Mafia during the 1930's... NOT the worldwide Mafia.

If you have no idea of what was happening.. research it. I've been playing seven years now. When I first started I had no clue beyond movies... So I hit Google and started to learn and get absorbed into it. I still do research now.. One can never learn everything about a topic.

Too true Ma'am. the only trouble I find is I get too absorbed in the research and forget about what I am meant to be doing.

Also, if you are going for "ease" then which is easier?

Getting off your behind and reading about one era of the Mafia in one country or reading about the mafia in HUNDREDS of countries?

Hundreds? Hmmm. Well, again I think the young man had a fair idea, after all it is simply a name of a particular place on a button...Being no more than 1-3 extra locations. Say an Italy for example -Would be in fact the old country where many of our heritages are from RP wise...

To take it a step further in fondling the idea, lets (hypothetically) say there's HUNDREDS of potential players in Italy who could throw HUNDREDS of dollars at the game if only there was a button that read something like this: Long distance flight to Italy - $45,000 (Hypothetically)

Regardless of the number of foreign locations.. It is easier to focus on ONE nation's history than two or three or four. Organized crime isn't just an Italian thing.. We'd be looking at other countries as well.

It's easier for the coders to focus on the history and ways to work things in for role play with one country.

The game is about the AMERICAN Mafia.. At most I'd love to see it become "North American" and include a city or two from Canada (Not just because I'm Canadian) but because it would bring in more role play for booze and drug running as it was brought in from Canada during prohibition. Pretty sure that during Prohibition in the US there was more involvement from their neighbours to the north than from Italy.

We must also remember that not all crime families are Italian in roots nor do all of us role play being from Italy.

Sure DLS, I agree. Since this is just a place for suggestions, I am applauding the basis of the idea apposed to more US major cities. Ultimately, it is up to MR however, maybe a poll would help to decide just where (if anywhere) a new location could be?

As I stated my nationality has NOTHING to do with the desire to see Canadian cities involved. My basis of that suggestion is that the Canadian alcohol exports were very involved in the rise of crime families during Prohibition.. It would mean expanding the role play possibilities.

i think this is a good idea. If this game was based about 20-30 years later I would also say bring in New Zealand because of Mr Asia and him being a drug trafficker and all.
