The Hardcases to Corktown Started by: Crystalize on Jul 21, '16 00:38

With the sun starting to set and casting a golden glow over the room, Crystalize stood out in the Balcony, an empty glass in had, swirling around the ice cubes left within as her icy blue eyes glanced out over the street down below, waiting for the car to pull up that had a dear friend of her's inside of it. She'd called them to come visit for a very special reason. While it wasn't the best  of circumstances, it was exciting nonetheless.

Smiling warmly when the car pulled up, she turned to head towards her sitting room, getting out the good scotch for the occasion. She awaited the person to enter her room, knowing that the celebrations would start soon.

The sound of boots in the hallway drew her attention to the door where a man walked in, his signature leather jacket draping over his normal attire.  Smiling towards them she moved towards the man to give him a hug before ushering him into her home.

"Welcome dear, I'm glad you made it here, please have a seat. I'm sure you've an idea on why I've brought you here?"

She walked with him towards the seating, smiling warmly towards him as she poured them both a glass of scotch, the setting sun catching the golden liquid, making it look like liquid fire as it moved in the glass. She smiled sweetly as she handed the second glass to the man, taking a seat in her own chair.

"I hope you aren't worried dear, for I have wonderful news I wish to share with you. I know you've been working hard and it's shown brightly among everything."

She let those words sink in for a moment or two before standing up again and walking over to where there was a glass bowl on an end table. Reaching her hand in caused a slightly jingle to ring through the air, the sound keys made when they hit against each other. She turned back towards the male and walked with even steps until she stood in front of him.

"Stand, please, and hold out your hand."

She would wait for him to do so before placing the keys in his hand, hovering her own hand there.

"The news I wanted to share with you, is that these keys are now yours. There is a building within Corktown awaiting your final touches on the designs. As well as a name for it, so... what shall you call your family?"

She had a serious look on her face as she took a drink from her scotch, savoring the taste of the rich liquid while patiently awaiting their answers. She knew he wouldn't let her down, as he'd done nothing but step up to each occasion since joining her family.

"Welcome to the top of Corktown, JoeyO ... I take great pride in having watched you climb your way through the ranks with determination and pride as you have done, I know you will do us all proud as the newest addition to Corktown."

Joey smiles warmly at Crystalize, she had such a way of making him feel comfortable while still somehow giving off such a strong sensation of... intimidation? "Yes... intimidation was it for sure!" Joey thought to himself as he noticed the pistol sitting on the end table by her chair.

"It's an honor to meet with you Godmother!" Joey says, never allowing the smile to leave his face for even a second. He makes his way to his chair in the sitting room, stopping only to accept a glass of incredibly expensive Scotch, and then makes his way to his seat opposite the Godmother.

He sits and listens to the woman as she speaks, smiling with pride to himself as she complements his hard work on the streets of Detroit. It hasn't always been easy but he has been able to find ways to make himself a profitable living over his short time since joining The Crystal Gems. He had worked hard to prove his loyalty and always been mindful of those that had helped him reach the various milestones in his career.

"I assure you Godmother, I'm not worried! Thankful for the kind words and recognition, but certainly very curious as to the direction this conversation is headed!"

Crystalize's lips form a rather sly smile as she stands and makes her way over to an end table at the other end of the room. With her back to Joey he can't quite see what it is she is doing but the metallic sound of jingling keys are enough to make his ears perk up as they are soon heard in the silence of the Godmother's office. She turns to face him and asks him to stand and hold out his hand.

Without hesitation Joey stands and extends an open hand to receive the keys from the Godmother. She drops them into his hand and tells him of a building not far from here that is looking for a few... finishing touches and a name!

Joey struggles to catch his breath for a moment, this is a huge moment for him but the name was on his tongue instantly. As if rehearsed a million times before Joey looks up at Crystalize with confidence in his eyes and a broad grin on his face:

"The Hardcases"

Congratulations, Joey. Creativity doesn't seem to run through your bloodline's veins - at least not for naming the family - but I'm sure that is compensated by a strong dose of capable leadership.

Ah! A desire for tradition doesn't always mean a lack of creativity Mountbatten! But I'll focus more on the second half of your comment and say that I intend to lead the Hardcases on to be an incredible crew and asset to Detroit, and hopefully to the cities that we have friends in as well!

TurkeyBear was waiting at the hall when Crystalize was delivering the news. TB was excited to meet the new captain, as he has only received nothing but praise from people who he had conversations with about JoeyO. Not long after he finished his cup of coffee did the large wooden doors opened, with JoeyO beaming from ear to ear. Crystalize was a few steps behind him and Turkey approached the new captain - his new colleague in Corktown - and gave JoeyO a firm handshake and a warm smile.

I've heard nothing but praise for you Mr Joey. We've never worked together before, so I'm quite excited for the journey ahead of us. Don't be shy to say hello whenever you're around the Guards HQ.

TB patted JoeyO's back so hard, Joey started coughing. TB gave a hearty laugh and the two men - or much rather one man and a TurkeyBear - ventured to the streets of Detroit to find themselves a place to celebrate.

As Joey exited the office, not so much opening the doors as just excitedly barreling through them, he almost ran face first into TurkeyBear. A bit surprised at first he was happy to accept the handshake and warm welcome from a fellow crew leader in his district. They had talked before but usually only briefly or in the interest of business but it was good to feel accepted by an already established Captain in Corktown.

"Thank you so much Mr. TurkeyBear!" Joey managed to get out between coughs brought on by the viciously friendly pat on the back. Joey laughs and joins TurkeyBear out on the town for some drinks and celebration!

Philly Tarantino heard the rumors from the great grapevine in the headquarters of the Crystal Gems. Philly shined up as the sun upon hearing the great news. The last of the scotch were downed in one go and Philly raised from the table. He took a short trip over to Joey's new headquarters and stormed inside with a big smile. He embraced Joey with a handshake followed by a tight hug. Philly pulled back and said with a smile;

"Congratulations, Joey. You are certainly the right man for the job. I could not be more happy that you were the one they picked".

Philly's loud and hoarse voice echoed through the halls of Joey's headquarters.

"Now, let's drink shall we? Have you got any alcohol set up in this joint yet, huh?".

His trademark smirk is plastered across the face as he examines Joey's new property.
