Escape Started by: Unicorn on Aug 11, '16 01:54

I have to clear my head. The Los Angeles crews were mutilating anyone who stood in their way. Bodies were suspended on hooks inside meat freezers, packaged into crates, burned or buried alive. But the wine kept pouring, and the LA crews were all fed and well taken care of. The Depression didn't exist for us.

For the next few hours, she sat at her desk going through taxes and earnings of her family.

JUno, despite her wishes was partying in Vegas as usual. DirtyChode was in and out of rehab occasionally drugged up or ranting in the streets. However when sober, he was a machine; extremely focused on making money. PinkKush is young so Unicorn made sure her brother's protected her. Julius and Coffin would occasionally stop by the docks and the restaurant to greet her as they traveled on their drug routes.

Her small family did their best for Don Stephania.

She softly yanked the balled chain of her banker's lamp to cool the air then tucked the files and receipts back in a manila folder.

Let's get out of here, Snow. Los Angeles in this heat wave was no place for her pure bred white Eskimo dog. As Snow's tail wagged excitedly, Unicorn grinned as she made a phone call to Don Stephania. It's been a long time since she smiled. She left a note on her desk in case her family came looking for her:

-Gone to Aspen - Unicorn

Unicorn took a deep breath soaking in sharp crisp mountain air. Her dog was finally in her natural habitat as they climbed up the thick wooden steps of her secluded log cabin overlooking the forest and snow peaks. No one would find her here. Not the cops or rats.

Rubbing her hands together, she lit a fire in the enormous stone fireplace. It's soft glowing warm light illuminated the fur rugs and  wooden couch covered in Native American decorated blankets.  She slowly smoked from her wooden pipe while looking at the fireplace, drinking a deep rich Cabernet Sauvignon. A kettle of thick stew bubbled on a wood burning stove nearby. All her stress melted away as the blast of snow wind crept in and out of the log cabin doorway.

It had been a long morning for Buck. After a few hours, he finally was able to make his way out of bed and into the warm embrace of the ever-loving sun; walking down the street he noticed what looked to be a rather old and rusting piece of metal. Not knowing exactly what it was for, he did the logical thing and gleefully picked it up. Slicing his finger in the process.

"Well, it's not that bad."

Five hours later he awoke in the hospital. Weird bits and bobs shoved into various parts of his body, and while normally he'd be okay with such an occurrence, something about doctors had always rubbed him the wrong way and so he set off onto a new adventure. Once the hospital doors opened and he stepped outside he quickly noticed it had only gotten more hot in the city of LA.

"Swoosh."

He wasn't sure why he made that sound, but he did it. It happened. Get over it. The sweat built up all over his body and he felt more and more uncomfortable, almost to the point where he needed an escape. Maybe he would go spelunking? Deep into a nice cool cave. That sounded nice. So boarding the first plane he could find, he set off. He wasn't entirely sure where it was going, but surely it had a cave somewhere in the vicinity.

"Pilot! Fly!"

and fly he did.

Aspen

He had no idea what or where this place was, but it was cold as a cold version of hell, and there weren't any caves but only mountains. Being slightly disappointed, Buck bucked up and tried to make the most of the situation. Upon stepping off of the plane and into the freezing tundra he remembered that Unicorn had been yammering on and on a few days ago about something, and was pretty certain she had mentioned coming here for a vacation. What are the odds? Crazy, huh? Almost as if this was completely intentional. Spooky.

He had no time to think about it however. The race was on, he had to find this lodge before he froze to death.

"UNICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN."

It was a long shot, but yelling at the top of his lungs was the best idea he had all day. Maybe it would work...

UNICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN!

Eyes bulging, a flakey puff pastry fell from Unicorn's mouth. She was snuggled by the fire wearing hot fuzzed cream kitten print pajamas.

Her round blushed face peeped through the embroidered curtains of her log cabin window.

"Is someone selling corn?" she gasped excitedly. She wasn't planning to go to the fruit and vegetable market until Tuesday.
She put on her sky blue fur trimmed parka, fuzzy ball beanie hat, rainbow snow boots, and sparkle mittens. Once outside, her dog Snow barked excitedly and ran ten feet away towards the bushes. Next to them on the ground lay Buck barely conscious, his finger gashed leaking a small pool of blood in the snow.

"You're not the corn farmer!" Unicorn said disappointed. As she kneeled down towards his face to uncover his scarf, she squealed excitedly.

"Godfather Revan!"

"Spelunking," Buck called out faintly and moaned. "For the last time, don't call me Godfather Revan. Grandpa died years ago."

"I'm sorry Buck. How did you find me?"

"I got your 1,457 messages begging to come."

"I sent 1,589. What happened to the other 132?"

"I threw them out the window into the street."

Unicorn helped him up. Once inside she bandaged his finger and brought him puff pastries and hot beef stew as he lay in bed.

"Buck?" Unicorn sat next to him on the edge of the bed.

"What?" Buck answered gruffly eating the stew as the book "Joys of Spelunking" lay on the blanket next to him.

"I'm so glad you came."
