Properly Fail to Steal From an Art Gallery Started by: Unicorn on Aug 12, '16 05:48

She could recognize one of us in this thing of ours.
He stood out as he walked past her on the Venice Beach pier,
the wooden planks softly shifting underneath their feet.

In that slow split second he didn't flinch his gaze as he walked past her.
Unicorn knew better. She decided to sway her hips ever so slightly, defiantly, as if to pull his eyes to
turn around. Her miniskirt flashed a bit and she looked behind her shoulder just as he did right on schedule.

She liked his style.

"I'm all about the retrowave, " Unicorn thought biting her lip.

"Hey, you like art?" He caught up to her.

"Yeah, why?" Unicorn looked at his sun glassed covered face enjoying his stubble chin.

"Follow me." It wasn't a request it was more of a command.

Unicorn was feeling rebellious; she usually didn't hang out with people other than her own family, but lately with all the brutal murders she needed a distraction. Besides, she wasn't afraid considering she mugged a man within inches from his death an hour earlier.

As they walked towards his car he introduced himself.

'I'm Burnett."

"Unicorn."

He raised an eyebrow but didn't dare to question her name with the gaze she gave him.

They arrived at the Venice Beach Museum of Art. He parked a few blocks away, lit up a joint and offered  it to her.
Thick milky clouds of smoke enveloped the car windows,  he came closer to her, but only to gunshot the smoke into her mouth. The next thing she knew they were laughing up and down the gallery hallways holding hands while discussing about the paintings and sculptures that came to life before them.

One Tamara De Lempicka painting was on loan to the museum. As she gazed at it admire the shadows and lighting, he stood behind her, his arms wrapping around her hips as he whispered in her ear,

"Want it?"

"You're kidding right? It has to be worth over $100,000 if not more. I don't even think it's for sale."

"Everything as a price." Burnett whispered tingling her ear and neck. "We're going to take it later."

"What? Later? The museum is closing in thirty minutes."

Burnett lead her to the ladies restroom and quickly pulled her inside along with himself to one of the stalls in the back.

"Are you crazy? You can't be in the ladies room," Unicorn fiercely whispered.

"Just stand up on the toilet seat, keep your head from showing above the partition."

Maybe it was the marijuana, but she obeyed and stood up on the toilet seat, her back leaning against the bathroom wall. Burnett shut the bathroom lights off then came back standing on the seat too.

"What the hell are we doing?"

"We're waiting on the security guard to finish his rounds."

"We're going to get caught like this there is no way--"

Burnett quickly kissed her, muffling the noise of protest she made. In that moment she forgot where she was, who she was, and the man sucking on her tongue was all she knew.

The bathroom entrance door opened. A security guard holding a flashlight waved the light under the stalls quickly then walked out. By that time Burnett's tongue was swirling around her sweet candied mouth, his body pressed hard against hers.  With a methodical tug of her lips, he pulled away and stepped down from the toilet seat, helping her get down. He slowly opened the bathroom doorway. The dimmed studio lights illuminated a dim path as they walked through the eerie silent gallery.

Burnett and Unicorn stood in front of the same painting again. Pulling gloves from his back pocket he carefully lifted it off it's hook. As they headed towards the side exit a blasting echoed voice came down the hallway. The menacing figure of a security guard came forward.

"HALT. PUT THE PAINTING DOWN AND PUT YOUR HANDS UP." The museum alarm sounded. Burnett and Unicorn ran through the side entrance bashing the large painting along the door frame, tearing out a corner.

"Just leave it." Unicorn said breathlessly as they ran back to the car. The faint sounds of police sirens came closer in the distance.

Burnett agreed and dropped the large painting, grabbing her hand as they ran back to the car and sped off.

As Burnett pulled up to her home to drop her off, he passionately kissed her.

"I had a really nice time. Want to go on another date with me?"

"You're idea of a date is insane. We failed. Maybe next time form a professional team, not just me and you," Unicorn shook her head pulling away from his lips.

"I think we make a great team."

Unicorn smiled, "Maybe next time if I see you again."

She got out of the car and headed back inside.
