"Joe Bloggs" is more then three ranks below you. You need authorization to kill them
why exactly do I, or any other made member require auth to kill an unsponsored gangster who's been IA for several days?
if it was auth to kill 3 ranks above, fair enough, if the person 3 ranks below you was a made man + then again, fair enough... but requiring auth to shoot someone who's a US gangster doesn't make any sense at all :s |

The game classifies someone IA when they hit 7 days IA. You do not need permission to kill a gangster that is over 7 days IA. The one you are looking at probably hasn't hit the point where they are classified as 7 days yet. (If this is not the case, which gangster are you referring to so we can look into it?) |

they weren't offline for 7 days, only 3 (they were 7 day old) but that doesn't really change the point which was, why is permission needed to kill gangsters (or anyone below 3 ranks) in the first place?
I get not rolling on someone who out ranks you by 3, I can understand that but it doesn't make sense someone would need permission to shoot a wiseguy but not a made man with the 3 rank difference in place. If the auth requirement was in place for anyone made man and above (regardless of rank difference) because you need to clear that business with the higher ups before you start taking out made men that would make sense... but when they're wiseguys and below, they're not official members of the mob, only associates and it doesn't compute that a made man needs permission to shoot a nobody but is free to go around icing mobsters of stature who out rank him |

Simply put, the userbase as a whole would kill off anyone they could get away with for the +1, which would pretty much kill off any and all users brought in by advertising that cant immediately find a crew if there was no Auth, 48h, -4h and so on. Self control is not in the very nature of a portion of our wackers, so much that they would choke the game to death in the long run for the immediate short term sanctification. If your boss does not trust you enough to give you perm auth, you should work on identifying the reasons for that an start addressing them, or move on to another crew who you can build that trust with. |

Also shortening the IA time from 7 to 3 days would result in the same exact number of targets. You would race against the same number of wackers. You would get the same number of kills. The only difference is the possibility of a player who will come back to a live account after 3 days versus a dead one when he first starts. There really is no gain, only a loss. |

"Simply put, the userbase as a whole would kill off anyone they could get away with for the +1"
okay. this is nothing to do with giving trigger happy dudes the ability to kill noobies to the game for +1 to their gun. It's not about undoing the advertisement efforts and I have no doubt what so ever that CLs will continue to make it a part of their crews rules to double enforce admin coded "dont shoot the -48s and don't shoot -4s" I didn't suggest removing the -4, the -48, i didn't suggest that the R mode be removed.
this is literally about the fact that if a -4 (whos on the RIA list) was active within the last 7 days, made men + need permission to shoot them because they're 3 ranks higher. or even if a consig needs permission to shoot at a goomba who's decided to rogue, for example. but a made man can shoot that same goomba without special permissions coded by the game.
in the example I gave, the target was a REAL inactive. the difference between them and any other real IA is this one had come back 3 days prior to turning 7 days old then disappeared again before losing their -4. The only thing questioned, was why a gangster/goomba/earner/wiseguy can kill an RIA who was last active 3 days ago, but anyone made man and above which is supposedly a position of seniority, needs extra coding to permit them to do the same. it was, by all possible perspectives a legit shot that anyone who was a gangster goomba earner and WG could have taken without permission. but being 3 ranks above suddenly permission is required. this doesn't make sense.
this feature isn't a fail safe to preserve the new comers. most made men and above have learned already not to shoot the newbies. the people most likely to kill someone with a -4/48 tag are those who aren't made and above and don't need permission to do so anyway.
as for the second part about 3 days instead of 7, not sure if I wrote that badly or you misread it due to tiredness or summink, but there was 0 suggestion there. that was literally a bit more info in response to your first reply to the thread :) |
