Firstly, if I say I dislike firms in general, aren't I a communist? I mean, who's seriously going to say 'down with firms!' in America? The feds care way more about communism than about this thing of ours: we'd be in jail quicker than you can say 'hail Lenin'. Secondly, even if I did have negative comments about firms in general, what difference would it make? Would the owners of these firms (who are making lots of money) tip their hats to me and say 'sorry Olivero, we didn't realise you disliked our businesses!' and close? I doubt it. Thirdly, as people have said before, it's difficult to appraise firms in general, as there are so many different types. It's like asking what you think of people in general. You might get an answer, but it'd be a generalisation and it'd be irrelevant. |

Octavius, I find your opinion confusing. Firstly you say: To try to generalise and make sweeping comments about 'firms' is nigh on impossible Then your next retort is to agree that a debate on firms in general is a good idea :s Anyway, my two cents is that firms are brilliant and, excluding war, is what our society depends on, and longs for from day to day. Not only do they encourage people to come out in the streets and give their opinion, but activity amongst differnt crews, which is sometimes hard to come across as crews like to keep themselves to themselves. Also, a bit of friendly competition be it amongst crew members or between crews can never be a bad thing. |

Then your next retort is to agree that a debate on firms in general is a good idea :s Either point me in a direction where I've remarked, or agreed that a debate on firms in general is a good idea, or stop not only putting words into my mouth, but completely making up what I have or haven't said. |

It was not an agreement to what Jay-C said, never did I utter any agreeance or similar. The phrase "Hey Presto, confusion resolved" was in reference to, well, the confusion being resolved. The confusion namely being whether Jay C was talking about speccfic firms or firms in general. Had I wanted to be a hypocrite and say that a debate on firms in general was a good idea, I'd have said "A debate on firms in general is a good idea" rather than "Hey presto, confusion resolved" |
