Momentum was growing around the grand news. Godfather CrazyNine and his men were soon to officially unveil their Casino to the masses the following morning.

I just about managed to decipher it was 2:50 am through my blurred vision. I had been running on sheer adrenaline for hours, after winning $370,000 in a jackpot on the Jennings Gooseneck Slot. Cries of "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!" erupted at the next table for the third time in an hour signifying someone had been dealt a blackjack, and sharpening my attention enough to focus on my cards and give me a second wind.

Excitement was palpable in the air of the casino. Tomorrow was shaping up to be something monumental. The news has been plastered along the front-page of every newspaper and widely reported across radio stations across the country, and there was good reason. For once, we welcomed the journalists.

I was in the presence of an eclectic mix of some of Saint Louis' finest, among various other top Mafioso's invited from across the country. It has always been common for us to play poker, but I was never the competitive type and I always enjoyed observing. I was content doing my best to maintain the low trickle of the local radio station and various blues records.

There are two major tables of poker being played, The_Definition and Crazy_Innocence had a growing reputation of collapsing rich Mafioso's livelihoods in a matter of hours, and in some respects I often considered some folks even found it an honor just to lose money to these fine people.

Tonight, I noticed one unfortunate chump wasn't the happiest and began flapping: "How could I have lost with that hand? You... f---", the player did well to hold his words, but smacked numerous chips off of the table with an outburst of rage. Within a blink, The_Definition had leapt from his seat and had him firmly by the scruff of the neck. He proceeded to toss him onto the wet pavement outdoors.

The nightlife was still going strong outside and there had been reports that trains and flights had been fully booked for the forthcoming days. The great surge in tourists all wanted to try their luck in the opening festival.

I noticed our advertisement was being played on the radio station once again, and cranked up the volume.
