| Bring back my unread mail Count! | Started by: AmeliaGato on Sep 09, '16 06:09 |

Right - So Izzy removed the unread mail count - and I hate it. I want it back. Because of the reasons it was removed, might I suggest that it becomes something you can TOGGLE on and off. OR. At least let US see our own mail counts. Because some days I just look at how many I have and go "lol naaah" and then ignore it for the rest of the day.
Please. Pretty please. Pretty pretty Please. |

It's like...something is missing from the profile pages now. Every time I go to one, I double and triple check for that little number without success at finding it. I'm getting the world's most minor case of whiplash. A longtime friend is now gone and I'd like to see it back home again. |

You can now view your unread count by looking at your own profile. |

"Because of the reasons it was removed" I don't see any news & announcement threads about this, nor did I see any pop admin messages about the change when it happened. (did I just click too fast and miss the pop-up box?)
what were the reasons for the change? |

The original intent behind the unread mail number was to promote patience when mailing someone who hasn't read your mail yet. When its use becomes perverted beyond its intent and is used for things like not contacting a new user because he has unread mail, or to see if someone is ignoring you, or actually promotes angry mails because impatient people saw your number go down by 1... it loses its meaning. A feature that has more pros than cons is a good one, one that doesn't provide enough pros to outweigh the cons should be rethought. Hence, it was removed. I didn't do a game change notification on it because its not something you need to plan ahead for, its not something that could cause you to improperly play because you didn't know about it. Most cosmetic game changes are done without an announcement because the user will notice it, or maybe they don't, but it doesn't matter. Interrupting the user to tell them about something they already know or something of no significance is kind of a waste of time. You know what I mean, we've all been in that crew where you login after 2 days off and you have 17 mass mails :P |

Ha. "we've all" and "2 days off" in the same sentence, you've got a great sense of humour, Squishy. |

A fairly decent change, for the most part I think. I'd have preferred it if Unread mail still showed for CL's, at least, but this is still legit. |

Bump. With enough support could we get it put back in for just CL's, Squishy? I think that was quite effective in letting the public know how on top of,or otherwise, a CL is with their mail. When it comes to Leaders at least, I think they should be scrutinized if they let their mail pile up. |

| Why would you want to scrutinize leaders on this? Replying to mails or not doesn't mean a leader is poor. As you look across the country you will see leaders with varying message counts. So if you're going to compare unread you mise we'll compare sent emails as well. No leaders can reply to all messages, it's absurd to think that would be the case. And even if this is turned back on its as easy as viewing all your unread messages and marking them as read and you are none the wiser. I wouldn't mind seeing the message count go away as well for the same reason why the unread count was taken away. Too many use this in a stalkerish manner and will watch the count after sending a message to see if their getting irngored or placed on the back burner. I don't see any reason why it's made visible as your message count doesn't necessarily reflect how good or poor of a leader you are and I feel there is more weight to be placed on public comminication in the streets than what should be placed on private communication that is generally just friendly banter. | |
