It was late afternoon. I was sitting in the speakeasy my cousin had showed me the year before as usual,  drinking myself away for the night. Having just been laid off of work, I'd had enough of the corporations and their so-called caring attitude.

Its all a scam. We work to live, live to work. But we're not truly living   

Just as I downed the last bit of my whiskey, the bartender set another in front of me. I eyed him and it cautiously. I hadn't ordered this. 

This is from the gentleman in the suit two tables down the way. He wants to talk to you.

I got up, turned around, and faced the direction where he nodded his head.  Our eyes locked.  There was something mysterious on this man. Something powerful. This guy seemed like the calm before the storm. I slowly walked to him, drink in hand and all until two rather large muscular guys in suits stepped in front of me.   My eyes slightly widened. 

Who is this guy?! What does he want?! 

He smirked with a glint in his eye as if he knew what i was thinking. 

Let the gentleman through you two. 

I walked up and sat down. He nodded and spoke, still smirking at the expression of awe on my face.

cutie sat by bar, two seats down from her boss and her other fellow associates. "Dubonnet Cocktail please." Suddenly, she heard the boss talking to a man. He looked a bit too young to be in here, she thought. "Uh, make that two please thanks." The bartender nodded and started preparing the drink, cutie's favourite quality gin. She never heard her boss mention anything about keeping an eye on people but she figured that maybe he had something else in mind. In fact, there were some demotions announced about a week ago...

"Boss, your new friend?" cutie came over, looked at Archgenie and gave a hearty smile.
