In my bloodline's experience that is not alway true. A few of my ancestors were never judged on what their parents did. There are time that you won't be judged by what your parents did. As Godfather CrazyNine said it's all up to the CL. 

For example. One of my ancestors (actually quite a few of them) have done some outrageous things and have screwed up enormously but there are a few of my bloodline that have gone on to do great things within the families they were in. My mother was not judged on her mother's mistakes when she came into Chicago. So there are sometimes that you will catch the clean slate even if it appears hard to find.

Exactly Godfather CrazyNine. I know I only speak for myself when I say I don't judge by the past - as I do not, and would not pretend to know other people's policies.

Ricone.. Not everybody judges by the past. Like I said, I wouldn't judge someone based on forefathers. Sure, sometimes it's handy to know that stuff as you know what kind of person they are likely to be. But I don't believe you should hinder or think less of someone because of that information.

But like CrazyNine said, your crewleader can treat you however he or she likes. If they want to judge you it is up to them, if they do not judge you by your forefathers then consider yourself lucky.

I look at life simply and I find that I'm rarely disappointed by this stance. On this subject I will say that if anyone was to say to me they will leave my family if I don't furnish them with bodyguards, they are already leaving my family by way of a bullet from my gun in their head.

I never have and never will help someone who's parents I did not know personally. Yes they may have been the greatest that ever lived, but if I didn't know them then I couldn't care less. Asking me for something like bodyguards without first earning that right is unacceptable to me.

As for those who say they will join me only if.... extortion is something I love for it makes me money, but unless your more powerful than me, don't even think about asking such a thing, for you words will fall on deaf ears.

There are a couple of things that i would like to say as well its just a whole lot of repeating but to kind of emphasize the point that no one is worth anything, thats why you join the family. You are nothing without your family, if you die your family members will still go on and the sun will continue to shine that day you are dead. Sorry to burst any bubbles. So i can only wonder what it would be like to have someone like that in your crew? How much of a disturbance and a nuisance this person would be. Being a former member of New York and now a member of St. Louis i knew and still know that you dont just waltz on in and expect everyone to hail you. Yeah your fathers and mothers were great, but who are you again? I would be willing to say this.

Treat others greater than yourself, And treat yourself with only the respect you have given. If one does not respect you then give them a reason why they should. If one is amazed by you, give them reasons to stay that way. To sum it all up we all walk the same ground and we all started at the same title, your ancestors are not excluded, and  so go earn something and show everyone why you have it.

There should be no room what so ever for a new mobster to make demands of their new or potential leader. None!

I can understand a young mobster making mention of his or her lineage in order to better their chances of entry into a reputable family. That's entirely natural and is only used in an effort to show the leader in question that the candidate comes from a solid background and will be therefore more likely to become a useful and productive member of the family. In fact, all the leaders I have known have always preferred to know the ancestry of a person they are going to take in. Cosa Nostra have always sought to trace the blood of their members back as far as possible, it has shown over generations to be a valuable starting block for trust, that most valuable and illusive of assets. Using reference to lineage in this way is entirely acceptable.

But that's where it stops. Period. Any benefit, protection or assistance thereafter is the leader's decision and no one else's. If they choose to appoint an army of bodyguards and a mountain of money to that person, that's up to them. If they decide that the protection of their home and carrying their name is sufficient, that's up to them.

Ahh a subject dear to my heart.  Sadly it's a subject that has been debated for many many many years.   Dom hangs her head a little before pulling a cigarette case out of her purse, removing a cigarette. 

To say that a man is never judged on his bloodline cannot be true.  If that were the case, we would not have Goomba right & left hand men and women walking among us. However to say a man is always judged on his blood line is also not true.  I can say from personal experience than my actions now have not been judged by the actions of my grandmother.  My actions now have been judged based on my own actions, though some of my past did come into play when I was applying for a home with ScreamingButterfly. It was more of an explanation or reason for my being here in the first place.  I mean, we all have to come from somewhere, right?  It also took some sons & daughters who's ancestors were close with my ancestors to help me find my way on these shores.  We all had to find help somewhere when we first landed.  Dom puts the cigarette in her mouth and looks around for a gentleman with a light.  Finding one, she smiles, takes a drag and exhales a long trail of smoke before continuing.

Now, to the subject at hand.  Does any bloodline have the right to waltz up to a Don or a Godfather and demand royalties?  Fuck no. If I were the Boss, I'd toss them out on their asses and let the wolves have them.  Do some bloodlines deserve that honor? Depends on who their family was, whom they served, and how valuable their potential leader finds them.  Discretion is the key here folks.    Not one of us here who isn't in a shiny bold suit has any right to questions a leaders prerogative when it comes to protecting their investments.  Should that investment be in a certain bloodline, so be it.  But not one of you has any right to demand jack shit from your leader or any other leader for that matter, and frankly if you have the balls to do so, I hope they get crushed for the puny raisins they are.

One point which hasn't been clearly raised to date is that it isn't normally about an individual in a bloodline, it's more often about the ENTIRE bloodline. When someone walks up to a powerful individual, offering their loyalty, that powerful individual has to make judgement calls on if it's the real fucking deal. Sure, what that person has shown or done to date is an obvious factor, but having a knowledge of the bloodline in question can and will, be it on a concious or subconcious level, play a part.

There are many here that jump ship every time their kin dies. When an action, carried out so often in a bloodlines history that it has become a trait rather than simply an action. They don't teach their next of kin the true art of what I call loyalty.

Gaius murmurs a bit to himself understanding that his sense of loyalty is often called ludicrous and not shared by all, but its the way his bloodline has been taught and continues to teach each and every individual in it.

Now as far as younglings expecting special treatment, it goes back to one simple question. Have they earned it? Do you believe they will earn it?

As a leader, this is one of the judgement calls that needs to be made on a daily basis. To be perfectly honest, I don't give a rats ass if a leader makes this call based on star signs, tarot cards, bloodline history, reading tea leaves or any other system. As long as they get the calls right when it comes to the crunch, that's what's important.

This way of life is about one thing, cash. The eternal fights for power are about one thing, who controls this cash.

Is it a wise investment to invest a large portion of funds in an individual that swears there's and there bloodlines loyalty to you until you are taken from this world? Absolutely. As long as that loyalty is more than just lip service.

Is it profitable? That's where it comes down to the individuals. Most of the time its the individuals that don't deserve it that come forward and stupidly ask for it. Ironically, it's the individuals that never ask or say a word, thinking of their family instead of themselves, that really deserve it.

These are the individuals that send up everything to their family, are active within the family coffeeshops, that help the younger members, that never put themselves first, that grow with the family and that live and die every day for their family. These are the individuals that spend the countless hours training a firearm to protect and die for their Don or Godfather. THESE are the individuals that deserve it.
