Thoughts on a few choice words. Started by: LeahSong on Oct 09, '16 20:30

She was amused, looking out her window as everyone runs around spouting of loyalty this , respect that. Have they all forgotten what the seed is for these two concepts, the words floated in her mind. Suddenly compelled she bolted out of her chair and grabs a copy of "An American Dictionary of the English Language" from one of her bookshelves and strolls outside with long purposeful strides.

Her thoughts swimming through her mind as her flesh warms with the energy she is about to expel. Her family has always done what the Great Spirit compelled them to. She stood outside in the street and cleared her voice, then spoke clearly and loudly.

People use words and terms in the wrong context everyday. I strongly feel the reason for this is people do not care what the meaning of the words actually are, only their interpretation of the meaning.  I will use two words here that are used in all worlds those words are Loyalty and Respect.  But to discuss these two words I must also define Integrity.

Integrity what is that really? I will use Webster's to help me here.  She  opens the dictionary, and reads out clearly.

A firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility. 2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness. 3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness.

Completeness, incorruptibility, soundness,

I like this one, The quality or state of begin complete.

Do you stand for the same thing you speak out about in public as well as in private?

Do you hold yourself first to this standard, before you do others?

Respect again from this fine book Webster put together, flips through the pages till she finds the word respect.

A relation or reference to a particular thing or situation <remarks having respect to an earlier plan> ... 3 a : high or special regard : esteem b : the quality or state of being esteemed c plural : expressions of high or special regard or deference <paid our respects>

Now I do believe most of us are using definition  three : high or special regard :esteem.

In all reality one can not achieve this state of being until they first have self respect.

So in disrespecting others you are actually disrespecting yourself : Usually in this state you have forgotten what the first word is I discussed.

Now Loyalty , everyone's favorite word to use against another around here. Flips through the dictionary again till she finds her word. Places a finger along the text and reads clearly.

Loyalty the state or quality of begin loyal, fidelity to a superior, or to duty ,love etc.

Now among many here I am sure the one we mean is the sense of having fidelity to a superior, which is implied faith in their abilities.

That is important implied faith in their abilities, this does not mean adhering to their policies that would simply make you a follower, a "sheep people". Having all the facts and still adhering to polices you don't agree with does not make you loyal either, merely " semi educated sheep people"

Now remember that first word we discussed Integrity. Everything else falls back on this word and having it within yourself for yourself, not to impress others. Just because it is in you, a part of your being.  If you have no integrity or honesty with yourself, it is simply impossible to express any of these to others.

So begin loyal to any other person starts with you being loyal to your integrity first. Your ideas and way of thinking come before any others.

Do not put your integrity below your loyalty or respect.

Because with out integrity, the other two mean nothing but words to be thrown around at ones convenience. Closes the dictionary, turns and walks back to her apartment, not caring if anyone chose to be offended or chose to agree.

Bjorn was finally finished with the backlog of expanding his hq and all the tasks that came with it. As he ventured out he saw one of his associates standing on a soap box holding a dictionary. He got very curious and was wondering what she was up for she had always had a very outspoken mind.

As he listened to her speech he felt a pang of being educated by an older and wiser person. He liked her approach by putting integrity as the fundamentals for everyone's actions. He decided to give a short voice of his thoughts, knowing she was aware of his already as they discussed lengthy during her recruitment to his family.

Dear LeahSong and all in the audience,

I have to say i felt like a little school kid at the beginning of her speech, it felt weird being lecturer on the exact meaning of words. But when having this honesty being shown as well as the wisdom articulated after the reading of the dictionary it make a few other discussions click together in my mind. I do believe that concepts discussed, hey even ones I threw out for you to think about, do have 1 core foundation. That are motives of self and motives of others around us. We all want to get something out of this life, but not everyone wants to get rich, some are happy with a relatively spartan lifestyle where others cannot go 1 day without shopping. Some of us shy away from public discussions where others engross themselves to a point where they are part of every crowd around soapboxes. But what drives our motivations, what makes our objectives and how do we keep true to our objectives. The concept of integrity has very much interested me, but i wonder is it integrity one can upkeep themselves or is integrity rather how society perceives a person?

His words wafted through the window  of her apartment stealing her attention from the book she had been reading. Recognizing the voice of her CL, Bjorn_Ironside responding to her, she laid her book down and walked back outside.  While he spoke as usual in these discussions they have had, he had raised a few ideas she had some thoughts on.

First I would like to respond your statement  of That are motives of self and motives of others around us.

I believe all human behavior is motivated.

All human behavior is motivated by desire, this may be a desire to succeed , or the desire to obtain something such as an object or the affection of another being. All human behavior is understandable, this is related to the concepts of cause and affect . Such as a bee stings you , you then slap it. This an understandable action, related to self preservation. All human behavior is lawful or predictable. If you confront a person in an aggressive manner the person will then respond in kind. Even if it is in a passive aggressive manner. These are  important ideologies to have when dealing with other people it helps to put the relationship into a more objective position.

And now Integrity I love this word because it the base for so many other traits, and very misconstrued in the world.

The base of integrity is honesty.  How can someone have integrity with another person  if they don't have it with themselves? They can not, if you cant be honest with yourself you can be that way to others.

Truth, now people can talk all they want, but old wisdom that we all repeat is this : actions are louder than words.

That is because the words show your intent, but your actions prove it beyond a shadow a doubt.

You said another word  I love perceive, perception. Perception is different with everyone, the way you perceive others, is related to the way you see yourself.  We dislike in other people what we dislike in ourselves and love or respect in others what we love in ourselves.

Kate chimes in with her two cents as she rests against a mailbox.

I think this is a good introduction for some. Others, I think, need the reminders. And it's worth it for everyone to hear about the potential hypocrisy of holding others to a standard you don't meet yourself.

That being said, I feel like the most interesting thing you said here is that all human behavior is understandable. In my experience, this isn't always the case. I've seen a lot of random people do a lot of random shit, and it isn't all "lawful and predictable". Chaos is real, Red.

Still, I largely agree with what you've said here.

There's a quote I read once in a book my mother gave me, and I think it applies here. I liked it, so I remembered it.

She pauses for a moment, gathering her thoughts.

"It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."

Emerson, if I recall correctly.

Two cents are always nice KateLogan, better than no sense.

Love what you said here.   "And it's worth it for everyone to hear about the potential hypocrisy of holding others to a standard you don't meet yourself. "

I would say it is not the potential of hypocrisy, all human animals are fallible, we all have the potential to hypocritical. It is how we deal with it  when it happens.    Potential for anything is limitless.

As far  as meeting standards, whose standards are you speaking of? His? Hers? Mine? Yours? or maybe Society as a whole.

Whose opinion really matters at the end of the day when you are looking  in the mirror?

The person who is judging you to see if you are hypocrite? Waiting to throw a stone, because they have never committed the proverbial sin.

Well walk a mile another mans shoes and you may change your mind about human behavior.

Nothing is coincidence, all things happen for a reason.
