Ben quickly pocketed the money, he didn't have the heart to call out to the lady letting her know the first drink was free. He glanced at Jekyll who appeared to be deep in thought, probably over how the heck he got lost when he only had a few blocks to walk. With a chuckle Benny picked up the towel he had tossed behind him and with one hand started cleaning up around the bar, and with the other he carried on drinking. Once he was done he tossed the towel in the sink. Grabbing the bottle of whiskey and his glass he made his way towards the spiral stairs. Climbing them slowly he shouted, "Jekyll, if you wake up and need something give me a shout!" before disappearing into the loft area to sit on one of the more comfortable chairs and have a few moments to himself. |

Kate walked back into the bar, looking more polished. She was still wearing the same clothes- though they'd been washed for the first time in God knows how long. She patted Jeykll on the back once as she walked by. "Nice to see you again, @Jeykll. You must spend a lot of time here, eh?" She hopped onto a stool and called out, hoping BenjaminLewis was somewhere within earshot. "Hey! I'd like a glass of your THIRD cheapest whiskey!" |

Benny chuckled from where he was sitting and called out, "Did you talk to Gato?" before getting to his feet and moving to the balcony. Leaning over the edge he smiled and waved at the woman, KateLogan before pointing to the bar. "Grab what you want, and a glass. Bring it on up. Assuming your talks with Gato went well, you and I have a lot to discuss." he told the woman. |

Kate glanced around, looking for Benny. Listening to him, she grabbed the most expensive bottle of whiskey and a glass and followed him upstairs, where he was sitting on a comfortable chair. She dropped into a chair opposite him, crossing her legs and pouring her whiskey. "I did talk to Gato. Looks like I'm in for the long haul- my other option fell through. So I'll be sticking in Detroit for a long time, hopefully." She raised a glass in a somewhat sarcastic toast before taking a drink. "So, what'd we need to discuss?" |

He couldn't hold back the grin on his face as he watched her pick up one of the pricier bottles. He shook his head and wandered back to his seat, picking up his own glass just as she emerged from the stairs below. Gesturing to a seat he waited for her to speak and then chuckled, "Well I can't say I'm disappointed that your other plans fell through," he admitted, "I was rather hoping they would." he took a sip of his drink and then nodded his head, "Well, there are two options for you, if you're interested in earning some extra money." he told her. |

She smiled politely and rested a palm on the barrel of her revolver. "I'm listening." |

Benny shook his head wondering why he thought the woman would wax lyrical about her desire to ear money, how excited she was about working for him. He bit back a smile as he picked up his glass. "Well there are two options for you, you can do both or just one, whatever strikes your fancy." He said to her before taking a sip of the whiskey. He set the glass down and ran his fingers through his hair before saying, "I usually have a list of errands that need to be run around the country." He told her. "And unfortunately I do not have the time or ability to be in several places at once. So you'd be expected to fly around delivering packages, picking stuff up for me or anything else really. I will always give you the chance to say no, of course." He said to her. He looked her up and down one more time and nodded as if he had made up his mind. "The other job is only for a month or so." He told her. "I have important business to attend to which is going to make it rather difficult for me to be able to give this place the attention it deserves. That's where you come in. I'd like for you to be a full time bartender here, running it in my absence. " He chuckled. "I know it seems like a lot of responsibility for someone I've only just met, but basically if you screw me over, I'll kill you." He said to her with a little shrug of his shoulders. "So, Kate, what do you think?" He asked her. |

Kate removed her hat slowly and placed it in the table in front of her. There was a lot to consider. She drank another mouthful of whiskey, enjoying the pleasant burn. Her blue eyes started to shine as she silently contemplated Benny's offers. "Well, here's the thing. I don't think I'd be a particularly good errand girl for you. First of all, I have a strong dislike for following boring instructions like "go here", "deliver this", "come back", etc. and I have a tendency to go... exploring. Also I'd probably lose my mind if I ever had to get on a plane. I grew up in a place where if you traveled it was either riding or walking- and I've spent the last few years getting used to cars. If I have to make a long trip... well, trains are okay most of the time. As long as I'm drunk or in one of those sleeper cars scre- nevermind. Point is, I don't really plan on ever flying- and it sounds like trains would be too slow for the kind of job you're looking for there." She smirked. "That other job, though, is pretty interesting. I think I'd like to stick around Detroit for a while. Get to know the city, right? I've had a couple very brief stretches as a bartender before and, while I can't promise I'll be working 24 hours a day, I'll hire someone to help me out, and I'll make sure I'm around often enough and always be checking in to see if there's any trouble. But I'll be here when it's busy. I tend to do well with tips, ya know?" "Anyways, I'll make sure you're making money and everything'll be here when you get back. In return, I get to drag a mattress upstairs, since I currently don't have a place to live. Let me stay here when you're gone, let me keep my tips, and allow me to sample a bottle of something every few days, and we've got a deal. Sound good to you?" |

| Benny reached up and scratched the back of his head while he pondered Kate's requirements. He looked around the loft and frowned slightly not really sure where a mattress would go up here and how he'd be able to store it during the day. He pursed his lips while he thought over his options and wondered if he was an absolute fool for the solution that came to mind. "Alright, so I would rather not have you sleeping here. It's not the safest place for you. But also it's just not really feasible." He held up his hand to stop any protests she might have. "But since I won't be using it, I am willing to let you stay at my apartment." He said to the woman. "It's not the fanciest place around, but it's clean and you would have free run of the place." He said to her. "Thoughts? Because if that's not something you're comfortable with, then your other requirements don't really matter either." | |

"Fair enough. I'll try to find something more permanent before you get back. Everything else sounds okay?" |

Ben thought about the requirements she put forward and nodded his head, "You'll be paid a wage of course, since you'll pretty much be managing the place on your own. I don't think you'll need any help, but if things do get busy around here you're welcome to bring someone in. Obviously all of the tips would be yours, as well." he said before chuckling, "Unless you do bring someone in, you should probably let them have some of the riches." he told her. He stuck his hand out to shake, "So we have a deal?" he asked her with a smile, relieved that this part of the business would at least be taken care of. He wondered about his Burger joint back in New York, and pondered if he should just fly out there and close its doors forever. |

Kate leaned forward and shook Benny's hand. "Sounds good to me. I'll try to only drink the decent stuff and stay away from the top shelf." She winked as she rose from her seat. "So, anything else I need to see?" |

Benny nodded and got to his feet, "Sounds good to me. If you have time I can take you into the office and show you the books and how we order things." he said to her, "But, if you have places to be, I can just write up some instructions and you can call me if you have any questions." he added. He picked up his glass and the bottle he brought up with him, squinting at it. He had made quite a dent in it, which meant he was going to have to order more. He took a few steps towards the stairs before looking over his shoulder at his newest employee, "Well?" he asked her. |

She stuck her thumbs into her gunbelt as she prepared to follow Benny. Doesn't sound overly exciting, but I suppose I can and should stick around for the tour. |

"Good, I promise its not as intense as it sounds." he said before disappearing down the stairs. He raised his voice a little to continue talking, "And since we only just opened, it shouldn't be much to keep track of, if I'm honest." he made his way behind the bar to the door that was there and pushed it open to move into his rather small office. Just big enough for a desk and two chairs. He took a seat in one of them and reached to the shelf above the desk and pulled down a leather book. He picked up a pen and started writing while he waited for Kate. "Hey, you coming?" he shouted out the office door. |

Kate followed Benny, although this time as she strolled through the bar she looked at it with new eyes. Not that she owned the place- but she'd be taking care of it, at least for a little while. It was a nice enough place. Distracted, she walked more briskly after Benny shouted after her, and she strolled inside the room and sat on the unoccupied seat. "Alright... what am I looking at here?" |

"Right, so Kate. This is basically just where we keep track of the orders and things. When we run out of something," he paused to glance at the whiskey bottle he had set on his desk and then started writing its name on one of the lines. "We just write down what we finished off. If its something that you and I also drink, I would suggest buying double. We do have a basement to store things in, so this way we always have what we want to drink." he told her as he finished writing the name of the drink and the number of bottles he wanted next to it. "We only place orders at the end of every week, and they tend to get delivered around Wednesday night." he told her. He pointed up to a cork board with a list on it, showing numbers and names. "Our suppliers are there, you just have to call them up and give them my name. They should be pretty straightforward with you, but once you get quoted a price, put it in the book. I know what prices we've agreed to, so I'll look over everything when I get back, and if there are any issues in price, I'll handle it. I don't want to give you too much work." he stopped to look at her, "You getting all this?" he asked. |

Kate nodded once. Yep. I'm a quick learner. But... you might want to write it down, too. In case... you know, if it's been a long night or something. Anything else for me? |

Benny grinned, "Don't worry, I'm going to write it all down to. And if you fuck it up, its not a huge deal. Just tell a customer no we don't have it and tell them they can have something else." he finished marking the book and then closed it. Reaching up he placed it on the shelf and pulled down a blue cloth bound book. "Alright, this is the finances." he told her. "I don't bother with any fancy shit. Just tell me what was in the register and then the safe at the end of the night." he said. He pointed out the two columns for those totals, and then the column where the date and her initials would go. "The safe is behind that picture." he said pointing to one of the paintings on the wall. The combination is in the back of this book." he said flipping the pages to show her. "Every two days you're to take the money that is in the safe and deposit it at the bank." he explained to her. "The deposit slips are here," he said pulling open the center drawer on his desk. "Just fill them out with the bar's name and mine and then the total amount you're putting in. Obviously, leave about a hundred in the safe to put in the register the next day." He pushed the drawer closed and looked around the office. "I think that about covers it, do you have any questions?" he asked her. |

Kate shook her head. Nope. Think I've got except. Only question I have is whether I can have another glass of that before I hit the road. She gestures to the whiskey. Although I guess I am a little curious about why you trust me so quickly. Other than the whole you'll kill me thing. This one of your moves? Put every pretty girl who walks in this place in charge? |
