The Shady side of Business Started by: Syndicate on Oct 15, '16 17:35

Syndicate exits the New York Stock Exchange holding a briefcase of newly acquired shares for the New England Lumber Association. He gets into the back of his sedan and the driver takes him to the headquarters of NELA. The driver opens the rear door and Syndicate steps onto the sidewalk. Looking over the property Syndicate nods and walks towards the building followed by two gentleman in pinstripe suits. Walking through the front door, Syndicate is greeted by the secretary who kindly asks how she can be of help. "The board room?" Syndicate asks the secretary who returns a puzzled look. "It is down the hall, but they are having a meeting called by a new stakeholder", Said the secretary in a shaky voice as she eyed up the gentlemen in suits. Syndicate made his way down the hall while saying, "Yeah... That is me".

The board room sat quiet until Syndicate made his entrance, kicking open both doors. He walked to the head of the table where the majority stakeholders sat. Throwing the briefcase on the table, he opened it and pulled out his shares of New England Lumber Association. "As you can see I currently own 50% of NELA, and that means... You are in my seat." Syndicate stated, turning his attention to the leader of the board of directors sitting at the head of the table. The gentleman stood up and scoffed as he motioned for everyone to move down a seat. "Don't get comfortable, lets get this meeting under way. I move to dissolve New England Lumber Association and sell it to the highest bidder. Surrender your shares to me and I will pay twenty cents on the dollar. You won't leave as rich as you entered but you'll have something. " Syndicate said to the board as the member laughed. The senior member turned to his board of directors and began to speak, "You obviously don't know anything about business, owning half does not give you majority share. We will not sell and we will not endorse your motion. The vote will end in a tie which will leave the decision to the CEO, He is down the hall if you'd like us to get this over with now." The board members begin to laugh at Syndicate whose plan seemed to be foiled. Syndicate raised his hand and snapped his fingers. BostonGeorge entered the room and slammed a few pieces of paper on the desk. "1% bitches! I hearby vote in favor of the dissolution of this company. " BostonGeorge said to the board with the most arrogant voice in his repertoire. Syndicate and BostonGeorge signed the papers from the briefcase and looked around the room. Syndicate smiled and addressed the board once more, "Well... Seems I don't need to purchase your shares anymore as they are now worthless. The motion has passed and you are all out of a job. Good day to you" Syndicate said as he took his seat at the head of the table. One of the ex-board members raises his hand like a schoolboy with a question "But..." Syndicate interjected immediately, "I said Good Day!". Syndicate kicked his feet up on the table as the ex-board members made their leave one by one, collecting their effects and throwing random office supplies at the wall in frustration.

As the last board member exited BostonGeorge and Syndicate exchanged smiles, "That went well ey sir?" BostonGeorge said to his new boss. Syndicate smiled and turned to BostonGeorge, "We have a long road ahead of us, but we have one more order of business" Syndicate walked out to the lobby followed by his security detail and lit a cigar. He addressed the secretary once more, "Can you point me to the CEO's room please?" The secretary, caught off guard by the questioning man smoking a cigar in her office responded, "His room is behind that large door there. But umm... You can't smoke in here". Syndicate smiled and turned towards the CEO's door and responded to the secretary, "I can do anything I want. This is my company now, Shade Enterprises. Pack your shit and get out, You are fired." Syndicate immediately walked to the CEO's door and tried the handle. The door was locked. Syndicate motioned to his security detail who immediately kicked in the door to find the CEO reviewing some paperwork. Shocked by the interruption, the CEO stood from his chair and eyed up the intruders. "Syndicate, I told you last week, I am not selling the company. Now get the fuck out of my office" The CEO pointed to the door, but Syndicate approached the desk and stood behind the chair designated for guests, the very same that he sat upon last week. "Actually, I had a word with the board this morning. The company is mine, you're fired. Get the fuck out of my office!" Syndicate said as he slammed the signed contract on the desk. The door flew open once more and Syndicate's security detail made their way into the office to escort the CEO from Syndicate's swanky new office. Syndicate followed them to the office's front stoop and watched as the security detail literally threw the gentleman from the front sidewalk into the street. The employees began to gather in the front lawn to watch the spectacle as their boss was unceremoniously removed from his position. Syndicate addressed the mass in front of him, "Will all of the management please step to the left side of the lawn please. Syndicate said as the minority of the employees made their way to the left side of the lawn. "You are all fired. Pack your shit and go." Syndicate said as he addressed the managers of the company. The managers make their way to the sidewalk as the rest of the company watches. A large mass of black sedans and limousines park at the main gate. The doors open on the vehicles and a bunch of gentlemen in suits make their way to the front lawn.  They stand on the left hand side where the managers were.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you the newest company of New York: Shade Enterprises - for all your tree needs, both lumber and arboreal services available. Looking for a career? Apply within and grow with us! Lets introduce you to your new management. My name is Syndicate, President and CEO. BostonGeorge here is the Vice President, and these fine members on the left hand side of the lawn is your new management personnel. I will be available shortly to answer questions, concerns, and speak with any who wish me well in my venture. Will the new board of directors please join me inside?"

Syndicate and his entourage move into the boardroom and wait for Syndicates direction. "I know that for many of you, this is your first lumber company but it runs the same as other companies, the lower level people will stay on, we will pay them well and we let them do what they already know. The business model: Eliminating the forestry of New England and Canada for profit, helping to build the world of tomorrow or cover it in shadows shade. This nation is in need of building and we are going to supply the materials they need. It is time to get to work, we already have a large contract with RobOakheart. He needs lumber to build ships - importing business or something like that." Syndicate paused for a moment and spoke again, "Also, there will be no mention from this point forward about The Shadow, the Business District speakeasy. It does not exist, it has never existed." Syndicate winks to his trusted associates. The members of the newly formed Shade Enterprises make their way out of the board room and get themselves to work. Syndicate remains in the boardroom and speaks with BostonGeorge, "Do you think I owe a royalty to PresidentDonaldTrump for saying "You're fired" so many times?" The two chuckle and Syndicate asked BostonGeorge to open the room to anyone who wishes to say a few words in congratulations or concern.

Report Post Tip
Nothing like a good old fashioned take over. In all the excitement surrounding Chairman Oakhearts new position, I was out of town as the events unfolded here in New York for you, Syndicate.

Your time is now, however. Make best of it, you've no doubt experienced how the Don likes his city run, you're certain to fit right in.

Congratulazioni, Syndicate, the best of luck to you in the lumber industry!
