As Bishop continued to tail Ben, there was the loud, roaring sound of a motor in the distance. It had been quiet all day so the sound slowly worked it's way into Bishop's head. He continued watching Ben, but also looked around for the encroaching motorist. More than likely it was nothing, but he didn't want to miss something he shouldn't.

"S'only one rider..." he spoke softly to himself. "Am sure there be plenty o' riders in Detroit."

He spied the motorist as they rounded the corner and pulled into a spot to park. Bishop moved off to the side of the market where he could keep better eyes on Ben and the new-coming motorist. He wore a cut, that was the main reason Bishop wanted to watch him.

His hand dug into his pockets and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a small match book. He lifted the pack to his mouth and pulled one of the sticks from it with his lip, stuffing the pack back in his pocket and striking a match to light it before putting the match book away as well.

"He don' look ta be much trouble," Bishop mouthed out, speaking to himself as he exhaled a plum of smoke over his head. His eyes would jump back and forth between Ben and Bobby, until Bobby concluded his business and went about his way. The bike kicked off again and the roar filled the air before it lulled to just the normal hustle and bustle of the market again. Bishop tossed his cigarette down and stamped it out, returning to tailing Ben while keeping his eyes peeled for more.

Bishop eyed the sun coming up. The streets had stayed busy through most of the night, but no trouble stirred. He lit a cigarette and pushed off his wall perch he'd chosen as the bustling streets had died off to a few people here and there. As the sun rose, so did the people again. It had already started to get busy from people roaming the streets for work.

"Guess tha' about covers me first twenty-fer hours. Wonder if Mr. Beacon be awake yet?" he pondered aloud before moving across the street. He tossed the butt of his cigarette to the side before heading in through the glass doors into Mr. Beacon's building. He could already hear the furious typing from one of the rooms.

"Good Christ, these kids don' know when ta sleep!" He quickly moved beyond the doors and he heard a tiny voice call out, "Mr. Beacon! Hey, Mr. Beacon! Wait!"

He stopped, thinking to himself, "Nil Beacon, yet..." Turning, he met the kid face on as they ran straight in to each other. Bishop grabbed his forehead and laughed, "Bloody child, yer noggin's hard as a feckin' brick." The kid looked Bishop over and stammered through an apology. "It's alright kid, just a wee bit of a headache. Nothin' tha' some sleep won't fix, what have ya in a tizzy?"

The kid held up his typed paper, "I was going to show Mr. Beacon, I thought you were him come in for the day."

Bishop laughed, "Well I be no Mr. Beacon, but I be waitin' ta speak wit' 'im too. There be a bench outside his office where we can wait. I'll let ya talk wit' 'im first."  Together they made their way to Mavis' office to sit and wait, Bishop lowering his hat over his face and shutting his eyes. "Elbow me when 'e comes in, yea kid?"

A quiet mhmm from the kid and Bishop slept.

Crest was getting use to his new environment in Detroit, a city he had never really visited but he was here and he would get use to it rather quickly. He was told to go to West Montcalm Street, he was warned that they needed what was considered as guards for the place to be greeters as well as keep trouble away, it seems they had a trouble issue but he had not been here so he did not know what was going on.

He took a cab down to the address he was given where the place was located at and got out. Upon doing so he paid the cab driver and looked at a rather large line, he walked to the back of the line and stood there where he waited for several minutes. After a bit of a wait he was nearing the front of the line where a guy in front of him was raising a fuss about not being let in. He could tell that Mr Gato was one of the men that was standing in front of the door looking on trying to figure out what all the commotion was about. He got out of line and grabbed the man by the back of his turtle necked shirt and shoved him to the other side opposite of the line and said "Get out of here, you were already told to leave, do not make them ask you twice." The man walked away as he seemed somewhat drunk as he stumbled quite a bit.

The line then got to where he was finally let in, as he passed Mr Gato he said "I heard you guys needed some kind of help to watch the door, greet guests, and whatever else you may need. If this position is still open please do come and find me as I am up for any task you need Boss." He winked and followed inside where he joined a group who was welcoming anyone and getting drunk with ease and decided to start doing the same.

Kate was strolling down West Montcalm toward her new office when she noticed Crest standing on one of the corners and keeping an eye on things as she'd asked. She slowed her pace as she noticed a small group of thugs strutting down the street in the opposite direction, heading towards Crest. She leaned against the brick wall of one of the buildings. They weren't affiliated with anyone, and they also looked a little young- barely older than kids. Still, they were disrupting business.

She was as Crest moved to intercept the three punks and wondered how he'd handle the situation. Diplomacy? Violence? Money? Intimidation? Seeing how he resolved this would certainly give a hint about his character. Kate leaned back to watch the show unfold.

Report Post Tip

Crest was heading down the alley way as he saw a lady leaning on a wall across the way, the distance was a bit more than his vision would allow him to see so he did not have a clear image of the lady. As he was looking in her direction he ran straight in to one of the three men that were walking towards him. The guy he bumped in to seemed rather angry about it and pushed him.

He moved slightly back and glared at the man who had just shoved him. Crest was a very violent man but only if he needed to be, however he also knew there was a woman who could clearly see what was going on so adding bodies to a kill count did not seem like the best strategy knowing nothing about this women nor being able to see her face in case he needed to finish another job after this one.

He looked at the man who had just shoved him and said "Pardon me Sir, I did not happen to see you there, I do not wish for any harm if you do not mind me letting me go on my way." The man smirked as well and told him to give him his wallet and the watch. He told this man he did not mind giving him the wallet but he was not giving him the watch, it was a gift from his Grandfather. Saying this generated the response from the man saying "Even better, the more valuable the better." As he pulled out a switch blade from his back pocket.

Crest sighed as he did not want it to come down to this, his name was not given to him for no reason but he did not like to show it as it went against what he stood for while in public however it seemed this time would not be able to be avoided. The guy swung at him with the razor blade as Crest grabbed the mans wrist and took the knife and stabbed one of the other men in the neck with it. Milliseconds later he pulled out a gun shooting the man who had the knife and then the man behind him as well. He did not wish for these men to die as he simply just wanted to get to where he was going, however, they had seem this mans face and knew what he was capable of and that was not allowed to occur. Both of the men with gun wounds were making noises equivalent to the sound of pain. He executed both of them and put his gun away.

He did not wish for the cops to be able to investigate this too much so he took the wallets of the now three deceased thugs and anything that would be valuable to finding any information about them and looked back in the direction of where the woman once was but she was no longer seen, he pocketed the ID's and personal belongings and leaned on the wall wishing that this never had to happen. He did not wish for his identity nor ways of life to be shown outside of the work place but this time it was inevitable it would seem.

Report Post Tip

Kate had slipped into her office, but kept an eye on things covertly from one of the windows on the second floor. Crest could certainly handle himself. She didn't regret the loss of life, necessarily. It was just a harsh reality in this line of work- and the punks were the ones who'd attacked first, while Crest was defending himself. On the other hand, it was a regrettable act since there were now three dead bodies lying on the sidewalk in the area that the crew did most of its business in. It was later in the evening and there didn't seem to be many people around; if he moved fast, Crest could probably get rid of the bodies somehow. She figured that someone who could handle weapons that well would be practiced in removing any traces of his victims. Just because Don Gato had sources on the police force didn't mean they could start dropping bodies on the sidewalk around his HQ.

Report Post Tip

Crest had done some thinking while leaning against the wall, he knew he needed to dispose of the bodies, even if it was just throwing them into a river, whatever the case was as they had no ID's on them or anything of sort, however, that was not enough, he could not allow anyone to find these dead bodies, even a one percent possibility of them linking these bodies to him was not acceptable. He walked over to the telephone booth which was right around the corner and made a phone call to a friend of his who owed him a favor. He went back around the corner and leaned back against the wall as he waited.

Half a hour had gone past as a van pulled around the corner. He had no idea what his friend drove anymore so he stayed toward the shadow of the alley, when he saw that it was his friend Vinny he came out and greeted him. Vinny looked at the three dead men and said "Really? This is what you are using your training for? Please tell me this was self-defense." Crest nodded and said "I gave them a chance Vin, you know I always do, yet these guys were so entranced on gaining what did not belong to them that this was the only option." Vinny sighed a big breath and told him to help put them in the van. A few short minutes later the three bodies were in the van as Vinny gave Crest a gasoline can.

He poured the gas all over the van and around it as he and Vin looked at each other. Vin then took out a match and handed it to Crest, he looked back at Vin to a It's your mess comment. Crest smirked and lit the match and flung it at the fire. The van caught fire and blew up as the fire hit the gas tank. Vin and Crest walked without a care towards the bench and sat and talked as they waited for a bus to show up as this was one of the bus routes or so Vin had said.

Kate looked out the window and smirked to herself. Well, he certainly wasn't the subtle type. She'd have to catch some shut eye now, but she resolved to check in with Crest tomorrow.

Bishop woke to a loud boom... He jumped and looked about, disoriented. "Mary mother o' Christ, what in under f**k was that?" he spat out quickly. "Sounded like a f**kin' car bomb!" Rushing down the halls and out of Mavis' building, he could already smell it and see the smoke. "F**k me mother, what tramp head blew up a car in tha middle of Montcalm?"

He made his way across the street towards the already gathering crowd, "'Ey ya plonkers, back away..." He pushed through some people to get in front of the crowd, "Thar be nothin' ta see here. Go about yer business." He began turning people on the front line away. "Go on ya wankers, bugger off. Don' make me bash yer craniums." The crowd dissipated to a few stragglers as the fire wagons showed up.

Bishop pulled his hat low and wandered off with the rest of the crowd as the firefighters began putting out the burning vehicle. He rounded a corner and leaned against the wall, lighting a cigarette and shaking his head. "F**kin' shite..." He took a long drag off his cigarette and lofted a plum of smoke up in the air as he exhaled.

Report Post Tip

Crest saw a man who was shoving people and getting people out of the vicinity walk over to a building across from the bench he was sitting at. Vinny was glaring at him with a really bad look until Crest told him to stop acting stupid. He then got up from the bench and walked over to the man and said "What happened over there?"

As he said this the bus arrived but he did not board it, Vinny did as it was not good for them to be seen together regardless but he knew he had not seen the last of him. He leaned against the building as well and asked for a smoke. He had seen this guy before but could not remember his name, he really never gave his name out much either so he could understand the potential lack of name giving in this conversation that was about to occur.

He leaned against the building as he waited for a response and a potential smoke as more and more firetrucks and now unmarked police vehicles continued to make their way to the scene, this particular one seemed to be similar to some kind of detective or what one would drive. He had hoped deep down inside that the detective was not very good at his job as he did not wish for this to become any messier than it already had.

Report Post Tip

Kate Logan emerged from her office and ambled down West Montcalm towards Crest , who was leaning against a building. She leaned back next to him, raising one of her boots to rest against the wall as she smiled slightly.

"Well, it certainly wasn't subtle. We'll get this flaming van situation handled quickly by a couple guys we can trust. I called them a little while ago. Something I might throw out there to you is to be aware of the potential for more nuanced actions. You might have been able to talk those guys down. Hell, someone with your skill might have been able to disarm them and scare them off. Mind you, I'm not criticizing you too much: you got the job done... and I highly doubt that any of their friends will be around soon."

She paused, looking at the cops and tow truck that arrived to start a quick examination of the scene- and to get the van gone fast.

"So yes, I think you've got a couple things to consider. But you're obviously talented- and you handled the task. So keep an eye on Montcalm for the rest of the day, then swing by my office later and we'll talk about that shop you mentioned."

She popped off the wall and began walking as the tow truck drove away with the van.

Report Post Tip

Crest listened as a woman came up and spoke some words to him about his actions in this situation. He listened carefully and thought over what she said but he also knew that while this may have been the case, they also saw his face and disarming the situation let them know he could be a potential danger to them and he was not willing to find out what kind of consequences those may have.

He nodded however as she walked towards the tow truck, he knew that this situation had caused extra attention that may not have been needed but alas those who had power above him would not have wanted it to end in any other way and while Crest did not fear many people, he did not wish to go up against the organization that hired him nor those who do hire him.

He continued to lean against the wall as he could see the entrance from here that he needed to be watching and waited for further instructions from the woman who seemed to be the one giving the commands around here beyond Mr Gato himself.

Report Post Tip

Bishop raised his head just enough that the other man could see his eyes underneath the brim of his hat, "Honestly mate, couldn' tell ya. Some f**kin' arse thought it might be a good idea ta blow up a van. S'all I can say, so it is." He shrugged, and offered a cigarette as the man asked.

As Crest took one, he pulled out the matchbook and handed it over so the man could light it.

Bishop chuckled, taking the booklet back, "Reminds me of home, ta be honest. Tha motherland."

He instinctively lowered his head a bit as the cops showed up, mostly to keep his face obscured; not that his hat did much. The patter of more footsteps approached and he side-glanced to see who was walking up. Kate began addressing the other man and Bishop slid down the wall a hair to give them their space. He'd seen her before, knew without knowing who she was. She was important, and with Gato. That was really all that mattered.

As Kate spoke to the other man, Bishop shook his head; realization sinking in. After Kate walked off, he turned to Crest.

"Yer tha wick bastard, 'ey?" he spoke out softly to not be overheard. With a laugh he offered his hand to the man, "Guess since ya talkin' wit' her, ya be friends wit' me..."

Report Post Tip

Crest looked at the man who extended his hand to him with narrow eyes he said "The name is Crest or that is what they call me anyways, I do not go by my real name anymore and one day those who become friends of mine will know why." He then shook the mans hand and continued by saying "This is not really the kind of introduction I intended to make however I do not wish for thugs to understand the skill set I do possess nor do I need those they worked for thinking I am a dangerous man and coming after me hence why all of this was necessary."

He lit the cigarette given to him and looked at the scene as it was now cleaned up fully. They did a good job of making it look new again and while he did not wish to have this occur in front of Mr Gato's property, it did occur and maybe he could handle it better next time but hopefully he did not have to find that out.

Report Post Tip

Bishop smirked and chuckled lightly as Crest finished his statement.

"Y'er a sandwich shy of a picnic hi? Don' need tha gruff mate. Just think a wee bit more before ya do somethin'."  He shook his head before eyeing Crest up and down. He definitely -looked- capable.

"Maybe take a drive before ya know..." He whistled sharply in reference to the van; inference without actually saying, -Drive the van somewhere else before blowing it up next time-.

He pushed off the wall the two were leaning against, "Sure this won't be tha las' time we meet, Mr. Crest." He started to walk off down the street, calling back over his shoulder, "Name's Bishop, by tha way." Casually he waved a backhand before moving into and vanishing within the crowd.

Report Post Tip

A new day, a new set of faces... Bishop leaned against Mavis Beacon's school of typing, smoking a cigarette and drinking on a soda bottle.

"Been quiet," he thought outloud.

Kicking off the wall, he meandered through the crowd of Montcalm Street working his way back and forth between Don Gato's HQ and Mavis' building. The last few days had been uneventful, at least in Detroit. Word was, tensions were high elsewhere and that kept Bishop's eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary.

Report Post Tip

"Mr. Beacon, we're waiting for our assignment!!. Mr. Beacon, can you hear me!?"

Mavis didn't need to open his eyes to realize he had stumbled back to "Typing and Type Writer Repair" office after a late night of drinking, once again. He immediately knew where he was from the high pitched excited voice yelling at him while he was asleep.

He hesitated opening his eyes, knowing that bright lights were most likely just as welcome as loud noises at this moment. As his eyes opened, it took a few seconds for his eyes to adjust and sharpen. He tried to focus on the student yelling at him, and the room began to spin.

"Stop screaming, I'm up, I'm up..." he pleaded, thinking to himself that he really needed to find a new location to crash after a heavy night of drinking.

After collecting himself, Mavis rose to his feet and made his way to his safe, carefully entering the combination to unlock it. He reached in and took out a stack of paper that he waved towards the kid to come get. As the child approached, Mavis grabbed a small note card and wrote down

Bishop, hair of the dog?

"Here's the class assignment for today. Tell Jacob he's in charge of the classroom once again today. Also, give him this note and tell him to send the first person finished to deliver this note to Mr. Bishop"

As the kid took the items from Mavis and made his way out of the office, Mavis sat back down on his chair, kicked his feet up on his desk and closed his eyes once again.

Lunch time, just after noon.

The streets had been relatively dead this morning; a few people working, the occasional bum, early morning drunks already busying the bars. Bishop made his way to the market area, it was already getting busy for people trying to find a quick lunch. He jumped in one of the shorter lines and made his way to one of the sandwich vendors.

"'Ey yo, Mr. McGough. What'll it be?"

"Afternoon' Tony, just gimme some o' that beef. An' a pickle, an' a slice o' that cheese there, t'anks." Bishop pulled out a smoke and lit it as he waited for Tony to get his order.

"'Ere ya go, Mr. McGough," Tony spoke as he sat the sandwich and sides on the counter top. "That'll be $3.50."

Bishop choked on the smoke from his cigarette, "Jaysus, Tony. Ya tryin' ta break me here?" Begrudgingly, he handed Tony a Lincoln, "Keep tha change... Lord knows ya probably need it, chargin' so much an' all." He tipped his hat and took his food, heading across the street, when he heard his name being called out by a kid. "Mr. Bishop, HEY! MR. BISHOP!" He saw the kid at the corner of the streets waving frantically.

"Ya kid, wha' be tha problem?"

"Mr. Beacon wanted me to give this to you." The kid handed him a note, and then held out his hand waiting.

"Fockin' vultures, ya are. Beacon be teachin' ya kids this?" he joked, as he reached in his pocket and produced three nickles for the boy. He read the note and laughed, again, "I just payed fifteen cents fer this note? Ya go an' tell Mr. Beacon that I'll take him up on 'is offer, okay boy?"

With a nod the boy took off running, surely, back to Mavis.

Bishop just shook his head, tossing his cigarette that had burned down in the process, and took a bite of his sandwich. "Mm, tha's a fockin' good sammich, so it is."

Stepping briskly from his office, Gato checked his timepiece while heading west down Montcalm street. He took in the sights and sounds, observing the men and women go about their daily grind. It was an assuring scene, an indication that everything was running as intended. There was no fear, no disgruntlement or tension. He smiled and replaced his watch as he entered the market. Moving between the stalls, he reached his preferred vendor and picked up a mixed bag of fruit. Some warmed pastries followed, then finally as he was passing back up and heading east, a few tins of preserves.

He passed the Fox Theater and stood on the corner of Park, looking down the recently populated avenue. Pulling a cigarette tin from his pocket, he lit a smoke and took a few moments to collect his thoughts, before striding off south.

Report Post Tip

Smoke plumed overhead as Bishop continued to keep his eyes on Montcalm. The streets were full of life this morning as many people enjoyed the bright Sun and cooled breeze. A few parents and their children went for the Fox Theater, some children ran along the streets playing games, and others made sure they worked the crowd. A couple of uniforms strolled down the street, a suit in tow.

"Huh, wonder what tha dicks be up ta this marnin'?" Bishop thought aloud.

He watched them weave through the people, disappearing around a corner and down another street.

"Just a patrol I guess."

A puff on the cigarette in his hands allowed him to relax even more, as another cloud of smoke bellowed into the air over his head. Looking down the street he noticed the Mr. Gato walking his way. Bishop didn't bother the busy man with small talk, but he did tip his hat in greeting while offering a, "Good marnin' Mr. Gato."

"Good morning to you, signore McGough," came the voice of Gato as he continued down the road. Bishop nodded and kept his eyes on the man until he disappeared to the south. Bishop turned heading east, from whence Gato had emerged, and made his way down the streets to keep the peace.
